Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I really cannot understand comments such as this.

Being an AFL footballer is a career, just like any other career that any one of us might have (or have had), and so, AFL footballers, look to improve themselves and secure their futures, just like any of us do.  I had a career as a Technical Writer and when my manager left to go to a bigger and better company, he contacted me and asked if I'd like to move and join him at that company on better wages, with better conditions, and with more talented developers; I jumped at it, as I'm sure most would, and it certainly did not diminish my caring about doing the best work that I possibly could... in fact it had the exact opposite affect, it reinvigorated me.

On the flip side of that coin, I was working at a company called Oracle and at the age of 62 was made redundant.  Not so different to an AFL club delisting or trading players who are now surplus to their needs.  Do you regard the MFC with the same disdain, for only caring about winning flags and attracting large sponsorships at the expense of players like Oscar McDonald?  Has that diminished your love of football?

This, 100%. People complaining about Frawley 'mailing it in' have obviously never decided to move jobs. They're obviously still sitting around the company they joined when they were 18, miserable about the fact that the company continues to underperform the industry, but too loyal to leave for more money and some success. They're obviously not grown up enough to realise that a job is a job and they can always see the mates they've 'left behind' on the weekends like the rest of us. Assuming that they even like the people they are working with, which is a big assumption in any organisation, football clubs included.

As if.

I believe that playing a Team sport is different  at the AFL  sporting level and is quite different than a "day job" in some ways that you and I enjoy. These players are on performance contracts and that contract encompasses a Team attitude to win ultimate glory - a Premiership flag for The Team and its members. There is little loyalty in a Club these days......Should a player leave a Team for another Club then he does it selfishly for money and other glory and not for the spirit of the Team he left behind. Just read the St Kilda Web site where Frawley speaks of how lovely it is to be at St Kilda and his reasoning...  Wipe away the BS and you begin to see it is for money $$$  There is no loyalty to The Team.. You can disagree with me all you like  but I am entitled to my own opinion.

What a load of bunk.

I'm on a base salary and a bonus that is almost entirely linked to company performance.

Tell the me the difference - I'd love to hear it.

I don't want to buy into the general argument here, but if you get a bonus just because the company does well even if you didn't shine, then there is a difference.  (Also bonuses are not the same as getting better future contracts.)

Oh grow up. You know what I mean..  To spell it out in baby English... A Contracted player is a player whose 100% loyalty is to the Club ... As his 100% loyalty is to the Club therefore the Club own the terms of the contract for that player for the term of the contract

On your own there David.  Doubt u would find anyone that agrees with your comments.

Wow this is the most ridiculous thing posted here for a long time. How the hell can you compare a guy who hardly turned up for his 'job' to someone who still busts their rear end after 18 years at a company. And why is it stupid to stay and help the company out instead of bailing when it gets tough like you obviously did. Average comment.

As supporters we are all loyal. But how can we expect our players to feel like we do, when clubs give no loyalty to their players: look at OMac and the attempts to get rid of his brother. It starts with the draft, when a young man is recruited regardless of who he barracks for wants to play for. And on this site I have seen it seriously suggested that we get rid of Gawn, FFS! So where is loyalty supposed to come from?

As I remember it, in an attempt to tank we once played Chip on the forward line, making him look,  and no doubt feel, foolish. I don’t blame him leaving for greener pastures. The club’s job is to make OUR pastures green enough. And we should try to convince our players that one-club players get something in tangible in terms of the love of their supporters. That is an attractive asset, it seems to me,

The MFC has one job ultimately . To Win Premierships, and to do this contracts x amount of young players each year to compete

Since 1964 we have failed to fulfill our duty and purpose, from the Boardroom to the players.
too many players have left the MFC and found Premiership Glory elsewhere.
It sucks and it proves that this club is not held in high esteem.
Meanwhile the Club that lives 100 metres from us has won 3 out of the last 4 Premierships.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
