Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most of goodwins problems stem from the fact he doesn’t really have a plan.

That’s why we make way too many selection changes and changes to our set up week to week.

why we’ve had 3 captains in 4 years

why the leadership group has changed every single year he’s been in charge

why we’re continually out coached on game day.

You can have the best assistants in the game, but if the coach doesn’t listen to them they count for squat. Our biggest coaching change will rely on Goodwin’s willingness to listen and be flexible in his coaching

If he doesn’t listen at the moment, he won’t have much of a choice now that Pert has got involved.

Its been all too obvious this year and has cost us games.

After 4 years do you see Goodwin developing a plan?

My mail for those interested.

1. Ben brown is likely to be a dee, money isn’t an issue with this deal it’s agreed in principal. We’ve made our pitch now Ben brown is taking some time to consider his options but we are at the front of the que, despite less money because were a vic based finals contender.

2. We made an approach to Nathan Bassett about joining as our forwards coach but he declined.

3. the club is actively looking to get back into the top 10 of the draft. Have had a keen interest in finlay McRae as lord nev mentioned for some time

4. Clayton Oliver was unhappy. He spoke to the power brokers at the club and he’s fine for now. Wouldn’t wanna have a bad year next year though.

5. issac Smith is going to be a demon. And the hawks know it. It was 50/50 but Adam yze coming appears to have got him to favour joining Melbourne

6. We’ve also made an approach to Tom Phillips. We’d ideally like that to be a straight swap for t Mac. Not sure where that sits.

You are very well informed. ?

Where's the evidence he does?

Doesn't work that way OD. The statement was made that he doesn't listen. If you have nothing to back it up, sit down.

Yes but by saying where is the evidence that he doesn't you are implying he does. I have no idea if he takes advice or not I just get the feeling he is single minded about how he wants the team to play. I think he is trying to make the players fit the plan which I see is not working. If he got a game plan that enabled the players to play to their strengths we might have more success.
But who knows I just Know we are not playing like a side that can play finals.

I don't wholly disagree with you here, OD, just that there's certainly evidence that Goodwin does listen to some extent, hence the changing of systems mid year a couple of times now, and other tweaks in season to certain areas of the back plan (the Diamond Defence, the no wingers, the two off the back of the square).

None of us can be completely sure, but I reckon we can point to more evidence that he's open to listening given how much we experiment. He can't possibly be behind all the ideas. It's a consultative process.

I think he does need strong leaders around him that challenge him though. Hopefully Pert, Yze and more to come, will do this.

I have heard that we are into Brown big time but that the situation at Norf has muddied the waters. 60/40 that we get him is what I have been told.

Big Macs on the table and not a lot of interest.

Not sure how this is going to work. Brown in but no Mac out, plus Weideman and Jackson?

Interesting about the Tom Phillips talks @CHF and @Dr evil

Do you see him coming across?

And have you heard about any talk regarding Nick Hind from St Kilda?

Nick hind and goody actually go quite a long way back so it doesn’t surprise me at all that we’d be interested. Which I definitely think we are.

I think Phillips himself would prefer to stay. Bit of a case of the pies trying to free up room. He’d be a great get though

It may have already been mentioned but how would we get back into the top 10 in this years draft to get Macrae if interested? Are we allowed to trade our 2021 first round?

Yes. I believe clubs are supposed to take 2 first rounders in a 4 year period. We used 2 last year, so we’ve bought ourselves some flexibility with future 1st pick trading.

I heard nothing on Hind. Regards Phillips - I believe we have spoken to him and I have no idea of the situation except that he is well regarded .

Bing, That may not be the final situation, there is a lot of water to flow under the bridge before it becomes clear.

Been mentioned here elsewhere. Preuss and pick 23 for GWS pick 9

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
