Posting Unsubstantiated Rumours on this Website is Strictly Forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

People are crying out for players with pace. Hunt gives us that.

People want goalkickers.
Hunt gives us that.

He should have been back in the team earlier but somehow Goodwin preferred Hannan and continued playing a disappointing Melksham.

Hunt on this year's form is a much better option than either Hannan who goes missing for large chunks of games and Melksham who picks and chooses when he'll have a go - he's too half hearted when he tackles and is lazy at times.

Hunt has the same knock as Hannan in that he goes MIA far too often. I also agree that he was on par with Melksham for much of the year but Melks got a blessed free ride all year.

Hunt looks like the sort of player who’d thrive on the wing, pretty sure we tried it and it failed.

I hope Hunt gets retained as a HFF, pick him instead of Melksham.

Four weeks ago he was set to be delisted. He has a couple of passable games and ... "Look at me"

Would be very upset if MFC falls for the three card trick

He looked like being delisted because the same math committee that decided to pick Preuss when torrential rain was forecast wasn't picking him.

Ditto. I rate him as a player, and I reckon it’s highly unlikely that we’d get commensurate value for him in a trade.

I used to defer to the ‘experts’ at the club on these matters. No longer though, they have a well established track record in being absolutely inept on such matters.

He’s a required player.

No doubt he’ll be traded for a cheap 15 inch plasma, or even worse just delisted.

When Goodwin traded our last quick player in Frosty our Defence got better. Speed is only valuable if used in the context of the game plan...

My question on Hunt and his development this year is not about his speed or ability to kick goals, but his ability to complement and serve as a cog within the broader system Goodwins putting together.

If not, like Frost, then trade him.

Paul please explain Goodwins' broarder system alledgedly under construction

I see no evidence of anything that remotely looks like a workable and sustainable game plan

I'm really interested to know?

He does go missing way too often but he’s a natural goal kicker and we don’t have too many of that ilk. His goal kicking talents were on display last week and other clubs would’ve taken notice.

I’d keep him ahead of other inconsistent players such as Hannan, but concede that we’ll probably have another Kent situation where another club offers him a 3 year deal versus our 1 year offer.

Melksham frustrates me - he does sweet nothing and does these feeble tackling attempts.

I would only keep one of Hannan and Hunt. Hunt would be my choice. Both are inconsistent in game and quarter but Hunt’s best is better and I believe has the more positional flexibility and scope to improve both consistently and impact. In saying that I will not be too concerned if Neither are there as there is a large gap between their best and worst.

To be fair, getting rid of Frost was a minor part in why our defence got better. Steven May being his replacement is like 99% of the reason.

No question about keeping Hunt and making a realistic offer to achieve this. Not as negative about Melksham as many others. When he is on fire, he is a good contributor (and still ahead of some on our list)!

I would like to see him used more at kick in set plays.

Set up at central CHB, and, break to the opposite side of the ground to Gawn for a potential fast play options.

We were too predictable and too happy to force a stoppage. It would be nice to try and break the lines and force the ball into attack quicker.

Hunt that is...

A favoured player for many of us and a sponsored Demonland player as well.

Out of contract at the end of this year.

My guess is a low one year contract with match incentives but is he worth that and will he try the trade market.

Hard decision which will be influenced by who else we let go but interested to hear if others think there is merit in retaining him.

On a side note I see Melksham is contracted until end 2022 which is starting to look like one year too many perhaps.

2017 was his best year. Running off half back.... I'd forgive a few errant kicks for someone who can burn the turf and carry the ball like he does. That is when he doesn't appear to be the coaches whipping boy.  At his best he's well worth keeping.... He can't be at his best when he's played deep forward instead of half back flank.  I'd love to have Hunty in a Doggies jumper but somehow that won't happen.

Hunt being moved from the backline and Frost being traded weren't coincidences.

    BINARY by Whispering Jack

This week Melbourne takes on Hawthorn hot on the heels of a six-day break after its encouraging response to a disappointing season opener in steamy Sydney. The Hawks were disappointingly wasteful last week, but they also failed to bring sufficient pressure into the contest and, as a consequence, the Bombers scored goals at will. Against the Demons, a repeat would be fatal. The Hawks are still in the rebuilding phase and need everything to go right against Melbourne which is gradually b
