Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Massive win. What a great effort against all odds. Petracca vs St.Kilda -how sweet that is.

Interesting that Trac was pretty quiet in the doggies game. He excelled in the 3 games before it.

Last night he didnt totally dominate (15 Disposals v average of 25 in the previous 3 wins) but he was lethal with his disposal with 4 great goals.

He really is becoming elite and a big factor of our wins. One commentator expressed joy in his new ascendency. We have all been waiting for it. To be honest he hasnt been a great player in the past (above average) but I feel he will continue to be more and more like Dangerfield and be a major part of future success.

Apologies to the poster I corrected in calling for Trac to spend more time up forward (my suggestion was Oliver for this as he is a or was a more accurate kick). You were correct.

Full credit to Trac for fixing this part of his footy. That first goal was a beauty only to be surpassed by his last.

I also sense he cares about the club and not just the $.

Thanks Christian.

With May in the backline and Trac in the middle maybe Weid will rise to the occassion and become elite as well? The other two have taken some time before reaching new heights.

This is not a criticism of SW as he has been good. That 2nd goal of his was a glimpse of his huge talent. Just hoping that he will become a super full forward or chf. Most premiership sides have a 60 goal plus star forward.

I know we have Jackson but should we go shopping for a big forward star like we did with May for our backline?

We lost the game after quarter time but will take a FIFO win anytime,Jones's 2 turnover goals nearly cost us.

Big Ups to Maxy,May and Trac.

Should finish 6th now, above Pies and Saints.

Decided I would have a Scotch before the last quarter and went to bed.

Not much change from the Bullies game; other than they played more man on man football to stop the Saints run. This is why the Saints were held up so often in their attempt to move the ball quickly.

Smashed in the centre again. Nothing new in that space. I would simply say to Gawn don't bother jumping mate and be the additional ground ball player. The midfield group have very little ability to move/release the ball to another player with and prefer to try and barge through (Viney) when it is in their best interest to knock it forward.

River's, he is a good player. Loved the way he is able to play the ground ball. Rather than drag it in and lay on the ball. He hands it to the opposition then knocks it out of their hands and repeats until a ball up is called.

Once again the ball carrier is not protected with blocks, and is constantly in danger from own fire because everyone wants to get a touch. Why not tackle or run into our own players? Seems like a plan.

We play a much better game when Jackson is in the side. As far as I am concerned is a much better and smarter footballer now than the King brothers. The commentators were having some form of erotic verbal moment every time he went near the ball. Taylor got this selection 100% correct and the Rivers well, as I mentioned before, the boy has an IQ and can play!

A bigger concern for Jones than his turnovers is that he can’t  play out a full game. Again he failed to get a possession in the last quarter and spent the last 10 minutes on the bench. Been happening all season as well as most of last season. We can get away with it during the regular season but will kill us if we get into the finals.

vandenBerg, Hannan, Jones and Pickett laid 3 tackles between them.

I love vandenBerg's intent but if he's not tackling, I'm just not sure why he's playing.

I'd like to see the pressure act stat (does anyone know if it's available anywhere), as I'm sure the FD look at it, and it might be what keeps Pickett in the side.

Brown and Tomlinson were both ordinary until the last 10 minutes or so. Tomlinson was better down back when Hibberd went off. Brown hit the wings for a few crucial impacts late in the game, and yeah was better than his predecessor.

Rivers and Wagner at half backs were both very solid.

Again, Tomlinson was better than you're ever prepared to give him credit for.

Defended his part of the ground well, and then gave us options coming out of defence. Also thought he put his head over the ball more than in other weeks.

Brown I thought was just OK. Can't see how he was any worse than TMac so I'd be keeping him in.

Gee, it was good kicking straight. Weideman and Petracca nailing the goals that they did were clutch.

Fritsch will have a bit of trouble getting back into the team with his unreliable kicking, lofty 13 tackles and 11 1%ers for the year.

You're joking re: Fritsch, right?

Need to finish 6th or its a likely trip back to WA to play the Eagles.

The goal umpire was never 1 meter from wheee the call went through and called it a goal.

I think he would be in the best position to make the call.

All this talk is bs but gives something for the media to gasbag about and being Melb it will be even more of an issue.

Way to many turnovers and if were playing a port, Brisbane or Richmond type team they would have made us pay. I’m not taking anything away from st kilda as they’ve been a great team this season and it’s a huge win against a quality Opposition but I don’t think they have the ability to make teams pay for errors like the other teams listed above.

Steven may - wow. It’s like he’s bled red and blue his whole life the way he goes about it. He’s exactly like Viney in The sense he’s not done nor satisfied until the final siren. There’s no relaxing no matter how much we are winning by.
trac- is just Trac. What a season by him.

Fridge players in this game - i believe Wagner had a ‘okay’ game but I want us to be passed players like Wagner still being able to crack into our 22.
Jones - I love him but he just can’t be in our 22 anymore

omac- though I do love lever and mays game more with him in it I just can’t deal. He makes my heart panic everytime he is near the ball or has the ball.

. . . Kossie is a pressure king!

The stats ignore a lot of his crucial tap ons and spoils as well.

Hopefully he settles down and just hits the crumbing spot a little slower, that's all he needs to do to get his disposals way up

Agree in part with this but I’d like to see him be more assertive (in terms of taking responsibility in possession) and actually grab the ball as his default first option, instead of doing cute flicks, tap-ons and - even last night - tunnel-balls. This will come with experience, improved awareness and confidence in own ability. Timing his acceleration in and out of contests, as you say, will help too.

Oh, by the way, Goodwin looked very animated and passionate after the game ?

Unlike those that criticised his 'statuesque' demeanor in the box or at press conf, I think he cares!

You're joking re: Fritsch, right?

Thought the same with the Fritsch comment, our half forwards couldn't have contributed much less. Vandanberg can't even change direction now, so can't isn't able to apply any pressure despite his intentions.

Pickett needs a rest. No doubt he will be great one day, but it wasn't today and is unlikely to be any day soon.

A game here and there, for sure. But I’d like to see him on the track for the most part. You’re right, he will be great one day but I think getting games into him is the fastest way to make that happen.

He does get a bit too clever quite often, but he’s often just centimetres from pulling off some ridiculous [censored] (that mark he went up for and very nearly took down would have been a MOTY contender),  the kind of stuff that spooks the opposition and gives huge confidence to his side. I’d like him to hone his timing and balance playing AFL, not scratch matches.

Harmes and/or Harley a must in for AVB and/or Jones imho.  We need some extra run and finish on the outside and the odd goal from either when they push forward.

Our defence is rock solid.  It's this outside / forward craft area that needs urgent tweaking to take things to another level on the scoreboard.  Too much is being left to Tracc and that's not going to get us a winning score or out of jail card much of the time against the better clubs.

Steven May completely shut Max King out of the game. As we all know he played a blinder. Not only did he keep King to 3 possessions but  May was so filthy on himself for letting  King  kick a goal on him.

That is how determined he is at the moment. Well done Maysie you are having a great season so far and there is no stopping you.

Anyone else think the fact Goody had to coach from the boundary was a blessing in disguise. he really engaged with the players on interchnge and directed players on the field as well. Great work. Credit where due.

Absolutely. I love seeing him down there directing traffic.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
