Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Played 81 games which puts him equal 212th out of 1,358 players who played one or more games for the club. That puts him in the top 16% of all players. It's even better than that if you then add in all the players who were on the list but never played even one game.

He should be proud of what he's achieved.

Best 22 to gone after just one season.

He is one who I think was affected by the 666 rule.

His strength was zonal play, getting to where the ball was headed and killing it. He did his best work leaving his man, or choosing which option to go to, and when to push hard up the ground, leaving his man exposed, during our Diamond Defence phase. He would have been a great combo with Jake Lever if we had ever got the full zonal defence going for an extended period.

666 exposed his man on man strength weakness and only ok ability on the lead. May was brought in to take the number 1, but he still needed to play a role as a lock down/lead spoiling defender, occasionally being a 3rd man.

Unfortunately he is probably a little too tall and not agile enough to use his strengths playing the 3rd tall defender role in the current game. It isn't a surprise we tried players like Smith instead.

As others have said, 81 games is a great effort for a limited footballer. If people understood his role better, I think they would have more appreciation for those 81 games.

? that is incredible that of all of the players who have pulled on the jumper he sits in the top 16% for games played. Is that fair dinkum?

A mixed day for our Number 53 draft picks! Perhaps lucky we've traded out of our 2020 holding of that pick...

Thanks Oscar (and good luck Aaron). I'm remembering the good bits.

My 2 favourite Oscar moments.  1 - gets shunted aside by Jack Stevens in the goal square who goes on to kick the sealer.

2. Darwin v Crows. Marks the ball at half back, no Crows within 80 metres of him.He just stands there clueless until nearby Dees supporters start screaming at him to run. After what seems like an eternity a light bulb comes on & he runs off & kicks it.

What about the set shot against Adelaide in the dying minutes

His papers were stamped in one of the Cairns games when they had to send him to full forward just to stay out of everyone’s way.

Still, all credit to him for his 2018 season. He and Frost were our 2 key defenders during Melbourne’s best month of football since the year 2000.

Melbourne has spoken and every other afl team has said that they wouldn't give anything up for him. So that's his value, 0.  A big lesson for everyone to not overrate our own players.

a nice signing off was oscar starting the game in Brisbane against the Lions 15m off his opponent. Sums him up. Textbook smart, street smart, footy dumb.

Only 7 players have played more games than Oscar coming from draft pick 53... his brother being one of them. Oscar owes us nothing! As for the miserable souls who think that the announcement of a players delisting is a good opportunity to offer up their bilious appraisal of a loyal clubman's career... take your self-important, cold hearted, hopelessly flawed smugness to a club that cares... Collingwood!

PS: You know who you are!

The clever rolling kick from the back pocket to Harmes on Queen's Birthday. Harmes -> Watts -> glory!

I’m 42. If somebody said I could go back in time and play 80 games of footy for the Demons, but I’d have to put up with a few unhappy people having a crack at me over the internet, I’d say ‘sign me up’ every time.

I’m jealous of what Oscar achieved, and I hope he knows that’s the ultimate compliment.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
