I'd trade Max if the right offer came along, but the club won't do it and I doubt there'd be a good enough offer on the market.

I loved this Max fox footy graphic so much that I had to pause and rewind repeatedly to catch it in the split second. Seems an apt response here ?

I’d argue Clarry and Trac are more easily replaceable than May, but wouldn’t trade any of the 3.

I reckon the ruck role is less significant than ever, so Max could be done for the right deal

It's very difficult to get elite talent like Clarry and Trac. We've never had two midfielders as good as them in my 33 years following the club, whereas very good ruckmen can be brought in off the rookie list. Time and again we've seen this. Midfields win flags.

I love this. When someone posted his 2018 highlights here, I couldn't believe how lean he was.

I know he's looked pretty cooked the last couple of seasons, but he's just such a unique player at his best and I'd hate for us to be be paying half of his salary to be torching us on the G' next season.

Yeah I find TMac and the forward situation interesting.

If he can get some agility and running capacity back he would have trade value but would be worth keeping - his general fitness will be handy if the game lengths go back to normal.  If he can't recover his agilty, he's not worth keeping and wouldn't have much trade currency.  Looks like next year will be his last chance (with us or anyone else).  

This year there appears to be a lot of big name key forwards that may be gettable.  Maybe some are NQR but often a new club is what they need - Danither, Brown, Cameron etc are all big names that have been in the top group of players at the peak of their powers.  Not against us going after one.  But at the same time, I feel like most of the key forwards are FF and i think this is weid's best position.  What is the Weid's ceiling if we get everything else right? 

I think our issue is really the CHF connection (arguably about the midfielders more than forwards).  So ironically maybe a fit (and agile) TMac (and doubly ironically a Hogan) would be better for our team than one of the aforementioned  key forwards if it means we can chase some run and class through the middle instead of landing one of the big (but NQR) fish.

But if we don't land a key forward this trade period, we are clearly going all in on Weid, Tmac (our) Brown and Petty which doesn't fill me with confidence after the last 2 years.

Really wanna give Tmac a bit of a pump up! 

it's been a very hard year for the big fella, young child, in the hub, not playing good footy, not having confidence in his body. 

He's got plenty of interest out there, so for him to decide he wants to get back to his best with the MFC is awesome in my opinion. 

I really do hope that Burgo can get him onto a great program, a full pre season and we can see 2018 TMAC again because if he can get back to that form, and Weideman continues to develop suddenly our forward half looks a heck of a lot more dangerous.

Hope you're right... but there's a reasonable chance his body is cooked.  Do we know he has plenty of interest out there?  He's done very little since 2018.

Hasn’t Tom basically got fused ankles from operations?

I’m unable to see how dropping weight is going to help his agility if his ankles mobility is severely restricted.

Ok so we have 5/6 absolute untouchables who have delivered.

Happy with that and we should pay them very handsomely. If we don’t others will.

If we lose any of them, it doesn’t do much for our brand, our supporters, the playing group and it tears the heart out of the club.

This was always what we hoped for wasn’t it , to have a core of 1/2 dozen leaders that at least make us competitive and to be able to build further on that?

Ex new recruits  ,the rest of our playing group are under the spotlight as they simply haven’t delivered.

Can't agree A F, Max is untouchable because he's more than just his value as a player (which is obviously immense).

He's our most marketable asset IMO and as well as being the captain he's also the spiritual leader and is a real 'father' figure to a lot of the younger guys. His tenacity and attitude to training etc is invaluable.

My view on veterans is that they offer are better value return than draft picks. Geelong's model is the one to follow. The Cats have managed to beat the system by attracting veterans to help them stay in the finals race. This success means that their stars take less money. And in an era of free agency, being successful also helps attract quality free agents. The Cat's short-term strategy also has shown to have long term rewards.

This is not to say Lewis Jetta is the player to target, as he might be finished, but he has pace and skill, which we are lacking.

Gee I'm glad you don't work for the club. This is cultural suicide in a team which lacks enough of it already.

thats not why they've fallen off the perch, the pre-existing talent they had and all the veterans they recruited were in the same age bracket therefore they all came to the end of their careers at the same time. and due to their successes everyone behind them on the list was unproven, unseen at senior level and now theyve lost all the veterans as a natural outcome they're left with no strong foundations to rebuild from

Is it worth talking about Parfitt? Doubtful that he will leave Geelong but still remains unsigned. Would add a point of difference to our midfield with his speed and would do so relatively cheaply.
