Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The key words for me are  "...deep dive into coaching program...".

Isn't this what Richardson's job was supposed to entail on a permanent/running basis, overseeing the coaching/coaches?

Out of interest, which club is cutting $3mil from their softcap without doing (at the minimum) an internal review?

It's such a nothing story.... Even the eventual Premiers will need to do a review including coaching.

Sure others will do a review to cut costs but the CEO won't be saying a reason is our 'inconsistent performances' and single out the coaching department.  He knows it is broken and will fix it.

Yes it’s always good to heear from the CEO and to know who is running the investigation.

I'm glad Pert is doing this.

He was part of the architect that built the powerhouse that is Collingwood into such a powerful club that it is today.

He knows and has seen success.

I'm not sure Collingwood is such a powerhouse any more. It used to have the most members and now it doesn't. It has won a single Premiership in the last 30 years (OK, two if you want to count 1990...in which case you could argue it's only won two in 62 years). And I sense it is no longer the club most "hated" by opposition suporters, which was a badge of honour it wore with pride.

I'm not having a go at Pert. I have no idea whether he's a good CEO or not. But I don't think he Made Collingwood Great Again.

They play finals 90% of the time that makes them a power house in my world LDC. We should be so poor.

Hey OD. I don't mean to pull you up specifically but in a post-truth world we should all do our bit. Since the Roos-Goodwin era the Pies have qualified for the finals at a rate of around 40% - with them shading us by half a game this year (one goal in one game to us and they drop to under 30%). It's a small sample-size but Buckley has also been granted eight years at the helm to date, having taken over a grand-final-quality team with a pretty decent list balance.

I wondered if anyone would notice but of course that is fake news. Actually I was thinking the longer term like the last half century. Now don’t produce the stats that say it is only 80%. Two fake news items  in the one day will be too much for me!!!!

PS there is no chance Goodwin will get 8 years without a flag.

Collingwood get hit with the injury stick every year, Buckley has had the worst luck

Hopefully we get rid of Richardson, saints came good after he left. A waste of money.

Would be good if Mahoney was jettisoned too but that won't happen I suppose.

I don’t know why it’s so outrageous for shareholders to want to know what is happening with the business they’re investing in.

The club is asking me to fork $600+ in a very tough economy. The least they could do is tell me they’re not happy with constantly being a mediocre performer and that they’re trying to change things to improve performance. It’s what I would expect any entity reliant so heavily on investor dollars to do.

Those who constantly put down members who want to know what’s going on and the plan the club has to improve is bewildering. Why shouldn’t we be entitled to the plans the club has in place? Or are we meant to be happy with a 56 year lack of success?

Agree 100%

Same supporters that are happy that we had more wins than last year. Another failed year where players and supporters have had enough.

We laugh at Essendon with the imploding of players, but that could be us this time next year if we miss finals again.

Seems to align with what some have already said on here about a potential general manager's role.

While I think Mahoney's time is up if he is made the scapegoat and we go into 2021 with basically the same list of assistant coaches and FD staff it will be a joke.

I think Mahoney comes across very well.

He’s always struck me as a very competent, knowledgeable and experienced football club GM.

I don’t reckon he’s the problem.

He dropped the ball with last year's review failing to make significant changes to the FD and instead electing to shuffle the deck chairs. He does seem to have a good record of "getting his man" which can't be understated and I would be extremely reluctant to move him on in place of Richardson who doesnt do much for me. But he has been around for a long time, hasn't helped foster and environment of success and there is the nagging issue of the CEO position.

I think it's time for him to move on but it depends on who will replace him.

An important point. You should only move someone on if you think there's a better option available.

We're not shareholders and we're not investing, we're buying memberships (a product).

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
