Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Saints had a pretty tough game last week whereas we played bruise free football against Dogs. With a week rest there is simply no excuse to drop this one. However the fact are a quarter of our team has been turned over plus other than a depleted Pies outfit we have beaten no one above us. Lose this and another season wasted win it and redemption is possible. I think where a 40/60 proposition. A loss confirm we are a 10/14 team a win put us in the 5-8 bracket. Big game for club and Goody. This site will meltdown if we lose.

The Dogs showed how we struggle against genuine legspeed, and our team today is even slower than last week.

Our ins are genuinely eyebrow-raising.

Im confounded as to the thinking behind selection and I think we'll get pumped tbh.

The thing that concerns me with this selection is that we have very few injuries and yet it seems like we don't have any quality  depth. We don't have speed, and apart from our ruck stocks, it seems like we have a list clogged with players that can't quite make it in out best 22. Really hoping the boys have come to play but the doubts remain.

Can't see us getting close. Gobsmacked by the ins. They will absolutely run us off the park. Hoping for a wet game, no idea what the weather is like but that's our only hope to slow them down. Otherwise I can see another 5-6 goal loss. Saints will need a bit of pace and spread for 10-15 minutes to build a lead and that's game over.

As we all know ....... lose this and that's 2020 done and dusted................ yet another wasted year.

I am neither enthused nor encouraged by team selection but that's who is going to represent the Red and Blue today so like others, I will be barracking with my usual well lubricated gusto.

I will enjoy humble pie if we beat the Aints.

And a draw puts us as 9? ...

Dare I say our plan might be to negate their speed by playing keepings off ala Geelong style? Hopefully we aren't going to take them on head to head in speed and outside run. Rivers, Wagner & Mcdonald are all relatively reliable kicks (within their limitations) - as well as having Salem & May back there so perhaps we'll try and use short sharp ball movement.

Obviously the fear of this is going to be the inevitable turnovers which will kill us.

All comes down to workrate of our mids and small forwards.

I'm confident with our backline getting the job done but if there is no pressure up the ground with their I50s it will be more of last week.

If we lose the game in the same fashion where the doggies waltzed out of their D50 to goal without pressure,  Goody can start thinking about an early payout at years end.

I expect to be going ‘insane in the tim membrane ‘ tonight with OMac coughing up 4 majors after being caught 5 meters off his opponent on the lead , as usual Saints pressure and outside run will put our defence under enormous pressure tonight .

and conversely our forwards will add little pressure on the other end , I hope some of them watched the cats v dogs last night , I don’t think we’ve ever been capable of that sort of pressure (except in those two finals at the G in 2018)

Like many I’m perplexed by the selections this week, but like a car crash I can’t look away.

Hoping for a win, fully expecting to loose, if we do loose then I hope that some good comes out of it and we make the hard decisions that’s need making.

Bit of a cryptic message there coach?

There's just no way that I can see us winning this game.

We have liabilities in Jones, Wagner. An underdone Gawn. We have hit and miss players in Spargo, AvB, Hannan and Melksham.

That's almost a third of the side with serious question marks on them before we even start.

Then I look at going in with no genuine small defender, against a team that has a small forward 4th on the league goal kicking ladder.

So many factors that point to a heavy loss.

Dees by 11 points.

Will be interesting to see what big Maxy comming back into the side can bring.  I think he will need to put in one of his gut busting inspirational captain's efforts to help get us over the line, but I wouldn't put that past him.

I'm not as cut up about the selections as some are here.  If anything, I think the inclusions will add some much needed despiration and effort to the team.  Rivers should be better than Harmes, Wagner on a par with Sparrow, Max is a big upgrade on Pruess and Brown should give us as much as T Mac, but a bit more mobility.  Whilst I rate Fritsch, he was burning a lot of opportunities in our forward line and wouldn't surprise me to see Hannan have a day out in his absence as I think Fritsch was somewhat robbing Hannan of being a second lead up target which I think Hannan can also do fairly well.

Also feel like we need a big game from all our mids to win it at the source and go on with it from there.  Patracca has had a pretty quite month or so and I think it's about time he smashes a game open.

I certainly think we can get the job done, but I'm not particularly confident in it though.

In my 'glass half full' way, I'm clinging to the hope that our relatively good history at Traeger Park will get us over the line.  The glass is developing a small crack.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
