Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The most pleasing thing to me from tonight was the performance of the kids in Spargo, Baker, Pickett and Rivers.
I thought they all stepped up.

Heath Shaw only had 5 disposals for the night.. I honestly did not notice him at all tonight and its no wonder why. Usually kills us off half back.

he plays a much deeper role these days lockdown type on the mitch wallis' of the world

viney needs to learn to not go back into traffic and dispose of the ball sooner instead of trying to do it all himself. the only difference between him and the brad crouches of the world are the ability to give the ball off at the right time. we can blame this on the ability of his teammates as a youngster... had no choice but to do it all himself. i really dont want him to leave but if he doesnt tidy this up (which he absolutely can do) he could be expendable as a player definitely not as the most melbourne through and through person we have on our list.

CHANGES:

vdb --> harmes

jetta (inj) --> lockhart

smith (matchups) --> hibbo

anb --> bedford/hannan (probably safe coz we won tho)

We cannot simply throw an 18 year in one of the most crucial game of the year straight into the side on the back of a 5 week lay off.

Stick with Weideman,  he just needs to learn how to get himself out from this rut. Dropping him won't fix that. This is all part of his development into a good power forward.

Sorry but i reckon a witches hat would do better Dazzle.  And LJ aint no witches hat

When he's fully fit I get your drift.

Again, he hasn't played for a week. He'll make 0 impact due to no match fitness under his belt.

It would be a selection disaster if they picked him.

Don't get me wrong, i rate Jacko very highly, but he will not be match ready.

Yep, it was another nothing game from him but anybody who cleans up Toby Greene automatically gets a spot in next week’s team.

Whoever dreamed that up and whoever did the voiceover should hang their heads in shame.

Footballers should never do commercials, full stop. ( I didn't see it and I sure don't want to if it is as bad as it sounds.)

Two things.

1. May is my favourite player and it’s becoming daylight second. The bloke is a god send. Can’t remember the last KPD I feel totally at ease about when the ball is in his vicinity.

2. Rivers should have played a lot more than 8 of a possible 16 games this year. Not a big selection failure but a selection failure nonetheless

There are things to feel down about but the crop of kids coming through is definitely not one of them.

You don’t want to see it, but CP had his voice dubbed by some moronic-sounding “actor” armed with a script that seemed written by a drunk chimpanzee. Weirdly disrespectful, and hard to believe it got through the various channels.

He just needs to stay mobile to present the occasional option/keep opponent honest and draw him away from Brown on occasions, make a contest and try and defend when needed as best as possible.  Something Weid did pretty much diddly squat of tonight.

Even if he manages 75% game time Dazzle.  Brown and Gawn should be able to cover the balance of his remaining time between them.  He's also not bad at ground level and might help others to score etc.

Sometimes its better to play youngsters in short bursts.  His confidence will be up and being young he'll have no fear.

Weid's had his chances to stand up in three critical games in a row now.  Three strikes policy surely or we seriously have out hand on it as a club.

Same goes for Melk.  Shocking game tonight and added nothing to the team either offensively or defensively and for a senior player loses the one v ones far too often.

Just wanted to say I thought those Jumpers looked outstanding tonight. Good bit of nostalgia with that logo representing the Dee's of my childhood. Looking forward to my jumper arriving this week. We've put together some cracker jumpers recently including all the indigenous designs as well as the MFC insignia one. Think my new Covid lockdown hobby is to collect them all and frame them. Not sure my girlfriend will be happy when I put them up all over the house

We win a close one again. Well done Burgess.

Baker got us rolling, great goals.

Can't wait for Pickett to get those easy goals!

Rivers in every position.

Backline held up well again.

Langdons' run and connections, so consistent all year.

Weids needs to find some space and separation..

Unsure about Melksham, on baller run with opponent tonight, but wasn't convincing.

Also thought Fritta was off his game,  although never stopped presenting and trying.

Liked VDB 1 percenters and that he looks composed with the ball.

Umpires got GWS into the game and they had a fair run from them.

They seemed to be able to hit us in head or take our legs out.

Deliberates were judge inconsistently.

Why do we still let the other team score multiple goals as we score 1.

We have to stop their momentum surges. Be desperate, become ruthless and harden up.

Great last quarter.

Hoping for more connection  between Gawn and his mids.

Gawn's work rate and some crucial marks were important, as was Mays'.

We can hope to sneak into finals contention.

Go Dees.

Definitely get more joy watching Trac but geeze I’m happy May plays for us. Not just for his ability. A proper leader. I hope it’s for a long time to come.

Thanks for the warning. I will avoid at all costs. Can't believe Trac would do that sort of rubbish. But then, he is only a young boy. His heart beats true.

Really love our traditional jumper but was really impressed with last nights. Looked good on TV and made some of our youngsters look bigger.

While he didn't hit the scoreboard, I thought Mitch Brown was good for us tonight.  13 touches and 7 marks and he got up the ground to give us a target as well.  His experience was on full display throughout this game.

Makes the decision to drop him last week for Preuss look even worse than it already did.

Across his game sets so far, I am really quite pleased with Brown's lead-up nouse; he goes to space quite a distance and presents a good target for the positive carriage of the ball from the backs, the flanks and into the hot zones. Well done last night, Brownie!

Special mention to Joel Smith who shut down Elliot Himmelberg.  Kept him to 5 disposals and 0 goals.

Imagine the benefits of having Smith rotating into the forward line when we need goals. Yes, he did a good job on Himmelberg last night.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
