Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm for that. "We'll pay you later, we'll pay you later, we'll now ship you out" they got themself into this mess.

Exactly. I really hope Treloar digs in on this

Clubs must pay what they have stipulated.
back ending Contracts is a very dangerous ploy

5 years, with his hammies....then again players like Burgoyne and Higgins have had injury free runs in the 2nd half of their careers...as you say he does make us better.

Could we get another 100k out of Collingwood? I'm being greedy, but why not.

I doubt they'll pay $1.5M over 5 years but they'll definitely pay some.

would you trade Brayshaw (say to Freo) for the cap space and some extra pick currency to get Treloar? I'd be tempted.

Pies fans on BF complaining that they've required him to play more inside recently which is robbing his strengths.

You're probably right, but they'll still save $3mil over 5 years.

Brayshaw is a tough one.  He's the one player that could really burn you if the penny ever drops.

If we can't get his role right then you're better off doing a deal.  Can we get him to his full potential ?  Can he commit to being the best he can be ?

I do worry about Treloar's hamstrings, so would rather not trade a good player for him.  The Pies are desperate to salary dump, so it's a buyers market.

No H reported at 2 years at $900k and last 3 at “well over “ a $1m in each year. That could be at around $1.2m a year x 3. That is a nightmare situation.

Add those figures to health issues, dodgy hammies, a separation for a year from wife and child and poor disposal as a player and you are looking at destroying us and our culture.

Too big a risk, unless our commitment capped at say $400-$500 k a year, a trade of above pick 50 and a commitment from God that he plays for 5 years at a reasonable standard.

Otherwise move on and look at less disruptive and risky scenarios and players.

Imagine how our players would feel if he lost form and was gifted games because of the contract price being justified and generally just playing with an outside mid earning over a $1m a year, irrespective of who was paying him.

This deal could kill a club and is doing that right now to his present club. Players upset. Fans upset. Treloar upset.

I am over it. Try harder for Clark or Phillips or whoever.

Where are those numbers reported?

Contract for $900k - 1.2m/yr and you want Collingwood to pay $450 - 750k of it?  That is simply not going to happen in any world.

There are a number of aspects of this story that are raising red flags in terms of the question of recruiting Adam Treloar - the financial aspect, his physical and mental wellbeing, his family situation and the atmosphere of intrigue surrounding the whole story which is sending out the message that there’s a lot more to this that meets the eye. So much about this just doesn’t add up and any club that’s not fully informed should steer clear.

On top of all that, the situation unfolding at Collingwood with Treloar is turning into an unmitigated disaster for that club. No spin can hide the fact that the Pies have abandoned their war cry of “side by side we stick together” and they have to be concerned about their future, let alone about the precarious position they’ve placed their player in. And where is the AFLPA in all of this?

Just because Treloar is the one on the table doesn't mean he should be the target. Pies cap is a in a massive mess. Take your pick who you want and get in their ear. If he doesn't leave, nobody is getting a pay rise for the next 5 years.

The problem for me is who would you go at? Daicos probably the only one for me, and he won't move. What would he be on?

Drawing a line through Treloar, how much of his contract would we be prepared to absorb? 500k? Offer that to Daicos and ask him to move. He won't, but it compounds their cap problems.

Going off Mahoneys trade article, I highly doubt Treloar will be in the discussion.

Come on mate. As if Mahoney is going to come out and lay his cards on the table on the eve of trade week. It just doesn't happen that way, nor should it. He's postulating.

If you really wanted to do it, you could renegotiate with Treloar to have him on big money this year and then less in future years. I don't know if that's a great idea still, as you also lose the chance of being able to prepay money to free up future salary cap from for our important players.

I think it would depend on our salary cap position and Treloar's salary.

There's so much we don't know. All we know is that he's a good player on a lot of money and Collingwood are destroying their reputation in the industry.

Treloar is a very good player and would add to our side because of his breakaway speed. Even though he will be relatively inexpensive in terms of a trade, it’s probably not a risk I would want us to take. The salary (even after the Pies pay a chunk) and length of his contract are the big worry. He also plays an area where we are already well stocked. Plus he has soft tissue injury history and mental health problems. I get the temptation, but it is a big risk unless the Pies pay a third of the deal.

We still won't know even then.  If things turn out like he said in his recent quotes it could mean that he did indeed mean that  - or it could mean that other things he was working on didn't work out.

You offer Trelor $600-$650 for 3 years and Collingwood can top him up

Don't forget he's contracted until the end of 2025 for ~900k every year. So collingwood needs to do your top up for 5 years not 3 otherwise we are paying 900k for 2024 and 900k for 2025. Caller on trade radio said by foot he goes at 34% just then too :/.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
