Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes for me. Slots onto the wing and he can mentor the likes of Oskar Baker or James Jordan to play the role in the near future.

Not sure he can be a winger anymore.  He's no longer a two way runner like Langdon.  Pacy half forward is probably where I see him, not sure if he'd be worth the risk.

Agree. A friend who is a huge WCE fan says he checked out after the ‘18 flag. Hasn’t been able to climb the mountain again and any club who picked him up would be just feathering his retirement

Maybe a change of scene might get him going again, but he has gone downhill the last year or two. Certainly worth consideration at least. Prime Lewis Jetta (which obviously isn’t what we would be getting) would be just about the perfect compliment to our list.

If we were looking at Smith, then Lewis Jetta would be a really sound pick up and would cost less than Smith. All of it makes sense really and teh club of course should offer him a spot. we should just take pick 18 & 19 to the draft, this year thats all we need going in pretty blind to the draft.

If he gets 10-12 possessions on the wing, i reckon a lot of them would put us in a scoring opportunity, and foot skill is what we need, pace is great, but smarts and skill go a long way.

Imagine the lift it would give Nev and Kozzi and Toby to have him there, if we took a punt on HB, then 2 years for LJ.. no brainer.

Mahoney has said the pursuit of Smith was about leadership as much as outside run. The Hawthorn system coming with Yze surely played a role.

Lewis Jetta hasn’t played wing for years now and was never good at the contest, I don’t think he’d be good in that role. He’s been great at times for the Eagles at half back but he’s also had numerous flat spots and tailed off since 2018.

I don’t think he’s really up for the contest any more.

Theres a good likelihood Nev would like to have his cousin. Possibly Koz as well, assuming he’s also a relative. But Toby Bedford’s family is from a whole different part of WA and he grew up in Victoria. Strong indigenous representation at the club is important but I think it’s way too simplistic to suggest it does anything for any individuals. I don’t think Bedford would be impacted by Lewis Jetta at all.

All fair points and well made DeeSpencer, I still think having a premiership indigenous player at the club would give fellow indigenous players a good feeling, regardless of where they are from.

Worth looking into. If motivation is the issue, a move could reinvigorate his career. Clearly past his best but he is all class with ball in hand and something we lack on HB.

if his body is shot, then pass obviously

One needs more than a good feeling vibe to occupy a list spot in 2021. Don't think L Jetta has got the runs on the board on the last 2/3 years unless he lifts his ratings in many key factors.

Regrettably NO

Bringing in Jetta (or any other 30+ year old) would be a classic case of short-termism, a Goodwin specialty.

The list in 2021 will have Jones (33), Brown (31), Hibberd (31), Jetta (31), Melksham (30), Gawn (29), VandenBerg (29), May (29),  TMac (29) and Tomlinson (28). At least three of these guys (Jones, TMac and Nev) were cooked in 2020.

Our list profile has gone backwards since Roos.

Disagree - we'd be getting him for a late draft pick.  If it were at the expense of drafting some good talent in, then sure but it won't affect our early draft picks.

I think he's talking more about the age demographic of our list by adding a 30 year Lewis Jetta for a year.

for the player you're getting there are plenty of better players being tossed out of the system atm who are younger with upside for a similar output.

egg smith and cox in particular, we already have experienced players in that part of the ground in hibbo, nev, may, jones we dont need any more vet leaders, we need talented players to grow with the group for the next 5 years

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
