Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just saw the Bowey incident.

Bloody well done to the senior players who went to bad for Bowey. Salem, May, Viney, Oliver all went in and had a crack at Daniher and made a statement right then.

Senior leaders right there.

I noticed it happen repeatedly throughout the night, and while it was obvious what they were aiming to do, they were actually some fairly p***weak efforts from the lions players. Would have almost given him more confidence.

Conceded that they were playing so they reverted to playing like dirty pr*cks.

Mathieson, Zorko and a few were repeated offenders.

Not sure I’d agree with the skinny kid assessment he has a decent build for his size and isn’t as easily pushed off the ball as many many other AFL players with much more experience

Anybody else get strong "Christian Salem 2.0" vibes from Bowey? Composed, precise skills, and goes a lot harder than he looks.

Imagine having two of 'em!

Yes there are certainly some similarities- both read the game well both have good vision and decision making - but I actually think Bowey could be better by foot eventually - he can kick the ball low and fast with precision whereas Salem tends to kick it a bit higher and slower (still a good kick obviously)

Maybe he will win the Rising Star Medal next year since he will be under the age limit and games limit.

His games have been excellent for his age and the fact that he played virtually no football last year but probably has been helped by Mark Williams and the fact that he was slowly brought along at Casey and not rushed into the team to fill holes in the team.

Most times young players get games gifted because they are high draft picks and rushed into the team before they are ready al la Jack Watts.

Wasn’t sure it was the right call having someone so inexperienced in the side ahead of proven players like Hibberd come finals time, but Bowey has proved himself to be capable already at such a young age. Well done to the recruiters for nailing this pick and well done to the club and Jake for his rapid development this year in challenging circumstances. Hopefully Bailey Laurie is of similar quality when he breaks into the team next year!

The recruitment of Bowey gives you insight exactly the kind of DNA of what is our key criteria in recruiting players. I'll put Charlie Spargo in this same bracket as Bowey.

It doesn't matter what size you are, skinny, small or age, if you've got the competitive streak in you to be able to compete at senior level with a touch of mental strength then you'll simply play in the  Simon Goodwin team.

I have voiced my concern over having an inexperienced Bowey down back in the past 2 finals but what he showed on the weekend was one of the more impressive displays I've seen from such a scrawny looking 18 year old.

Actually scrap that, he looks like a nerdy year 10 student who thrives off being more invested in gaming minecraft at home then playing in front of 60k in a prelim and actually contributing immensely.

I'm really sorry I doubted him the role in the team the past 2 weeks. He looked liked a 200 game veteran on the weekend and he stuck it right up me.

Kid must be on cloud 9 thinking how good is AFL footy? First year of footy and works into a minor premiership team and is about to play in his first AFL grand final.  I honestly feel for his parent who won't be able to be there on the day but he's bloody living every kids dream right now.

Happy Birthday Jake.

Bowser also more comfortable kicking with non-preferred.

I laughed when I saw the official AFL teamsheets that had him matched to Ratugalea but figured he could always reach up and tickle him.

To quote Spargs   "If you're good enough, you're tall enough.

Bowey was recruited for his clean ball use which is one of his many skills. Complements Salem well and will be a real gun with a bit more experience.

Our cleaner ball use and fierce tackling has had a major impact this year.  Less turnovers against and it takes longer for the ball to come back which gives time to set up down back.

I find it incredible that Bowey wasn’t more highly rated pre-draft.

I know he’s not of great stature, but he has excellent skills, excellent balance, excellent decision making and poise. He knows what he’s doing with the footy before he gets it in his hands. Like all the greats, he’s incredibly clean with the footy and his disposals are usually so quick, clean and decisive that the opposition has scant opportunity to stop it.
I’m delirious that we’ve unearthed another gem and can’t wait to see how his career progresses. I really don’t think the Sam Mitchell comparison was hyperbole.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
