Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

  • Seriously though stop petracca Oliver and Gawn and they have nothing.
  • Marshall record on Gawn is actually good.
  • Ryder won’t win hits outs against Gawn.
  • Gawn doesn’t pose the same threat as precious years. Ryder and Marshall should be able to nullify him or even work him over. He isn’t a physical ruckman.
  • Max Gawn back in is obviously huge for them but he has played the last few times we have beaten them too and we are stronger in the ruck this year.

Everything else

  • The brothers going at it in the midfield will be interesting. I assume Zak Jones has the upper hand on Nathan in games won given Sydney would have been a better team over the course of the last few years.
  • Jones gives them a definite psychological lift and a bit more grunt.
  • Tipping Max King to kick 7 and Steven May to punch himself in the head.
  • I love jake carlisle, he always can [censored] off the oppositions fans and is one of us, Bloke will win a norm smith for us if we reach a grand final.
  • Bit of a power play by us to name Kent at ruck rover against the dees.
  • Melbourne are full of heads that you look at and just think they need a punch in the nose.
  • Wow and just read Fritsch missed the start of training and that's why he's dropped. They're in all sorts.
  • Geez they have some very ordinary footballers in that 22. They really drop off after there top 6 or 7 players.
  • Dee's changes benefit us I reckon. Lost a lot of speed and defense. And have a very tall backline. Key will be to keep Lever occupied though as he runs lose when O.McDonald plays and also have Tomlinson play back atm.
  • Mitch Brown not really a bonafide key forward though is he? Think he plays like more of a tall flanker
  • Fritsch our for Melbourne I thought he was the only one that kicked any goals for them
  • They’ve been playing Harmes out of position all years, very weird. Nat Jones is s*** yet he gets midfield minutes instead of Harmes.
  • I reckon harmes is forward mid. Maybe petracca has been the issue.
  • Issue is that they have Brayshaw, Oliver, Jones, Viney, Petracca, Harmes all wanting midfield minutes but arent much good on the outside.
  • Petracca handy fwd but has been killing it in the middle.
  • Tom McDonald dropped is a blow to our chances, he's a liability for them up forward. Fritsch dropped helps us though as he's one of their better forwards.
  • Is harmes one of those Kents that we make look like Leigh Mathews?
  • Goodwin playing a hail mary, line in the sand card at selection by the looks.
  • For the record, James Harmes last 5 games vs St.Kilda = 113 touches and 10 goals. We are his bunnies. WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K???????

Oops, had some bad calls in my day but yeah, that's a mulligan

Really looking forward to the post comments, @Queanbeyan Demon. ;) ?

they're pretty good

  • Our most pathetic performance of the season. Steele only one who can hold his head high. If King isn't ready for AFL football do not play him. Useless again.
  • I swear to go the next person who says they'd still rather have picked Paddy over Petracca after he won the game off his own boot is braindead. Will rue that decision for another decade still.

    • Reply: No one says that. We get enough Petracca circle jerk on the TV, stop.

  • Wheels well and truely off the wagon. Goodbye finals.

  • That’s finals finished, no chance we can beat GWS or Eagles.

  • Did billings and Clark play? That’s life. It was an even money game so one wins an one loses. We couldn’t stop may. And it’s friggin August.

  • When ever there is any expectation on this group and we start gearing up to make a play for finals they absolutely sh*t them selves. This senior group of membrey ross billings and geary are taking this club no where. They are no different to newnes and bruce etc. We have to churn them. Its the generation below that which will improve this club. Hill i thought was excellent. Also Jones disposal is a massive concern.

  • Petracca single handedly beat us with his 4 goals.

Any of those the same muppets, the smug ones that thought they'd win easily prior to the match?

So glad we beat that mob. One of my best mates is St Kilda, so that will do me very nicely, thank you very much.

I lived and played footy in the bayside suburbs for around 10 years, our club had a lot of support from blokes who were part of/associated with the Saints cheers squad.
Some of the dumbest people I’ve ever come across. They would go on and on about the Saints night club and Wild Bill’s Saloon in Southland shopping centre and the Saints players all going out with them.
To be fair it was very funny stuff and they would turn up to our rubbish Div 3 games most weeks.

