Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

TMac on the Trade Table?

We've probably done the form, physical limitations and injury discussions here a fair bit, but wonder if TMac will see the writing on the wall and look for more opportunity elsewhere?

Signed until the end of 2022; but hard to know the remuneration situation given he re-signed only 6 games into his stellar 2018 season.

Turns 28 soon so might not want to be having to compete with young players for a spot, and plenty of teams would be willing to take a punt on him IMO.

Main obstacle could be him passing a physical pending how serious a toll his injuries have taken.

Reckon it's a bit of a 'watch this space' with TMac.

He is worth F'all in his current condition and lack of confidence

Hope he comes good but it appears highly unlikely

They sound like excuses, which ironically also fit in pefectly with the culture of the club.

....

I reckon if the players at training were hit by an asteroid, you'd be screaming 'excuses, excuses'.   Are you aware that excuses and reasons are not synonyms.

There ha to be something wrong with his body, can't accelerate, can't turn and can't jump.  His biggest asset was his running capacity, getting up and back, thats why he worked well with Hogan, both had really good running capacity so one worked up and created space behind.

I wouldn't say Steven May is in career best form. We coughed up a very high draft pick for a known gun of the competition.

Weideman hasn't improved. In fact he hasn't played 1 game that has come close to matching his 24, 3 goal game against Geelong in the 2018 finals.

Petracca has improved this year but the question has got to be asked why it took Goodwin 6 years to get him fit enough to play midfield.

Hibberd has been a previous All-australian. He has been good this year without being great.

Not even sure why you are mentioning the 3 draft picks. They are chosen by Jason Taylor and the jury is well and truly out on Pickett whose lack of composure has been stark. The proof will lie in 5 years time as to whether they become good afl players.

So out of the 44 players on the list maybe 2 or 3 players have improved under Goodwin. The rest have stayed the same or got worse. He needs to go. And we need less suppporters that are content with mediocrity or scraping into the finals.

Have people forgotten that we were aiming for top 4? I accept nothing less.

The majority of people that don't post, share my views. They are simply over the mfc and the endless promises of being a ruthless football club.

I don't share your views. I think you're an inveterate whinger with little knowledge of either football and the way football teams operate. The ludicrous criticism of Pickett is an example. His 'stark' lack of composure? He looked pretty composed the other day, when he moved the ball from one end of the ground to the other.  Took Goodwin 6 years to get Petracca fit enough?  Just stupid and wrong on several counts. Perhaps the silliest comment you've ever made - but there are plenty of contenders.

the fact that you don't acknowledge Picketts flaws is fine. In a full season, you're mentioning one piece of play? which is the best thing he has done all year.

how is it wrong regarding petracca? This is his first year playing fulltime mid. Why couldn't he be playing full time mid at least 1 or 2 seasons ago?  I'm yet to hear a reason. It doesn't take 5 years to build an aerobic base good enough to play midfield.

Yep, trade value won't be high, but I think IF he goes it's because he wants to leave not because we want to ship him off.

He has little  value to us in my opinion and is looking more and more like a liability when he plays

as I said our best outcome is that he comes good (Doubtfull) and plays a meaningfull role for the remainder of his contract

Melbourne’s current stance is that Tom will not play another game for the MFC and will be traded.
Obvious with only one game to go, but a lot will need to change for Tom to be on the list next year

Heard similar-ish, hence the thread. Was told he has requested a trade.

Didn't want to start a thread with that as there's a clique here that like to whinge when people post that kind of thing.

Laughable comment, Harmes had his best year in 2018 and Brayshaw came third in the Brownlow.

You literally have no idea.

and since then? what do you put the decline down to?

Like you, I could only speculate. Which is why I do not come on here and try to ram my speculation down others throats as if it were fact..

Tom Mitchell is down on form this year; do you blame Clarkson for that?

Should he depart, there is another bonus. OMac won't get game and will have to leave, too.

Send Tmac to North for Polec. Both contracted on good coin and on the outer.

It is very likely that the acquisition of Polec, a very good player on his day, will suit him immensely - and suit the style of game that our coaching wizards are trying to instil in our team. He gets the ball, has run and carry, and kicks effectively with a pre-disposed, upfield eye.

So why was he dropped this year by Norf?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
