Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?

I think Jesse carried himself like a champ at Melbourne!

Kicked more goals than anyone in a long time.
2011    Liam Jurrah    40
2012    Mitch Clark    29
2013    Jeremy Howe    28
2014    Chris Dawes    20
2015    Jesse Hogan    44
2016    Jesse Hogan    41

2017    Jeff Garlett    42
2018    Tom McDonald    53
2019    Christian Petracca    22
2020    Bayley Fritsch    22

Just to be clear in 2017 his father died, he got nut cancer came back, busted his collarbone and then returned only 3 weeks later to kick 20 goals for the year, I know COVID was tough in QLD but Fritschy ain't looking much better, and I like the boy!

If anyone watched the home & away season in 2018 recently Jesse was a humongous part of it kicking 47 goals winning games off his own back, sometimes with his little mate Jeffy around his feet and don't @ about McDonald he's done... ?

He would only come back to give his all, its simple as that, in my opinion.

Listen to everytime Goodwin has spoken about Jesse post dees, its always very postive.

Do we pull off the Trent Croad special?

I doubt it, but it would be great to see him in a Dees jumper again.

Interesting comparison. Jesse has a lot in common with Croad....if you know what I mean.

More chance he moves to Byron with Wattsy and does nothing than play for Melbourne

The fact he is 25 and should be in his prime..... I'd give him a 3 year deal that has clauses keeping him on the right track on and off field, providing he is over his major injuries and ready mentally. It could be beneficial for him to be around familiar faces.

I don't know or believe he was the cuase of culture disruptions at the club, We all know he delt with alot off field that would have derail anyone.

Hogan is reportedly on an amount in excess of $900k per year with a contract going till the end of 2021.

He's Freo's T Mac

Hard to make those numbers work for any suitor unless Freo stumps up around half.

Would Hogan move on a one year deal or would he want 2 or 3?

According to an article in today's HUN the big year is next year when it goes up and there are performance levels he had to achieve. Reading between the lines Freo want the dollars for others in 2021. Interesting times ahead

Bring him back.   Mick Malthouses best coaching trait was to get the best out of individuals -  those that weren’t overly professional but could play footy -  the rat pack.

I’d rather have Jesse getting into strife three times a year and kicking 50 goals than have ANB be uber professional, win the time trial but be unable to hit a target 25m away.  It doesn’t have to bring down the standards of the whole group if we’ll managed and coached.

Give the coaches a challenge and bring him back!!

My view had always been the opposite. I believed Malthouse couldn't get the best out of individuals which is why so many players left under his watch. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle. That is, Malthouse was able to get the best out of those individuals, but only those who could tolerate him and vice versa.

I'd be very happy to take him on a reasonably cheap contract. We know he can fit within our forwardline, and in theory we should be more capable of addressing any issues with him compared to other clubs. Just depends if there's any bad blood between Hogan and the club.

Phew for a minute there I thought you were talking about Gary Ablett Senior!!!?

If we had Hogan, Weid, Jacko and Gawny in the same side, there would be very few teams who could contain us.

Hoges and Jacko can play as mids/forwards, Weid stays within 40m of goal and Gawny can rotate through the forward pocket.

Still don’t think it’s the way to go, but I could be talking myself into it.

I could talk myself into that scenario being the way to go, as well. We have plenty of rotatable smalls/mediums; we have few mobile and marking big guys - suits my psyche for several tandemed zone attack forwards rather than key position forwards.

Yes, we could sign him to a contract that makes him become somebody else, other than the person he actually is.

Isn't that true of most people who get hired?

Who doesn't love Jesse...but we are (trying to be) a football club not a fairytale club.  Damaged goods, buyer beware.

At the moment I dont believe we can AFFORD not to investigate getting ANYONE who can play. Other teams seem to be able to mange players with issues, and yeah I know the Harley thing ended in disaster, but I know Hogan can play. Simple as that.

Do we need another key forward YES. Can we go into season 2021 without another strong KPF ?? HELL NO

Happy to lay the welcome mat out for him at this stage!

There's a massive difference between being able to play and wanting to play. Unfortunately for Jesse he just doesnt look to be that interested in a footy career anymore. Imagine coming back to the club that offloaded you to then have the enormous pressure of being the key forward that's going to save us piled back on you from the club, supporters and Vic Media. That's the last thing a person like that needs. I feel bad for the bloke, but not even moving back to his support network of family and friends has helped him or his football. His body just isnt durable. His head doesnt seem in it. We would be incredibly stupid to either think he will be all that we need to turn our forward fortunes around or that he can even get on the park.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