Southland shopping centre..... I had to go there for an appointment many, many years ago. I think Paul Keating had that place in mind with his [censored] end of the earth remark.

I'm sure it's okay now, I went there years ago. I meant it as tongue in cheek. And yes, I agree with you about Chadstone. That's a place for the busloads of tourists and people who want to start blues with you in the carpark.

Same here AF. Very close friend who has been os for months rang me prior to the game for a bet. The stake was a $50 bottle of Shiraz to be consumed jointly on his return to Australia.

Post game . . . what they are saying about us.

Trak

  • There was people during the week defending the decision to take paddy over petracca. Don't tell me it doesn't happen I've seen it more times than I can count.
  • Petracca believes in himself more than any player I've seen in a long time, and that belief that he is can be great and can be the difference between winning and losing makes up for rather significant deficiencies in his skillset.
  • Petracca’s final goal turned like Warnie’s ball to Mike Gatting.
  • May and Pettraca won them the game.
  • Petracca was just an average player up until this year, don't think many saw him exploding into the player he is this season.
    • Saints got it wrong and everyone knew he was going to be the better footballer but they drafted the player they thought would be our full forward for 15 years.
  • As a caterey member of the western bulldogs who is dating a saints supporter. I promised her I would ask her why the hell our CEO Ameet Baines decided on drafting McCartin > Petracca. Can’t believe it.
    • They weren't sure who to take because of our key forward situation and were then spooked by the Tom Boyd deal. Looks horrible in hindsight but still stand by it being the right call for St Kilda at the time.

Everything else

  • Melbourne played a very poor man's version of the geelong keepings off/block the corridor style.
  • I hate losing to Melbourne more than any team. And that loss last night was more than losing to that borderline rabble but confirmation that we haven't improved and continue to crumble as soon as the prospect of us taking that step forwards arrises.
  • If melbourne do a typically Melbourne and get ahead of themselves then thats great for us.
  • Dees while hard at it, were not quality tonight.
  • The majority of our goals were from Melbourne mistakes not our own ball movement.
  • I can't believe we lost to f*n melbourne. Disaster.
  • Considering how sh*t we played, it’s funny we were still the better team and lost.
  • Thank god we’re not Melbourne supporters and have to watch that sh*t every week.
  • May is 143 game 28 year old who should be in the prime of his career age wise so you would expect him to win that battle every day of the week.
  • Melbourne set themselves for this game. If they hadn't of got Gawn right physically we scrape home I think.
  • A very ordinary player in Mitch Brown slotting one from 50 on a tight angle.
  • Melbourne deserve some credit for clogging the game up and not allowing us to run and gun.
  • Now the boys have to get on the same flight as melb let that fu** that.
    • Good hope they sing their song all the way back. Hope Oliver kicks the backs of their seats the whole way and Max Gawn puts his seat back on their legs.
  • We've got a bloke named Carlisle. He's kicked a few goals in his time. He is bigger than May, perhaps he could have stood his ground and taken a bit of the focus off King?
  • Melbourne. Trash team dragging us down to their level.
  • We made May look like Rance.
  • Our list is still well below even Melbourne and is a patchwork of crap coving serious structural issues.
  • May with 22 disposals and 9 marks. Gave us an absolute bath.
  • King deserves a rest. It's his first year at AFL level, so he deserves some slack, but he needs a rest. He's been poor for a few weeks, poor decision making and poor marking. He'll get better, but we don't need to try and burn him out like when Melbourne ruined Jack Watts.
  • Gawn not called once for tackling the Saints ruckman all night, thought 2 arms around was a big indicator.
  • King will have nightmares about May. We needed to do something about that match up a lot earlier, pretty much lost us the game.
  • Well done to Melbourne, totally burnt us on the rebound and had our number.
  • Melbourne are sh*t Kents good luck to them.
  • Melbourne have no game plan and beat us.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
