Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Oscar McDonald

Plays the role exceptionally well. There was a reason he was named in the All Australian squad in just his 3rd year of AFL footy.

I expect him to go close this year going by his pre season form.

The only slight adjustment I'd personally make to our backline is I'd have Harrison Petty instead of Tomlinson.  Now there's a kid who's got enormous potential.

Agree on Petty, he has that rare ability to one clunk his overhead marks

The day we signed Daw (who I like) is the same day Carlton signed McDonald.

Therefore, the question is which of the two would you prefer?

The one that is fit, available and can help out our forward line depth in a time of need.

Not the one that will show a cameo or 2 at Casey on Saturday while our forward line is a mess 50ks down the Monash.

Folks, some perspective.

He was delisted for a reason. A good lad who didn’t deserve the abuse he copped here but who nonetheless I think deserved to be delisted.

He’s has 1 good game in a Carlton shirt. Let’s see how he goes next week. I’ll be happy for him if he’s successful but I won’t be second guessing our list decision if he is. I think the fresh start and new surrounds is what Oscar needed for his career. Best of luck to him.

Goodwin's days (games) are numbered and just making finals is not good enough. He has an elite list, if he can't do something with them, then we need someone who can.

I don’t believe we have an elite list at all.

We lack lock down small defenders, small forwards that can kick 20 a year, barely any and pacy players and Oscar Baker as our other winger.

And I can’t recall too many of the experts here suggesting we should play Oscar forward.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing indeed.

Agree. Funny without naming names, its the same usual hindsight hero's who've come out of the woodwork once again on this thread.

The same individuals that also wanted him delisted....

I’m happy for OMac landing a gig at the Blues and getting a few kicks last night. Being honest though, there is no way we would win a flag with OMac, Frost, ANB, TMac and Harmes (and maybe a couple of others whom I am loathe to name in fear of extreme castigation) in the same team. That is starting to change and is a very good thing.

I found it funny that a Farmer would support a McDonald. Ei ei oh....and my money is also on him being a spud farmer. Definitely not blue ribbon cattle.

Just love the reactions by supporters the morning after a match.

Carlton fans at work this morning -

“ We pick up Oscar on probably 100k for the season and in one half of footy he has shown more than McGovern has in 3 years and he’s on 700k plus a year.”

Physical pressure. Tacklers coming at you, no time and space. He rolled off the mark as is allowed these days with plenty of time and space. I wasn't referring to the mental pressure but it was also a bit of a free hit from that far out, and he might've just been going for the square anyway.

Of for heavens’ sake!!!! Even though he no longer plays for Dees he still can’t do anything impressive in your

I literally said he’s always been a good accurate penetrating kick. He used to do the same kicks - when given time and space - for us.

lol, Oscar's performance last night has been blown right out of proportion.

Due to a multitude of factors.

I'll comment on how he must feel and I'm happy for him.

At least it looked like he was playing free of worry.

He took his chance i guess in a half of footy.  One thing i did notice is he was playing with an intensity that he rarely showed with us.  Generally he just looked lethargic for most of his games with us and was often 2nd to the ball or having little effect in nullifying a contest.

Happy for him also.

He badly needed a fresh start.

We put a lot of games into him.

Hope it all comes to fruition at Carlton for him.

Keep up the intensity Oscar, it is required in the AFL.

Look old timer, I suggest you take the Rose coloured glasses off and take a hike. We've been a average [censored] club since 2006 because of having average footballers on our list like Oscar running around for far too long. It's [censored] like you that are happy accepting mediocrity for so long.

Just out of curiosity, why did you choose 2006? It's not like we dominated football in any other year from 1965 onward.

Classic footy fans. Five years of massacring the bloke, then has one good game elsewhere and we're idiots for sacking him.

Glad he did well, and hope he plays with them for years but geez let's wait a bit before jumping off the cliff like lemmings.

Good on you Bluey, I was waiting for this post.

Maybe you could be the one to start the " We got rid of the wrong Mac" thread.

The site needs a bit more fun.

Being a former Dee, I actually enjoyed the comment D17 but in reality all supporters share the same frustrations after a loss. Only have to look here with the comments on Lever and May early days.

Because I genuinely thought after that year we were going to be a powerhouse club.

How wrong was I...

So much MFCSS...

Oscar was delisted.  Has gone to a different environment and has performed ok.  Would not be in the Brownlow votes.  Sometimes a change in scenery , a change in environment, makes the difference.

how he goes at the scum is beyond our control.  You would have to say regardless of what he does there, the decision to delist him was the correct one for Melbourne at the time.  No regrets, hope he does ok.

perhaps we should let it go and re-evaluate at the end of the year?

I think we have a very even list of 4 parts. An equal ammount of elite players, average players, young unproven and for want of a better word...plodders.

Also a few elite players have gotten older and lost pace and skills.

Watching Richmond last night is a complete elite list.

Small forward or two would be excellent.

With Brayshaw having topsy turvy seasons snd Viney injuries, suddenly our glorified midfield looks lacking.

Browns injury is a huge blow because Weid although has shown glimpses has in no way shown signs of being an elite forward.

Trac, Gawn, Oliver, Lever, Salem and Langdon I think are the only players I would call elite.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
