Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

West Coast apparently keen on luring Rivers back to WA in the coming years. We’ll need to lock him away!

Geez will West Coast just completely [censored] off in regards to everything please?!

All I ever read in relation to WA kids is “West Coast are keen to lure him back”. The powers that be at Freo must just sit there playing Twister every day at head office.

Yeah no doubt WC will be into him.

Give the boy a long contract please.

Will be the best player out of he, Kozi and Jackson.

BBP Really like Riv and he will be a top liner maybe a future skipper  but feel both Jacko and Kosi are something special also.

Jacko could be TheX factor   Player of a Gener ration and Kosi The best small in the AFL.

All 3 could well be better than the 3 at Port who debuted in 2019.

I was surprised too.

Jackson played 3 less games and only played well against the bottom 4 sides.

Rivers played a brilliant game against GWS in a mini elimination prime time Saturday night game, including kicking the sealer.

Raised my eyebrow a little but not a great deal between any of the three debutants who all have great AFL careers ahead of themselves.

Looking forward to next year with their progress and also Lockhardt as well.

Do you think offers would have been put in front of Rivers and Jackson at the same time as Pickett??

If so, their management may simply advise that their price can only increase and to hold off. Doesn’t mean their not keen on staying.

Rivers has captain written all over him.

Riv is playing great footy. Would love him to put on a bit more muscle and hopefully get some midfield time next year

Yep, a long summer running (sprints and distance intervals) combined with a relentless weightlifting agenda. I want to see muscles on his muscles, shoulders, biceps, triceps, pectorals, abdominals, gluteals, hamstrings, quads and calves. He has a mentor and role model to moderate his development closely: Petracca.

He is going to be a star this kid - he needs to develop that impenetrable body to take the knocks, give the knocks and a few straight-arm 'far coughs' on the run, and of course, to minimise the injuries from such contacts.

He does - in the longer-term. He gives me a few moves and challenges to think about, as well; some of the stuff he does is so very similar to some of the Gary Hardeman skills but these are irregular and not fully developed yet. Oh, for a development coach who is successful!

9. Trent Rivers will be in All-Australian contention

Zak Butters was the surprise All-Australian squad bolter in his second year — and Rivers could be in the mix for a similar feat in his second AFL season. When Rivers regained his place in Melbourne’s senior line-up late in 2020, he slotted in with aplomb, having between 14 and 16 disposals in each of his last six games. His composure across half-back will be well noticed, not only by Demons fans, but the All-Australian selection panel.

8. … But their top draft pick will finish second in the Rising Star count

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Will Phillips – the best pure midfielder in this year’s draft – will slot straight into North’s Round 1 centre bounce brigade. As a bottom-ager, Phillips was part of an Oakleigh Chargers midfield group that included Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson – and we all know the impact those two had at the Suns in their first years. Not only will Phillips play Round 1, he’ll play almost every game in 2021. But former NAB League teammate Rowell will pinch the Rising Star award from him.

Rivers would do very well to be in AA contention yet not finish in the top 2 in the Rising Star.

Young Trent Rivers plays like he has been around a number of years cool and composed taking on the game yet the kid has been in the system for one year and played only 9 games. Hard to believe.

What a great pick up.

I think Jackson may have something to say about this.

Yes that is so.

However think it like two future class  players that we have acquired from the draft. Jackson and Rivers. What else can l say ?

Sorry BD not disrespecting LJ & Kossie, two real guns in the making, it's just that Rivers was a late 2nd round pick and a bit of a surprise packet. We are indeed fortunate to have picked up three genuine footballers on 2019. JT and team take a bow.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure that we need to examine his gluteals in any great detail Ds56.

That Rivers for AA prediction in the Foxsports article is very left field. If the authors don’t have a soft spot for Melbourne then clearly young Trent gained more attention from the neutrals last year than I thought.

Indeed. Its something that you would read from one of the posters on here which you wouldn't even bother responding to. I was shocked that it was in a fox footy column.

Must agree - but hip stability is going to be an important part of 'total' development so for the anatomists amongst us, this muscle group was included.

Two things that stood out for me about Rivers and why I think he’ll make it:

1) his debut against Carlton in round 2. After fluffing his first disposal he made up for it in his next disposal and totally hit the ground running from there with his composure and crisp disposal from half back. One of the better MFC debuts in recent years.

2) That goal against GWS. With the season on the line the kid stepped up to the plate and snapped an extremely difficult goal in the dying minutes which suggests to me that he’ll be comfortable on the big stage.

An excellent debut season by Trent.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
