Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brown was smart and played a huge role as a key target. Weid gave us nil. Nil.  He really looks lost when he’s got a tough opponent. Doesn’t work hard enough. No gut runs.

Yep, can totally see your point, but I think they played very different roles tonight. Brown roamed high up the ground, was even used in defence in the second half a bit. Thought he played ok. Personally I just think the Jackson/Weid mix has a better chance of kicking goals than a Brown/Jackson mix. Haynes is a very good defender, none of our key forwards would have done much tonight against him and with the standard MFC delivery.

I just think as far as roles go, Brown and Jackson are the interchangeable ones.

Nev its a huge risk bringing an 18 year old into a do or die clash of the year off the back of a 5 week lay off. I just for the life of me see why we need to do that.

Yes we've seen the Weid/Jacko work better then most, but that's far too much of a risk for my liking.

Yep, can totally see your point. I'm banking on him being totally right to go if selected. I just think it's a more dangerous mix as far as kicking goals goes. Brown was ok tonight sure, but he did his work up the ground, I'd just like to see us have two genuine key forward roles so our entries can be better (fingers crossed).

We did better with not being boundary line obsessed tonight, but personally I'd like to push that a little harder and be even more direct.

So when are you playing him? Into a final off the back of a 7 week layoff? Or are you writing him off for the year?

I'm tentatively throwing Tomlinson in the out column. He just really seems to lack effort and toughness.

He's probably doing a bit that we can't see on TV, but he is genuinely the most frustrating player on our list.

I'm really hoping for Jacko to come back in to provide a bit of assistance to Weideman. The Weid is starting to look tired but don't think we can afford to rest him.

most important game for the year? you've got to be kidding? The game of the year was vs Sydney and then consequently Freo. These games are meaningless. We can't make finals unless some big upsets happen.

So I've always thought people switching AFL teams was an indicator of an especially weak character and have judged them accordingly. In your case though I would be fully supportive of you finding some other team to support and would give you a massive pat on the back. Might even pay for a membership for you if you find something you like. Go Hawks!

Unfortunately yes i think we have too? Without no seconds football, its just too much on an 18 year key tall.

Out: Jetta, Hunt

In: Hibberd (Lockhart if not fit), Harmes (to play solely as a mid-forward rotation)

Can't see us putting Jackson in off a 6-week injury and no match fitness while Brown has pulled his weight and deserves to stay there for now.

I love Jetta and how he has forged his career but sadly I think the game has gone past him now. He also feels incredibly injury prone at the moment, perhaps a testament to how hard and courageous he is. But I can't remember a game in recent memory where he hasn't been injured throughout a game and spent time in the hands of the trainers.

vandenBerg --> harmes - obvious like for like ugrade

jetta --> lockhart - injured

smith --> hibberd - matchups firstly + possessions (his general defensive form has been decent)

anb --> bennell - didnt do enough, never does and its do or die

The defensive structure was mostly ok, one terrible breakdown that led to a walk in goal but otherwise the positioning was good, but in terms of nailing intercept chances, winning the ground balls and using the ball it was horrendous. We gifted so many goals with dropped marks, awful defending once the ball hit the ground and turnovers.

None of Tomlinson, Jetta or Smith looked up to it and Lever was his typical hot and cold self.

I'd be happy to swap all 3 of those for Hibberd and 2 of Wagner (who didn't do a lot wrong), Lockhart and Hore. Doubt we'll see 3 changes but something has to shift there.

In terms of the mids and forwards I don't know how much to change. LJ for Brown has to be a chance but maybe we don't rush the big fella back for a one off game and let Brown face his old side.

I think Hunt and Vanders might be the most shaky. Baker is hardly a lock either. I'm assuming Melksham is off limits for whatever reason but most likely goes back to the forward line. Sparrow and Harmes the options.

Had a very good second half and we aren't dropping one of our best pressure players for a poor one.

Quick question, why are you here?

What do you get out of it? Is it to get one over genuine supporters who might have some modicum of hope?

Let's say you're right and we lose next week - is all that head shaking going to give you some form of satisfaction?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
