Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brad Green on Board?

This might be unpopular but having followed Brad on Twitter I don’t observe a smart analytical mind at work.

Apart from the time he put Saty in his place.

Then again, the Hawks seemed to do just fine with Kennett in charge.

We've got a lot of smart analytical minds on the board already though don't we? Nice to have a former player and captain in there for some more footy perspective.

Have seen a bulk of his twitter work to understand the concern, however I wouldnt exactly say it correlates towards being inept when it comes to footy related business. Having someone like Green invested in the club is a big win imo.

I do go by the principal that the most qualified person should get the job.

I think back to when Jackson was president with Roos as Head Coach and basically director of football. We had a good balance of a good business mind who got us into a good position before leaving and footy man who knew what he was doing. To me despite some of the big words from Pert and Barlett, they don't know football like Roos did. Hopefully, Brad Green can with his experience of the game and his small time in a coaching box fill that void.

I think that this decision reflects a lot of Demonland opinion that we want to see more Melbourne people Involved in the running of our club. Come on Greeny get on board, you are a great choice.!!!!!

A captain for one year with a disaster of a team.

His assistant coaching career could be the best endorsement but he was under Malthouse and Brad Scott.

Have been asking for a Football Director on the Board for over two years.  Last time we had one was Greg Healy.

The club finally acknowledging a lack of football experience on the Board.

Great appointment in concept and Green in the role.

I just reckon when you look at our board, having a 250 game, former captain (also captained Int. rule FWIW), Bluey winner, Barassi Award winner in there is pretty handy given we're a footy club.

Mixed feelings but I'm leaning towards favorable based on character.

He's always struck me as a relatively humble person, which is probably the most important trait of a football director, given how loose the mandate is and how easily it can become a 'let me tell you' role in every part of football operations. (See Glenn Archer)

Of course, I'm not on Twitter so I could be missing some serious potatoes.

Getting Green and Yze back might be the beginning of Jnr Mc loving us again - maybe loving us enough to present the medal named in his honour at the BnF each year.

Not sure how I feel about this to be honest..

Agree.  Just because someone played football doesn't make them qualified, even on a football club board.

Have a look at other clubs  As an example, West coast have none and others that do are because the individual brings more than football experience e.g. Andrew Leoncelli in the past.

I'm all for having an ex player with a bit of football nous as part of our 'brains trust'.  Is Greeny that person?  I'm more than happy for Bartlett to make that call.

I love the idea of having the right 'heart and soul ' Melbourne people around the place in an official capacity.  Hopefully it's a stepping stone to building a stronger identity and a tighter culture.

I also love the idea that we seem to be leaving 'no stone un-turned'.

Go Dees!

Certainly good to have some footy knowledge on the board and Greeny is a good bloke.

It’s just a really tough time to be joining the board, not a lot of upside involved Id imagine. We almost have to make it clear that Green won’t have the weight of coaching and footy department decisions on his plate. Let him learn rather than take the heat for big decisions.

I love the Giants getting Jimmy Bartel. Dunstall would be the dream but he’d never do it. In terms of former Demons I’d love to get Al Nicholson.

Maybe Green’s the right guy for the job. It was so nice to see the past players energized in 2018, hopefully we can build on that

Port brought in a bunch of former players this season and sky rocketed with a numpty of a coach.

Truth is you can either way, but i don't think the brain's trust we have are better than what West Coast have as an example. If, after an internal review, the people that make the business decisions feel as if there is no football experience on the board then that's their call.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
