Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Let alone Weideman. Sounds like his  cards are marked if this is to be believed.

Yes, and Adonski may be right about TMac.

Personally, I don't care about him being on the older side - we are all about winning flags in the next few years.

I am also ambivalent about the trade period in late August... What is this feeling??!!

Who here would do this

Jackson to Freo for Cerra and Pick 8

Pick 8 and 34 (plus change) to Richmond for picks 11 + 16

Pick 16 to Collingwood for Maynard

Gunston as free agent

In: Cerra, Maynard, Gunston, Pick 11 (Mac Andrew)

Out: L. Jackson, P34

Da fuq?

We should be signing Jackson to a 10 year deal not trading him out.

I remember when we were [censored] and we would trade in fringe players from successful clubs while paying overs on the premise that they were from clubs with high standards and they would bring those standards to the dees. Players like Shannon Brnes, Tom Gillies, Chris Dawes and Viv Michie come to mind. Can probably include Heretier Lamumba in there too.

We should try to capitalise on our own success and attempt the same, trade out our fringe players to [censored] teams with the sales pitch they will bring strong standards. Let’s start with Oscar Baker to North

No way get rid of Jackson for Cerra.

Collingwood will be interested in points to get Daicos we could get Maynard on the cheap.

Gunston isn't a free agent. He signed to the Hawks until 2022.

If we are to spend any capital going after some one it needs to be another key fwd. Tmac is back to his 2019/20 form post bye. Ben Brown looks extremely limited as a player. Jackson could be anything but I don’t see him as a main target fwd long term.

Short term for next year I’d be getting Tex Walker in the door, because of his recent issue he would come basically free I’d imagine so nothing to loose there.

Long term I’d be trying to get Ben King in the door post 2022, feel like he is almost certainly heading back to Melbourne, Tigers managed with Lynch in there flag window so no reason we couldn’t do the same.

jacko will be one of Melb’s all time greats.

could be the best player in the league in a few years.

I think Patrick Naish, son of former Richmond player Chris Naish, would be a very handy pick up for the Demons.

He could play as a wingman and he apparently has excellent disposal. He is only 22 years old and has been starved of opportunities at the Tigers.

He played in Richmond's VFL Premiership side in 2019. This year in the VFL Patrick also averaged 29 disposals and a goal a game. I think those numbers are impressive.

He was an under 18 All Australian in 2017. However, Richmond has delisted him bizarrely.

I think he could be an excellent addition to our side and would definitely be hungry for senior games and for Premiership success at the Demons.

What have we got to trade with? Our 3 picks in this years draft aren’t great already. If we trade next years first round does that mean we can’t trade any other picks from next year?

Be great to bring in a player who can improve the side next year,  but we have to give JT a fair crack at this years draft as well. He’s proved too good a selecting talent not to.
It doesn’t seem that we have as much room to manoeuvre as in previous trade/ draft windows. To be expected I suppose  when you are top of the table.

Trade Weid (his cards are marked by the looks of it), Petty move forward, Thommo resume his role in defence.

Weid is our future. We have invested in him and need to build his physique to absorb the hits he gets. Perhaps has a bit of the Hawkins about him and has some excellent mentors in TMac and Brown.

Now is the time ( at the beginning of our decade of demon dominance) to develop loyalty and commitment to teammates and structures. Respect players desires but ensure they understand the long term visions of the club.Certainly loyalty is a two way concept and needs to be shown and given.

I'm sure our Indigenous boys would be thrilled having Tex at the club. There isn't nothing to lose, stuff like that can hurt your culture.

I'm interested how Weid has any similarity to Hawkins? Hawkins is a terrific ground level player who as we saw on the weekend can  pick the ball up and snap around his body with ease, have you ever seen Weid do anything like that? Hawkins is powerful off the lead which allows him to get to space on his opponent and is extremely smart with where he is leading and his leading patterns like doubling back, when does Weid ever do that? Hawkins is a 1 grab player who knows how to use his body perfectly and is a dead-eye shot at goal, does Weid do that? It's Weideman's 6th AFL season! sometimes you just gotta face the facts he just isn't that skilled a player, I think a fresh start somewhere else would be best for him.

I like Maynard and he would make us better. However I would rather use whatever space is left in the cap or draft position to target a mid. I think it is a bigger priority for us

Except that Maynard could enable Rivers, or even Salem (or Bowey in time) to develop as mids, or to release Brayshaw back in there.

The Anti-Oracle has spoken once again! Whatever is said by the great Olisik - the opposite shall come to pass.

So shall it be.

This is one of my longer running bits, hasn’t sunk into the culture like MFCSS has but it’s on point.

Maybe the Cerra dees report is a subtle way of teasing any Melb players wanting to go to Perth to show their hand.

Be careful @Winter Dan i was shot down for pointing out the same the other day.

My take is hold onto rough diamonds (LJ). Midfielders and half backs are a dime a dozen.  I wouldnt be a fan of letting LJ go as others have pointed out he has too much upside and is already proving to be a unique utility player.

As for Rivers or Brayshaw (as the other WA boys) if they expressed a willingness to leave (very doubtful) then that is when i'd entertain the Cerra trade.

The other component to this equation is whether Cerra would take a shorter term lower wage (again doubtful) 2 years @500-550K / year to fit into our cap. If he proves himself, then a heft pay packet will await him 2 years later.

Too many roadblocks to contend with imho.

Its an interesting consideration. I like the idea of having Bowey play an outside role. Rivers feels like he has good inside/outside skills as well.

What does this do to our existing depth players (JJ, Sparrow, Harmes and to an extent Brayshaw). When Tommo comes back next year or if Weid fines some form, we then have to contend with having TMac/Tommo as potential wingers to get into the 22.

So many options that my head hurts :)

You need to be careful.  I'm fairly sure it was Olisik that was HUGE on Oliver right from the get go.  He copped a lot of criticism with people wanting Parish.

That said all I'm really saying is evaluate the idea, not who delivers it.

In my view Maynard does not add value for money.  Saying he is a replacement for Hibbo is misplaced, Hibbo isn't getting a game with both Hunt and Tomlinson out.  I'm a believer that Tomlinson can fit with May, Lever and Petty.

We clearly have a tight salary cap.  We have Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Sparrow, Jordon, Petty, Spargo and Bowey who were in our 23 on Saturday and are 22 or under.  They will need TPP space and I don't think our oldies are on big coin.

Maynard is not a priority I don't think.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
