Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes … but we do know he is a far better kick than he showed tonight.

Is he though?

only problem with dropping him is it drives his price down if thats the way we look at EOS but i haven't given up yet LT

Think we just have to play him until it either clicks or Ben Brown knocks down the door to kick him out of the team. I still have belief in him but needs to stick those marks and be more efficient in front of the sticks.

So has he kept his spot for next week based on that performance?

No doubt he has talent but he has effectively gone missing for large parts of all the games he’s played this year. His  set shots tonight showed a man devoid of confidence. He’s had his chance and now it’s time to let Ben Brown settle in the side.

Nup experiment  OVER ! emphatically would prefer BB and Even MB Just has not got it and maybe never will. We need Proven players and those who CAN mark and kick goals , he doesnt do it ! Time to call it for mine thats BB

So hip wood and Daniher went missing, should they be dropped?  Thought Sam did better tonight (apart from his kicking).  Clunked some marks, made good position (gave that front and centre goal to Kozzi) led solidly.  Keeps his place for mine.  If he finds his kicking boots there is 4-5 goals in him per game.

His oppponent was AA Full Back last year. He competed which provides the fodder for our smaller forwards.

Nup, would think Brown might come in next week.

Just think Weid is clearly the new whipping boy and the reactions to his performances are over the top.

I did not think he was that bad tonite. Kicking was poor but competed well. If you people think Ben Brown would be better then think again.

Hipwood was massive in the first half, Daniher is the most unpredictable player in the competition. But I don’t know much about Brisbane’s list, have they got a experienced full forward with three consecutive years of kicking 60+ plus goals sitting back in the seconds unable to get a game.

Again like the win last week against the dogs, when the game was effectively won Weid was not sighted. We know the talent is there but again, if Brown got dropped for a poor sighting against Carlton then it’s time for the Weid to go back.

Yes some reactions are, as you’ve mentioned before sometimes the disposal going inside fifty isn’t great but come finals that’s going to be par for course. I think an earlier poster nailed it when they said “when your only getting x number of possessions you need to be nailing those goals”. His kicking let him down tonight, we know he’s better than that.

Sam has no excuses next Monday. Most likely get Roughead. I'd expect Weid to kick 3+

The Bombres the following match. Similar story.

Yep, I'm just not in a rush to throw him away like some are. He really is still fairly young for a key forward and we need him there to take over from TMac and Brown as they wind up in a few years. He'll be in and out a little til end of next year I reckon.

Crumbs! If Weid had played as well as Hipwood we would have won by 10 goals . If I hear “  Weideman  nearly”  after yet another dropped mark I will scream

Do we trade him now, potentially for a 2nd round pick or do we let him battle away at the Casey Wind Tunnel for a year, by the end of which he'll be out of contract and off to a new home?

If we're bringing in BBB we may as well trade Weid now whilst he has some currency.

Weeds is a lock-in. The day will come and he will bag a casual 6! I think against the pies!

I don’t want to see him go either, but problem is as we know is there’s already not enough talent for 18 clubs as it stands. If we go deep into September and he’s not part of it, the offers will come. Still a long way to go this year, as we’ve already seen a lot can happen.

Didn’t see much at all tonight, but I did see him compete to bring the ball to ground against one of the games best defenders. Maybe that was his role, I’m not sure, unfortunately when he finally did take a good reactionary forward contested mark it was touched and then took the late one but shanked the kick.

Lucky for him Ben Brown has no VFL to get some form.

Weid will have one more match and then Ben Brown will have 4 matches. I reckon they are both aware of how goody will treat them. Everyone gets 4 matches. Melksham may be a special case.

Yeah for sure. I think the club will need to sell him on the future for him, learning under TMac and Brown and taking over across the next few years. Wouldn't blame him for moving on though.

A big issue with Weid is he just doesn't change direction fast enough on his back leads, and we don't find him over the top.

He had a play early tonight with Fritsch had the ball on the flank and I think it went to Spargo then eventually to Sam who sprinted all the way to the pocket to mark outside the Lions defender.

All he had to do was change direction early and Fritsch would've found him in the corridor. He's doing the team thing by making the ground big but he's not doing the smart thing for him by knowing when to hit up at it.

Andrews had 9 intercept touches but didn't dominate the game and Sam had moments when he was body on body or leading up that he looked like he had him beat.

But he has a lot of moments where his momentum is dragging him one way and he doesn't get to contest with any force. He's not the athlete of Jackson or McDonald. He has to get straight lines at the ball. Personally I'd love to see him get deeper forward earlier and lead up at it more. But they want him up the ground doing the team thing.

He tackled pretty well, scrapped for the ball and had a few crucial clean handballs. Wasn't a terrible effort against what might be the games best defender, but just wasn't what we hope to see.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
