Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have driving all over Melbourne in my jobs for the 45 years I suggest you should make the drive. But I am not sure why we are going on with this this as the MFC have said on numerous occasions that facility has to be in the vicinity of the G. Port Melb. Is not in the vicinity of the G no matter how you look at it.

End of story.

Old you better tune up your van and make haste while you Juggle the Melways on your lap

There is no way its 10 minutes and if driving where do you park?

Not really this is the man who said no to 3 million dollars over 3 years, from the competitive fund, that was on offer from the AFL,  he said we don't need the extra coin because we make enough money, when he got rid of Joe, the Club had less then 1 million in debt, and our debt was over 5 million after 3 seasons with him at the top.

So many people blame Joe for a lot of things which you Gabriel actually did, how the sands of time has covered this men's tracks I don't know, maybe because Joe is a Jew, and Gabriel is not

Fair point, I wasn't a fan of how Joe was ousted from the club. He came to us when we barely escaped merging and the way he was disposed of so abruptly was unfair to him. You also make a good point that under Gabriel we got a lot worse with management, it's one of the great examples of a coup at a football club only making matters worse.

I'll blame my age at the time for not quite remembering things right. For a long time we just seemed to lurch from one poor management to another.

I think Port Melbourne is as good a spot as any. The whole area is ripe for development.

I lived in port all my life followed vfa port as same theme song & colours .. the Port Ground is ripe for development & the whole area is getting developed with fisherman’s bend project with thousands of new residents & new schools etc ..the opportunity to get in the local community & build supporter base is huge, partnership with port Melb fc in the vfl were both teams could train under one roof along with the admin is a huge upside..Would be & feel more like a suburban club not a club part of the MCC.

Well said. we will look back when the areas developed and it is an extension of the CBD and shake out heads again, just like the tennis centre. For every one of the old diehards like a few who commented here there would two or three new occupants looking to integrate into the community.

I have always found that the best decisions in life are made when one is confronted by choices.

It seems tome that by limiting themselves to the MCG area the Board has given itself a choice between something and nothing.

Something will win out as it always does because it appears better than nothing.

I would have had three competing programs... Casey, Goschs and another inner city area.. and competed them to the end.

Not sure your third choice exists DJ. That is the problem. It is Casey or Goschs.

It would appear that a significant number of posters on here for some reason don't believe a word of what Glen Bartlett has told us at the beginning of July about our new training facility. In his podcast he has clearly stated that:

- our new training and administration facility will be in the MCG precinct area.

- it will include a social club

- the training oval will not be MCG size - due to space restrictions

- we will have a second training facility at Casey (including MCG size oval, and a good sized indoor kicking area)

- the initial phase (to analyze option sites, establish the requirements for the new development, and recommend a preferred option) has been completed

- the second phase of the development is now in full swing - ie focusing on the preferred site only, and finalizing the Concept Master Plan for this site.

- the entire process from analysis, through concept development, to detailed design to construction completion was going to be about a 4 year process (from memory)

Until proven otherwise, I'm more than happy to not only believe what Glen has outlined, but also to be very excited about what he has outlined. Yes its too many years overdue, but it looks very real at the moment.

The strategy of Casey whilst not current board decision is baffling when you consider they want a home base near the mcg....

Demonsone, Bartlett also explained that when they researched the major sporting clubs around the world to determine best practice, he said that a large number of these major clubs had both a city base and a second base outside of the city. This is the concept we have apparently adopted - a city base in the MCG precinct area and a second at Casey.

He also did not explain that the teams he referred to were all the only team in the city they represent. The giveaway is phase 2 focusing on preferred location. Now if there is more than one MCG precinct location available then, I don now nuffing anymor

Could not agree more NC. It is the vicinity of the G and that is it. I have been trying to tell people on here for months. I don’t care where it is as long as it gets us the facilities that match most other clubs. The MFC board and 90% of members  want it close to the G. End of story.

Anyone else think it odd Bartlett hinted we are up to phase 2 of selecting between locations but will not tell members where these mystery locations are?

I don't think it's odd. There could be a number of reasons such as land value(ie, keeping it from becoming more expensive), Government directive (ie, if it's government owned land or a government-led project, the government might be insisting on secrecy) or not wanting to give those who may oppose the development opportunities to kill off the proposal before the funding is locked away.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
