Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I agree - haven't seen him play (only seen his highlights packages) but the fact that he can run (quickly and all day), has size and can take a grab makes me think he must have a few other things to work on (otherwise why didn't he go top 10?)

Like all of his cohort, he's essentially missed a year of footy - let's not put too much expectation on the kid before he's even played a practice match!

Have thought the same 'delusions'...

The draft is a bit of a raffle but more so this draft because of the lack of exposed form.

Of course the missing year may have been the year he jumped up the rankings and would have gone top 10.

Bontempelli was ranked outside the top 10 as was Oliver and they both came home with a big run.

...maybe we got the steal of the draft. Some clubs will because of the circumstances.

Here's hoping we're that club.

Obviously the COVID year was poor for these youngster since the Victorian boys could not play and any form for them was 2019 which make them under exposed, I think you just recruit players who were good in their junior year and hope they did enough to show their metal.

Rosman has speed and endurance so he is halfway to being a player so long as he continues to work on the ball skills and has a natural flare for reading the play he will be a very good player.

I have watch a lot of junior football and he has more physical attributes than most so I will go out on a limb and predict he will be the best first year player for the MFC this year.

A little too much excitement over some time trial results and a natural runner here.

The wing is such an important structural position we have to see if he can get to the right spots at stoppages and when defending, that's challenge number 1 for any winger and isn't easy.

After that we can't even be sure he'll be a good ball winner. Then the final step is probably how he uses the ball and thumping left foot boot means little if it's not going to a team mate.

It's probably more likely at this stage that we'll see Tom McDonald at 28 on the wing rather than Rosman at 18.

Max Gawn was pick 34 on the back of 2 knee reconstructions and no TAC cup footy.....

Which is totally irrelevant unless you think that just because he had a poor (Covid affected) buildup to the draft like Max then he is going to be a champ like Max. That would make zero sense at all, and your posting history proves you are no dill.

The kid has done nothing other than run well in a time trial, and many are talking like he is the second coming. It is really becoming embarrassing.

I say we just remove the high expectation, which only gets him slagged off when he doesnt tear up games from round 1.

Let him develop and hope he turns out a best 22.

Sage words Ding, I suspect falling on barren ground. But then what would a preseason be without some excitement!

All good points. But Tom McDonald belongs nowhere other than the forward line. He is a terrible decision maker and can't execute under pressure. This has already been proven after years in the backline.

Considering this kid hasn't played much football and is more a project type draft pick it would be a very good effort for him to play straight away and if he does then as JT says the sky is the limit for Fraser

Hopefully another JT special

I am becoming more and more confident in JT scouting abilities

One of rosman, bowey, or even rivers or Jackson to become our second wingman

Listen to Jason Taylor himself. He was drafted on the back of dominating school footy in 2019 and then tearing the Sandy Dragons trial games at the start of 2020. School footy form is now becoming a key platform for recruiter's now days. His form in that was quiet strong and that along with his draft combine is what got him drafted. A lot of phantom draft and draft talk had him around that pick 30 to 40 range.

I do agree that there is probably a little bit too much hype and personally I don't think he'll play round 1 nor do I think he'll start on the wing. I think he'll start forward and play his best footy there.

Nothing would be nicer than having Rozman running into instant success. Nobody would like this more than me.  However, in the way fate decrees and dictates,  please let us take and accept his journey as a one step at a time episode. Let's not burden him with our expectations, let's just allow whatever will be to be. He could be great, let's not Moz him.

Think you will be wrong on both counts DD although you may have some insider gossip or training secret!

If no others put their hand up as strongly as Fraser Then he had a great chance of Round 1 debut in front of the Demon faithful on the G!

And he is making the wing  his own so far If the notes and hype are true from Casey Fields onlookers.

One thing is his favour undoubtedly is his ready made physique and another his extreme tank and pace.

interesting times ahead no doubt!

One thing I left out of my training report because I'd already said a bit about rosman, is that he covers the ground.  You know how some players get involved in something, stop and think I need to go there but are then too late.   Rosman just goes.  It's a breaking the lines thing.  I think it's instinctive.  Langdon does it for us.

So does Lockhart Rivers and Hunt used to in defence!

Rosman would appear to be a strong candidate in our attempts to exploit the adjustments to the man-on-the-mark rules. Many teams are looking to have the man with the ball feeding to a teammate running past and exploiting the opponent not being able to move laterally to mitigate this. Something Geelong are working on heavily with Isaac Smith.

Rosman’s current skill levels will likely be the determining factor in choosing him for this role (if we elect to use this tactic).

Plenty of sensible comments here regarding tempering expectations but there’s no doubt this kid has attributes and qualities to get excited about. Every training report I’ve seen mentions how he stood out, caught the attention. Maybe that’s just because he’s a big unit and hard to miss but perhaps its because he is genuinely talented and already having an impact.

Its quite possibly he’ll fail to fire and fade away like plenty of draftees before him but I’m quite bullish about his prospects. I’m looking forward to see him play and hopefully the reality will match the hype.

The hype on this kid is getting a bit OTT.

He is a pick 34 without a long list of accomplishments, who is being lauded as a future champ by some, and its based on a few highlights and (admittedly impressive) aerobic capacity.

Poor kid should just be given the chance to see if he can play footy before we go gooey over him.

He is probably the perfect candidate to test our player development skills.

Quite right. He has two NAB Cup games under his belt as an underager in 2019.He's barely out of football kindergarten and some people think he's dux of the senior school.

Warning:  I've been a consistent track watcher for over 15 years and two of the most impressive PS trainers I've ever seen were Sam Blease and James Strauss.

I wish Rosman all the very best and will be thrilled if he is what we all want but like most I've not seen him play and I have no expectations - neither optimistic or pessimistic.

Excellent point made here. Until we see a bank of form whilst playing against grown men, let's not unfairly heap too much expectation on him.

Jeez... what a bunch of buzz kills some of the posters on here have become.

People have been declaring draftees to be champions since I started reading this page back in 2003.

Besides the tounge in cheek call that he will win a brownlow, all I think people are doing is getting excited because we have a 194cm endurance machine and we think he might be a player.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
