Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That's the point, and it's reflected in his contract and selection. He's depth, but some here don't seem to have caught up with that and are still judging him against his draft order from 7 years ago.

Yes but is he even decent depth?

So Sam is a part time ruckman who is there to compete but can't win the ruck, only takes the occasional mark when playing forward. So what do people think he offers going forward because as soon as Max and Dogga are back there's no place for him.

..and by the way who plays next week?

One thing Weed can’t say is is hasn’t been given his chances.

He has just failed to grab them more often than not.

He isn't even AFL standard in any capacity, he'd be a bust if he was taken at pick 50, 7 years ago

Not sure why some people are bringing Ben Brown's form into the discussion. Weid hasn't shown he can play BBBs role when given opportunities.

I have more confidence in BBB turning his form around than Weid playing as a KPF. Same thing applied when T Mac was struggling. Weid was an inadequate replacement, and T Mac came good.

Most of those are because of injury. He is a vfl  talent pure and simple. He is getting games because of injuries. He has been selected the last two weeks because there was no one else. If DAW had not quit he would have been at Casey the last two weeks.

That's the whole point of him being depth.

Says it all loges, the Casey ruckman would make a better competition.

But that is really the issue .There wasn't a ruckman on the list available from Casey  .Gawn Jackson Daw and even Turner wern't available so it fell on Weed.Next pick for the centre square would have had to be one of the Browns and that would have been a challenge .At first blush Weed appeared to have done badly .He lost the hit outs 48/11 and dropped more marks than the 2 he took .However he contested to the extent that the Crows talls never controlled the game .Their hitouts were share between both midfields so no huge advantage was gained by them.I dont believe there was another player available who would have performed as well and it was fortunate Weed was on the list.

His game improved greatly in the 2nd half, and it helped keep the ball in our forward line

Kudos for the coaching he got at halftime and that he took it on

He was ok tonight and performed exactly as I expected he would.  As Melbourne supporters we have been spoilt by having Gawn for so long.  What we got to see tonight is how most teams fans feel when they play against Gawn.  O'Brien is a decent AFL ruck, a club B&F winner and has had a number of competitive duels with Gawn. Weid played within his limitations, provided a contest, was useful at ground level, tackled quite well but dropped some marks he could've taken.  O'Brien played well but didn't dominate as he could have.  I think he did his job.  Having said that, I'm very happy to have the skipper back on Thursday night.

Good way to put it.

Sam competes and the role was not built for him to excel in so why do people think he is going to excel?

He was in the right spots to be that centre win target on out kicks with Brown and that is what was needed to win. If he excelled in a his first game and first ruck with a very demanding role - that is disrespectful to ruckmen in general and to Gawn.

Hmmm, if we win the premiership this year, does Sam's contribution come into it? Or Bedfords?

Just like 2021? He played his part...

…. as did Majak despite never playing in the AFL team.  Depth helps the entire team develop.

He's too slow.

van Rooyen is athletic.  Sam is the opposite.

He's a gap filler at best.

Problem with Weid lack of intensity wish he had got some from his grandfather,

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
