Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Revamped VFL

I doubt it. The old VFL had 18 rounds if I recall.

This is all about money saving and getting effectively scratch matches for the cheapest price. Integrity of the comp will come a long second.

The other thing about that tweet is what is meant by "stand alone teams". Is that referring to the likes of Port Melbourne etc. If so you could have around 19-20 teams in the comp.

Just noticed KC from Casey posted a link to a Herald Sun report saying that the Northern Bullants would be a stand alone club come 2021.

Where does that leave Carlton, are they going to have there own seconds team?

Yes I believe 24 teams across conferences and potential for cross over matches with actuaries working through the draw and revolving fixtures.  NASA is being consulted by Gil to add more complexity and ensure everyone is totaled confused and bamboozled by the mess being created.

The right one, fortunately. He was down back for a while, but got so cold the coach moved him forward to prevent his joints siezing and he played a role, spearing the pill onto the chest of the winner of the Victorian U12's Lockett Look-a-like Comp.

I don't like the sound of this.

It screams of the AFL trying to have their cake and eat it to. In order to ensure that the NSW & Qld reserves teams are playing in a better standard competition, lets just dilute the competition that we have in Victoria to do so...

Personally I would of thought having the NSW teams join the VFL and the Qld teams join the SANFL would have been a better option and would probably have been more cost effective. But that's just me???

There's too much common sense and logic in this solution.

As with every aspect of our once great game, It needs "to be Gil'ed"

I.e. made as illogical and confusing as possible therefore slowly murdering the game.

Savvy move to work on the foundational 2 nd tier comp.

Can't be long before he turns his murderous hands to Auskick somehow.

Any new yet regarding the make up of this comp ??

Hope it goes back to Clubs reserves less complicated and ensures continuity of playing group and training

They cannot work out how many players teams at senior level are allowed yet. I think the reserves is running a bad second. Why you would want to start a competition with teams flying around the country in a virus affected year of 2021 is absolutely beyond me.

If the AFL bubble is with us for a while in 2021 it makes it very difficult to have a full second team comp as the top up players will need to live and work outside the bubble

I think it falls into that category of " felt like a good at the time" DJ.

Oh dear, Gil must have smoked the grass the took from the G, this is looking a mess?

Who was the rocket scientist who decided that the grass was a good idea and how much did it cost. Do they really think any Geelong or Richmond supporter gives a stuff? I know a few Richmond people and they are laughing themselves silly.

publicity stunt by rebel sport, and about $100k, plus various contracts for companies to dig up, transport, re-plant etc.

What a waste of $100k , these are the same people that tell the players you will have to take a pay cut. Beggars belief.

nah, rebel has said nothing of the sort

when a company offers you $100k plus the jobs that it creates to do a (pretty silly) publicity stunt i imagine the afl nearly bit their hands off taking the cheque from them

With the scrapping of the major second tier competitions on the east coast of the country due to COVID-19 for 2020, there will be a single replacement in 2021 meaning that the VFL and the old VFA will be no more. The NEAFL has been disbanded and the clubs that made up the previous competitions have been asked to lodge “expressions of interest” with the AFL by tomorrow.

At this stage we know that Melbourne will persevere with its Casey Demons alignment while Carlton have scrapped the Northern Blues (although this could see the return of the Preston Bullants. NEAFL club, the Canberra Demons has stated that it won’t take part in the new competition.

There may well be more than 20 teams in the new league next year with plenty of changes in the way the competition is conducted.

KPI #1 - have an even number of teams, to avoid the ludicrous situation where returning / recovering players are denied opportunities to play into form and press their claims due to recurring byes.

With the feeder competitions often starting and ending weeks after / before the AFL dates, having the bye in round 1 is even more of a disadvantage.

Very good point, especially as many of the players in the feeder competitions also need to have a real job as well.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
