Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Party-time for the Saints might be over:

  • Play twice: Richmond, Geelong, Port Adelaide, West Coast, Sydney
  • Play once away: Brisbane, GWS, Gold Coast
  • Play a home game vs Adelaide in Cairns

Agree, but subject to timeslots. We don't know what our timeslots will be for Rounds 7-23, so we don't know if we're going to get, say, a stack of prime time or blockbuster games, family-friendly Sat/Sun arvo games, or the dreaded Sunday 1.10pm or twilight games.

I was thinking that it is unlikely there will be walk up GA tickets available because of covid capacity constraints.  So if fans want to see game at the G such as Carlton, Rich, Hawks, Geelong, Collingwood (and an offset game for Alice probably vs Hawks) it is best to buy a membership .  Good value I reckon.

Good draw. More positives than negatives. Hard draw coming home but would rather that the other way. Get the win loss ledger in the right direction early and build from there.

Looks like we have finally got the right outcome around our Alice and QB games. After the Alice game we will have a minimum 8 day break into QB. Then we have the bye after QB.

Floating fixture allows for some decent timeslots if we are showing a bit.

Also I see the Bombers have to play down at Geelong (first time in 28 years I believe). They are really on the nose these days. Nice.

I think if we have to play at the cattery round 23 is probably the best time. Most likely they will have already stitched up a top 2 position and have nothing riding on the game, or hopefully their all-in for 2021 strategy has spectacularly backfired and they are imploding outside of the 8. Only issue with that could be it results in multiple retirements and they fire up for the last game of the likes of Selwood. At least Gablett and Taylor have already gone!

Hopefully by then most of the kitties will be getting around on zimmer frames.

Interstate trips:

  1. Hawthorn - 9 (but four are home games in Launceston)
  2. North - 9 (but four are home games in Hobart) (plus Geelong)
  3. Melbourne - 7 (but one is Alice Springs) (plus Geelong)
  4. St Kilda - 7 (including a home game in Cairns) (plus Geelong)
  5. Essendon - 6 (plus Geelong)
  6. Richmond - 6
  7. Geelong - 6
  8. Bulldogs - 6 (plus Geelong)
  9. Carlton - 5
  10. Collingwood - 5

Compared to the original 2020 fixture (i.e. before COVID hit, the one released in October 2019), the only changes to this distribution are North having one extra game in Hobart, St Kilda and the Dogs having one extra interstate game, and Essendon getting sent down the highway.

Away to Essendon - that means we're now on a 2-15 H-A streak against them.

First game at the MCG vs Adelaide since 2016 and second since 2012.

We haven't played Fremantle in Perth since 2015. Meanwhile we haven't avoided playing West Coast in Perth since 2015.

In addition to these, some other quirks:

  1. We still haven't played Essendon twice in a season since 2005.
  2. We still haven't played Brisbane twice in a season since 2013.
  3. We still haven't played GWS at Giants Stadium since 2014.
  4. We haven't played West Coast at the MCG since 2014.
  5. Our MCG home game against Adelaide ends a run of only 1 of our last 10 games against them being at the MCG
  6. Next year's home game against Carlton is our first since 2017 and only our second since 2011 (we are currently on a streak of 1-10 H-A).
  7. Next year is the first non-COVID year we haven't played St Kilda twice since 2014.

It doesn't look like I'll make too much money this year as I normally bet against us. Well depending on the circumstances and odds. I'll pay for a win. If we can't make the finals this year with hopefully a fairly fit footbal club, they should look for another job. C'mon Melbourne start to believe in yourselves we've got a decent team. If we can put our best team on the park we should go ok next year.

I’m pencilling us in for 17 wins and a top 4 finish.

Drop games against Richmond, bulldogs (Marvel game win the return at the G), Geelong (last round), Port and West Coast.

Get stuffed MFCSS.

I feel some of you confuse MFCSS; blind hope is part of the process for ultimate disappointment. So you are exhibiting one of the symptoms...

A good fixture for memberships:  Generally, quality opponents for our Home games at the G incl our two blockbusters vs Richmond and Collingwood.

Every chance there will be capacity restrictions at the G so time to buy memberships folks.

Totally agreed. Win the first couple of games and I reckon memberships will go up significantly, especially if crowds are allowed at the G but subject to social distancing/ square meter capacity rules.

Geelong at gmhba last round and eagles in perth 3rd last round.

But no sydney in sydney. Brisbane once. Freo in melb only. So some upside as you say.

Just to nitpick, but I'd rather we play Sydney at the SCG than the MCG . They really get up for their away games against us. Bad memories.

Of recent years they've been as bad at the SCG, as we've been on the MCG.

I know its annoying play Geelong in Geelong in the last round, but imagine how sweet it would be to beat them down there.

I welcome the opportunity to break their hearts and hopefully cost them a top 4 or finals spot.

I was there for 186, suffered through it live... I was there when the cats cheered Corey Enright pre match for his 300... and the subsequent schaedenfraud during the same  game and the brilliant game that Bernie Vince played that night.

Standing there as a local amongst the silence... the deathly silence as the siren went.... Kardinia Park is no hoodoo.

only to yze getting robbed of Mark of the year in the goal square, whilst Miller took a kidney of Lonergan and we effing ended up drawing.

I was so excited that we wouldn’t have to go to Geelong finally... and then I read round 23. Every. Damn. Year.

Happy to keep both our home game blockbusters that we missed out on last year. Overall not bad and I’m glad to have an easier run in the first half of the season. Good for confidence and memberships.

I think our record of going to Perf to play the E Girls is just as good

Death , taxes and Melbourne away at Geelong and West Coast

According to the Bartlett-Pert "red n' blueprint" this should be "manna from heaven". It will literally rain goals on both sides of the continent. Hopefully the team won't be seeking refuge in the Ark but navigating a finals strategy that will finally deliver the Grail.

How do Geelong get the last 3 games all at GMHBA? What a [censored] gift from Hocking.

It could be what they asked for and being GF'ists requests get granted.  And in a way it doesn't matter when they play there they will win.

Just like Richmond had a long run of games at the G in the latter rounds in recent years.  Being GF or premiers helps persuade the AFL on numerous fixture benefits.

On the positve side for us, seven of our first 9 games are in Melbourne (6 at the G, of which 5 are Home games, and 1 is at Marvel).  I'm guessing lots of early Melbourne games is what the club asked for to get fans attending games (gate revenue) and to sell memberships in the early rounds.  That early revenue will be important to us.

We'll get them later in the year if we deserve them.

A club that's made finals once in 15 years doesn't deserve Friday nights.

Got nothing to do with it !!!

If  you perform in a year like 2018 then you deserve Friday night and other FTA opportunities.

Shouldnt be penalised forever we also  have finished ahead of many teams in 2017 and 2020.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
