Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We used two last year so we're in credit.

Close. Every four years you need to use at least 2.

We used 2 last year so therefore don't need to use on until 2024.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/202143/future-trading-given-goahead-but-with-restrictions

-       Clubs can trade one year in the future only.

-       Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks.

-       If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds.

I honestly think that we need to start specifically targeting guys that are straight kicks for goal. I'm not sure if we can carry Fritsch, Weideman, Pickett, Jackson and Gawn (when forward). All are pretty bad set shot kicks for goal. Ironically its Ben Browns best asset but he isn't in the 22 at the moment. I feel that we need someone who consolidates opportunities better. Like a Luke Breust type would be perfect in my opinion and I reckon the hawks would be open to trading him given the demographics of their list.

We know the Doggies are spoilt for choice in the midfield department and it seems they will also face similar list challenges in their forward line. With Bruce, Naughton and English already settled and JUH knocking on the door, they have a conundrum in what to do with their tall forward stocks.

Is a forward line of English, Naughton, Bruce and JUH with a rotating Bont too tall? I think someone, somewhere will be squeezed out. Bruce/English are probably a lock for FF with English rotating in the ruck and Naughton is an absolute lock as your spearhead CHF.

I wonder if JUH is gettable. We should definitely pick up the phone to his management and make a play.

They also have Luke Darcy's kid as a F/S coming through

What would they ask for JUH? Probably want an early 1st rounder plus a key back like Petty/Tomlinson or 2 first rounders minimum.

whatever it is, they'll come out laughing considering JUH was gifted to them.

I like Breust as a target and also think we should be going for players who are deadly in front of goal. But you are being a bit harsh on your list.

Fritsch has kicked 28.13 this year. He was ordinary last year but he has been excellent this year.

Weideman kicked 19.8 last year and he has had the yips this year. He has kicked 49.29 for his career.

Pickett and Jackson are second year players and don't appear to have fundamental techincal flaws. We should be confident that they will be at least average in front of goal.

Gawn will always be 50/50.

I think those numbers flatter Fritsch a little, he has definitely had a few not register a score or go out of bounds on the full

I am sure our cap is full to the brink. In saying that, I think forwards and outside midfielders are the most needed from an MFC list perspective. Here is a list of players I would think about:

Charlie Curnow would be a player who could be anything and could be convinced in the need for a fresh start. It would be a risky move but could be a risk worth taking.

The Saints seem to be keen on Ben King and so Tim Membrey could be potentially on the move.

Breust is still a clever player who would add to our side.

Gunston would be worth considering.

Sidebottom is a player who the Pies might be willing to let go for the right pick.

De Goey is another player the Pies may look to let go for cap reasons.

Seedsman is a very good player.

Ed Richards is finally getting an AFL game but would suit our side.

Yep exactly - i just dont know how they'd be able to keep all of those players on their list. We will definitely be going [censored]-for-tat with this mob for the next few years.

JUH is unproven so i doubt it would command anything more than a top 10 pick (in terms of trade value). I think they'd be after a mature age player (key back) plus a 2nd rounder. I cant see how Petty factors into that mix unless he really has some top ranking performances between now and end of year.

I really liked the mix of May, Tomo and Lever so would be unwilling to let go of Tomo for an unproven forward.

I reckon the Doggies are in the drivers seat here and could take JUH to any club for a key backman... Imagine what a Darcy Moore would do for that team!

Not sure whether we will look to trade any players in this year. We will lose some older players not getting a game trough retirement and delisting of some others that have been around for a while.

Injuries for the remaining part of the year may affect trade in decisions.

We may trade in to get a ready made depth players depending on assessed progress of our recent draft picks, Bowey, Laurie, DeClasse, Turner etc.

Interesting the Twomey on the AFL website has ranked our NGA player Andrew Mac at 9 in his rankings. Typical if he goes top 20 we cannot match this year. There are a number of clubs looking for mobile rucks. Talk about crappy timing.

yeah 100% the most unfair system going around.

Given we will likely lose a bit of experience this year, I'd like to see the club seek out a few older players happy to take a pay cut for a crack at a flag.

Likely outs: Jones, Jetta, Baker, vandenBerg, Nietschke, Bradtke & Smith.

Potential options: Seedsman, Sidebottom, Breust, Billings, Gunston plus I'm sure there are more.

Also look to add Maynard and a few draftees and we are set for another crack in 2022.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
