Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You'd have to think that with our list where its at, in terms of talent and age, we really should be finishing top 4 next year. Ben Brown was the last major piece of the puzzle really. If he gets going from round 1 I think we're a good chance for that.

I'd just like to see our army of young'uns developed to the hilt, first and foremost. Bring this improving talent to a meaningful game plan and strategies, and we are on our way to the next GF.

Adem, it's basically up to you - but another thing I'd like to see is Jordan Lewis assisting you with this Team (forget Goodwin).

Imo he is the coach who is under the most pressure next season.

Need to make top 8 and not just scrape in and win a final or 2 at a minimum.

Personally I think we will waste another season next year and end up with a new coach again.

It will be how we play each quarter, each game, and every final.

The mental approach to training and the ntensity learned and applied.

We should also use our full squad to match up opponents, and rest players to rejuvenate while sacrificing players if necessary to win.

We should win the flag with this list and i will only accept being beaten by sides who just beat us in hard fought games where we are absolutely spent in competing.

If we continue to have umpiring decisions affecting our game we must make representation to the appropriate body. Players must be protected and allowed to play with confidence iif playing the ball.

I hope that's not the case as how many years of disappointment can a group of supporters put up with like Melbourne's supporters have?

What an absolute waste of a year 2021 will be if we miss finals once again with the caliber of players we now possess.

Could not agree more BBP. But I have zero confidence he will get the job done.

Ps I reckon Ross Lyon will be our coach in 2022

If that's the case we will win it in 2022.

Ross the boss would never have had as much ability at  his disposal at Saints  or Dockers  as this team could be by 2022.

Why settle for just a pass mark?  We're going for Dux!

Nothing less than the Premiership Cup and Flag.

I think this group is good enough to make finals in spite of Goodwin. That being the case making finals is not a pass. Top 4 and a clear demonstration we can mix it with the best teams. No honorable defeats or close calls. We have to beat the likes of Geelong and West Coast this year.

A senior Coach nowadays dies very little on hands work.

It is mostly coordination of the other coaches game plan and selection That occupy yome.

Try going along to training and see the Senior or Head Coach standing mostly in the middle of the oval observing and overseeing the groups who are directed  by line or strategy bosses.

I go to training all the 58 so I know what goes on

On many levels ie Game Plan and selection Goodwin needs help

Again if he is struggling in those aspects why do we need him

In light of the Chocco Williams appointment, my pass mark for 2021 has now gone from making the top 4 to a Grand Final appearance.

I have no faith it will happen with the current coach however he now has zero excuses with the team around him.

FMD - whats with the folk on here that bang on about 'no excuses'.

Is Yze God?

Is WIlliams the Messiah

Is Goodwin, Yze and Williams the Holy Trinity.

Unless I am mistaken, there are 17 other teams who have changed their FD structures, improved their lists (as much as they can) and are all aiming for the same things....chasing, hunting, whatever effing vernacular you want.

Top 8 is a pass, Top 4 is more than satisfactory....and then you just hope you don't bow out in straight sets.

If we fail to win a final in 2021 then it is a fail for Goodwin as well as Pert who oversaw internal reviews.

One way or another you will I code Perty as long as we don't win the flag.

Please dont post for a week if you can't give some positive contribution about the Club.  It's very tiresome.

Top 8 is 50% last time i checked

This MFC List and Football Department should be pushing for a Flag, well aware of how many Clubs are in the Competition, they are there to be beaten

In his 6 years Goodwin has had 4 experienced senior coaches mentor him or assist him:  Two premiership coaches, 1 assistant premiership coach.

Has any coach ever had the luxury of such experience?

We addressed our small fwd and wingman needs last night.  No gaps on the list.  Yes, always room for improvement but no gaps.

We now have our premiership list.

Injuries and covid aside, the things that have held us back in the last few years imv were:  a poor/inexperienced coaching panel (in particular the line coaches), sports science, an inconsistent and confusing game plan, list gaps.

Three of those 4 are now fixed.

The game plan is now the issue.  Pert has challenged Goodwin to develop a game plan that suits our list.  That is the key to our success and it rests with the coach.

A pass mark has to be more than comparison to two under performing years.   They set a very low bar.  Given we made a prelim in 2018, the improvement in the list, its experience, sports science and coaching panel since has been immense.  A 2021 pass mark can only be if we go deep into the finals.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
