Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Premiership Windows

Our Premiership window has been open since 2017. We have wasted the last 2 years of that premiership window. We have until 2027 to win a premiership. If we can't consistently win finals and win a premiership  in that time then it may be another 60 years without premiership success.

That about covers it but first we need to shed the anchor.

All that maybe true but the only thing that matters is winning games and we seem we fall at that hurdle most years. Potential is basically BS.

Agree OD. Talk about Premiership Windows is a load of cods. Just another device to talk about nothing. Like predicting the share market. Just guesswork and opinion.

I cant remember talk about premiership windows when the Dogs or Tigers got up.

They won enough games to get into the finals and when they did they had opportunity, luck, were injury free and played great footy, like we did for two finals matches in 2018.

You can retroactively go back and place teams in PW to fit the narrative but for a predictor for the future it seems very dodgy.

Just go out there and consistently win games and become a successful club.

Please!

Time is running out for many.

Saints had very little injuries last year as we did in 2018. The best teams 22 gets in sync. No injuries mean any teams "window" is open.

I say this with a lot of hope and optimism  every year goes by is like a hand full of goes left to see us with the Premiership .

Held up high for all of the supporters to see. The group  has to be mentally prepared and that is our Achilles heel.

IMO we  have  the mix of the in our personnel. It just comes down to us in believing.....

There is no window..in my IMV  it comes down to the right combination and we have it.

Agree.

We have the mix but do we or can we develop The Team ?

The Tigers are the best example in recent years. They have this tangible quality that is displayed on the field but also an intangible quality that somehow exists in the ether. The players, coaches and officials (Gale) seem to reflect it.

The end result is that they have a bunch of super talented individuals, but together, they play as a great team. Dusty is an example of individual brilliance but first and foremost he is a team player. Cochin another.

Great leadership, great culture, great team.

I'm a believer in such a thing as a premiership window, it's just I think interpreting that into the probability of a flag win is fraught with danger.  No one would say that any of Sydney, Hawthorn, North and Adelaide are anywhere near it.

You'd have to think with the number of top ten players in their early to mid 30s that teams like Geelong, West Coast and Collingwood are about to go off a cliff in the next few years unless they can pull off some massive trade heists in the same period.  Loosing all of Hawkins, Selwood, Dangerfield, Touhy, Taylor, Abblett to either retirement or loss of output over the next few years is going to hurt Geelong big time.  Kennedy is on his last legs at WC, will be a huge loss for them and I see no credible replacement, similarly Sidebottom and Pendlebury will rip the guts out of Collingwoods strength and DeGoey hardly seems like the type of character you'd build good team culture around.

I'd take the rating of the Saints above us with the same huge grain of salt that I did, when after 2018 all the so called experts had us as seriously challenging for the flag in 2019.

I'd agree with Pert and others here that our team still has some maturing to do, in order to make playing consistently and winning a habit, as opposed to playing in bursts.  However once that clicks for us, surely we are well in the mix with the talented mids and solid backline we have.  Where as, how to fit Harmes and Brayshaw into the midfeild in 2020 presented some challenges, I actually think the depth of our mids will play out far better with longer quarters and could seriously exposure a lot of teams in 2021.

When it all comes down to it, I think that Leigh Matthews had it right with his assertion that even with the best recruiting, strategy and training standards in place, the difference between a good season and winning a premiership still involves an element of luck ...and surely we are due a bit of that sometime this century.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
