Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agree with you AF to a certain degree, i just feel we need a more flexible F50. I think we are banking on Spargo, Hunt and Kosi to go to another level in 2021.

I don’t want us to be a copycat club, its a sign of weakness and will not defeat a Richmond side in september.

I happy with our conducted business in trade week.

Happy days.

Me too, but perhaps that'll come more from the strategy side of things, rather than personnel.

Just an interesting little aside from TMac’s manager Alex McDonald tonight, who said Tom had already lost 4kg in an attempt to regain his mobility and power running ability

If Tom could potentially get himself right for 2021, then he could almost be our best acquisition of the off season.

He did, but he also said, now that they know list sizes, they'll have further discussions.

Could be a rookie for depth. Might also find a spot somewhere else as a DFA

Yep, if I was the MFC, I'd be re-signing Oscar. A 1-2 year deal on small money. He becomes depth (hopefully).

A part of me feels that if we ended up moving Tmac on another player would have come through the door i.e Phillips etc.

I'm glad that Tmac has stayed at the club and can recapture his best footy and have a sound body and mind. Another big body to create pressure for spots Fwd/Back thats what we need this could be a real blessing for us going forward.

Still have the pre season draft to snare a smokey from somewhere you never know.

Our game plan will likely change a bit. Brown will take pressure off Weid and Jackson. He probably will not need to be a big goal kicker to be effective. He may allow Jackson to be a surprise package next year for us. Very tough to cover 3 good talls. I expect our small forwards will be busy crumbing the work of our talls .

Anything we get from Tmac going forward is an absolute bonus, nothing motivates better than people writing you off, im backing Tmac in.

Like a new signing for us if he produces in 2021.

I reckon you're spot on here.

I'm worried about Tom fitting in anywhere frankly, but let's see.

Problem with this idea is that we don't have any natural crumbers except for Kozzie and at a pinch, Spargo.

Don't forget we missed out on Issac Smith aswell. Time will tell if that was a bullet dodged or a sliding doors moment.

Feel so sorry for the bulldogs who have to deal with the fit issues of having so many good midfielders...

They really should have traded away good midfielders.

Ya know... coz... the fit and all...

That's an A+ grade midfield that has speed, ball winning and tackling. It's got everything really.

Luke will need that side to finish top 6 and win a final next year, minimum.

I think we did ok. I think the club did the best with what it could get given the hand they had. However for mine that doesn’t make up for the hole on the wing, and the other one in the forward pocket. I would have liked one of those plugged with a ready made player given our age profile and need to get a move on. I assume we are looking to the draft to solve those problems, but it doesn’t help 2021 - which is an interesting predicament given the open conversations had about the coaching staff’s KPI’s for next year.

eyes firmly on tippa, lipinski in a full dogs midfield and stack as potential early left field targets for next season. obviously jelly/whitfield and merrett are the big fish on our early radar

Viney has to play pressure forward. @Pollyanna and I have said it million times, but he and probably Harmes need to play forward. Sure, they'll get some midfield rotation too, but that could be the answer to the pressure forward problem.

Fritsch - Weideman - Pickett

Viney/Harmes - Brown - Jackson/Petracca

It's not a million miles from the West Coast forwardline in 2018.

I think we can find the balance here. I may have just overreacted before out of concern, thinking we needed more smalls, but if we keep everyone fit, I reckon we can structure that forward to add enough tackle pressure, but importantly be dangerousness enough to kick a winning score.

You love this to death, but the chances of it happening or slim to none.

Haha, indeed. I hope if I write it enough, it'll filter up to Goodwin. ;)

Given we haven't really been seeking small forwards this off season (with the exception of having a chat with Hind) and we've traded out Hannan, and been open to letting ANB go as well, it seems like we think we have the players on our list to apply enough pressure. Or that we're changing our forward system altogether.

Probably Mahoney's best performance over trade period to date. We are looking very well placed with 2 late first rounders, a decent second rounder and pick 50 which I believe we will try to consolidate into a better pick in coming days. Our last pick will be used to upgrade Lockhart to the senior list. Any talk of him moving on at the end of this year or next is just rubbish. Mahoney has shown his worth to the board with this masterstroke.

In theory we should be able to cover the small forward issue with Spargo and Bedford as well as Chandler there.

Fair concern about the wing though. I share them!

I wouldn't have Spargo, Bedford or Chandler in my best 22. I'm happy Spargo has a new contract though.

Still not 100% sure on trading so heavily into this draft at the expense of next year’s first rounder. We can still trade picks, so I wouldn’t be totally surprised to see us make more moves, but the club does seem pretty set on going for it in the here and now.

We do this most years now though. We'll worry about trading back into the first round next year if we need to. FA next year will also be an option.

I like your thinking, Tommy will be working his [censored] off to get back to where he was ( that is a guarantee) he won't leave anything in the tank, I will be backing him in.

Use him as a swingman depending on match ups, he would match up well against certain types of opponents,  forwards and defenders

I would like him to really get some aggression into his game and hit packs hard up forward and take big goal saving marks down back.

If he is playing as a defender he needs to use quick first option handballs and then protect the ball carrier

He will surprise a few if fit

It's mind boggling that he bulked up in the first place. Really keen to see how he goes in the pre-season time trials.

Hope he comes back hard next year.

There’s way too much sunshine and lollipops going on around here about TMac.

He’s being paid like a guy who should be in our top 5 players, and he’s currently not in the best 22. That money is poorly spent. Purely from a business perspective he should be gone, and the fact that he isn’t tells you the rest of the industry agrees he’s massively over valued.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
