Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Welcome Bailey laurie, fast evasive and can really kick the ball, boy have we been looking for you, what a pick up. I think that the smile said it all. Well done JT and team three pearlers that fill the gaps that we had on the list. Two Baileys on the list and hopefully we will see them run out together some time in the near future.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harvey would be great FND but he also reminds me of that red head from Bombers who used to haunt us (his surname eludes me??). Ha ha.!!

Always makes me nervous when I see statements like this. We've had so many players drafted who were said to be great kicks. The problem was that they couldn't get the ball in the first place. Examples include Blease, Strauss, Maric, Toumpas and, to some extent, Watts.

I’m mates with someone very high up at Caulfield Grammar.

Said he’s an absolute ripper who has worked his guts out to improve after getting a scholarship in year 10. Freakish skills that remind him of Caleb Daniel with how he uses the footy. Comes from a great family with great values.

He also added Will Phillips will play 200 games and captain the Roos.

Bewick!

Berwick was a nice village in the south east of Melbourne that has now been overrun by urban sprawl!

That was definitely meant to say Bewick.

A close contact is on the Recruiting table of the Cats and whilst he never gives much away, he told me that the Cats moved to get ahead of the Dees because they had a strong belief that the Dees were taking Holmes with one of their first 2 Picks.

‘Personally, I found that amazing that at this stage of our list make-up and needs that we would use such a high pick on a speculative project player.

He stated that he liked what the Dees had done, particularly the Jake Bowie selection.

He didn’t have an opinion on why Jack Carroll had slipped so much.

Interesting, so it was Holmes & Bowey vs Bowey & Laurie.

Perhaps not a bad thing we were jumped

Trust me I think we have more of team needs with the two smalls plus theX factor of Rosman.

Time will tell however but I am not in any way disappointed with our 3 selections and again give JT and his team a huge tick and can't wait to see the results to add to the development of Jacko, Kossie and Riv.

I'm interested in the defensive side of Laurie's game. His offensive skills look good enough for him to really push for selection with our need for good ball users in the forward line.

It's an interesting mix we have of small forwards. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Here's some stating of the obvious for my own amusement mainly.

Kozzy is clearly the most talented and electric. His skills are already A grade, great mark and leap for his size and I was surprisingly impressed with how well he covered the ground with his running. Skies the limit. Just needs to mature and stay in games more.

ANB's main strength is still his tank and pressure/repeat pressure acts. Thought he was building a bit before he got rubbed out. Kicking not as bad as it used to be. Not the best decision maker.

Spargo has good skills, decision making and his pressure is probably the best of the lot perhaps. His size always an issue but intreaguing to see how he goes this year

Hunt has his speed and decent hands marking. Very average kick and I think lowest on the pecking order IMO. I don't see him playing but for depth this season, at least I hope.

Chandler is another forgotten mosquitto due to injury and lack of opportunity. In his one game he looked lively with his tackling and pressure. Hopefully adds to the competition for spots.

The above unpacking makes me think Laurie could slot in well with our need for better ball users and his creativity.

Note: I'm leaving out Sparrow and Bowey. I know they will both probably spend a fair bit of time forward but they both seem to be stronger up the ground and this stage and maybe less goal sense? Both have great potential regardless.

Bailey Laurie – Forward/Midfielder, 179cm, 78kg

There are a few boys from the Oakleigh Chargers that will have their names called out and one of them should be Bailey Laurie; a clever little small forward who can also provide some run and dash through the middle. It’s hard to get a full-time gig in there when you had Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson and Will Phillips running the show in the square – they made getting to the Grand Final look like it was a kick at the park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

But nonetheless, Laurie’s contribution to this amazing Chargers team shouldn’t be understated. He played seven games in return for six goals and averaged 15.3 disposals, three marks and 3.6 tackles per game playing more as a half-forward type. He puts in the hard yards as much as anyone else and has the innate ability to make things happen going forward with the footy, it would’ve been nice to see what he could’ve done in that Chargers midfield this year, he could’ve easily averaged 20 disposals per game.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
