Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lumumba sues AFL and Filth

Might be an interesting one of Nev to move into, I fear he could become a bit of a spokesperson for the Pies having to constantly field questions about a culture he has nothing to do with. Not unlike what Goddard had to do when he joined Essendon.

So what happened to the investigation announced by Collingwood in June? What is "everybody's truth"? What does Eddie mean by that remark.

Lumumba is pursuing the telling of the truth as he experienced it. Is it so hard for a club to say sorry and acknowledge wrongs if they were done? Denying everything doesn't make things magically go away. It only causes more hurt to the person who experienced the discrimination. This could have been settled before without court action. It seems Eddie doesn't want to admit his perfect family club is not so perfect in its treatment of certain individuals.

Notice Lumumba doesn't indicate he suffered the same experience at Melbourne.

A sad situation for all. Collingwood should take more ownership of what went on and just apologize. Sometimes that is all victims want to hear.

They nicknamed a black man “chimp”. He has witnesses to corroborate this. Collingwood and AFL have handled this terribly and will be shown up badly. It’s another reason why I dislike the suits that run the game. They proclaim how woke and right-on they are but as soon as the rubber hits the road it’s a different story.

There’s no doubt Lumumba is a temperamental character but he’s dead right here. I’m forward to seeing Collingwood and the AFL squirm.

Well said.   And as an aside to your comment, Just because he's tempermental ( which he may or may not be ) doesn't deny him his human rights to call out racism.

The Pies culture has plenty of form from the top on this issue.

REQUESTING A MEETING WITH BARACK OBAMA

Lumumba previously wrote a letter to the football world explaining why he wanted to meet with US President Barack Obama.

“This is about the voice of the children’s cries I still hear from the HIV-infected orphans I cared for in Africa, the millions of women violently abused throughout Australia, depressed men who see no other option but to end their lives through their own hands, indigenous youth following a chain of dysfunction, forgotten homeless mental health sufferers throughout Australia, and immigrants to Australia who have trouble integrating into Australian culture,” he said in the letter.

This is what he said back in his playing days.

He actually sounds like a nutcase, Obama has nothing to do with those things

Unless you accept that Obama was posing as the 'Saviour of the Free World', had received a Nobel Prize for being elected, that Lumumba, like many people in the so-called Free World, believed Obama had the capacity to actually make the world a better place for the dispossessed. Misguided, I grant you, but he shares that with the millions of mainly white people who believe the US stands for democracy and freedom.

You racial vilify  someone then the problem is with you. The problem is not Lumumba's however you made it for the 2 of you so you are held responsible.  It comes down to the club and whoever is in charge.

Lumumba has a right to sue and good on him. The club with whom he first played for in Collingwood  and the AFL.  This is a serious issue and it has to be cleaned up for the good of humanity and for the sake of our game.

  Heretier  Lumumber  deserves some peace.

It's hard not to roll your eyes at some of the things he has said in the past but whatever you think of the bloke he should never have been given a clearly racially charged nickname. Reading that story about Robert Muir you realise that there have probably been hundreds of cases where minority players have been given nicknames that they feel denigrates or humiliates them but they stay silent because they don't want to be "that guy". If Lumumba actually went to the Pies to complain about it (which he claims) and nothing was really done then they have done themselves no favours and deserve everything that comes their way.

And that has zero to do with him allegedly being racially vilified

As usual you are using the straw man line.

Big deal if he's an odd cat. Does that justify him being called a monkey?

So you don't like him because he's an attention seeker. Seems to me the one person on this thread seeking attention is you

  • 1 year later...

Watching the morning news on channel 9 apparently Lumumba has released an “explosive dossier” with new claims against Gary Pert and Nathan Buckley. The story said Lumumba was meant to hand over the dossier when Collingwood did their internal review into racism (yet these new claims are about inappropriate comments made and the playing of a video but not racism related) but didn’t trust them to act appropriately with it.

I can’t help but think why these claims weren’t raised earlier rather than the drip feed approach that seems to be happening….

Nothing on any AFL pages yet.

Lumumber has the right right to sue and Collingwood has the right to presumption of innocence.

I hate Collingwood so happy for them to cop a massive whack if these allegations stand up.

Some of the things Lumumber has said in the past are fanciful at best. I do hope it works out for him though and he finds his peace.

my view is that whilst I have no issues with the guy when at Melbourne, because our integrity is beyond reproach always,  I feel that he maybe losing some traction with his case against the Colliewobbles or that he wants more attention by the Press on his claims. A Court of Law would ask the same questions as to " why bring these matters forth now" ?

A simple answer is the relationship of the person to the experience and the trauma that has occurred.

I think as a society, we need to move beyond having a time frame on 'dealing' with things.

Recently, it took me 35 years to start to acknowledge my own trauma, that I am currently processing. And I'm a pretty well adjusted person that functions mostly well in society.

Would they? Is time passed considered to be relevant? (This is a serious question if any legally trained person could respond).

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
