Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?

I always thought Jesse underestimated the stability and support that he got (and needed to get) from his Melbourne teammates, coach and the club.

if he wants to come back, I’d love the club to welcome him with open arms.

would have him back happily, but i have zero idea how much baggage he comes with

when my mum told me that he was being 'trialed' as a defender for freo's b team during this hub life i thought that's the most pointless thing i've ever heard of; he's the most 'natural' key forward since hawkins, knows where to run, when to lead, how to position his body...playing a player like him in defence makes zero sense

it's not as if he's a first year forward and yr teaching him leading patterns etc - he was so good at that from the the get go, and such a great contested mark

loved watching him for the dees

I have memories of Roos saying he could be an A grade defender.

But in saying that he was never exactly known for his defending ability. It’s hard to picture it.

As long as he have Oscar and Tom McDonald on the list, how could anyone say that they wouldn't have Hogan back?

I'd take him back immediately

Imagine him coming in with Weideman finally up and running.

The dynamic key forward duo we envisioned a few years ago can become reality!

If he wasn't named Jesse Hogan, and we were just talking about some bloke from Freo with off field issues, injury problems and who is struggling for a game so badly that he's possibly being switched ends; there's no way this thread is going the way it is so far.

Big no from me.

That’s all well and good but it ignores what he did prior to going to Freo. This isn’t just about the romanticism attached to it. We know he can play. He’s been at Freo for five minutes in the scheme of things.

Exactly. He’s a 25* year old natural forward who averages 2 goals a game and could/should be entering his prime.

And he’s our Jesse, a Melbourne son.

Been at Freo for 2 seasons in peak AFL age. Gone downhill the whole time.

Not doubting his talent, but he got what he apparently wanted and has gone backwards ever since.

Of course it's about the romanticism. Haven't seen anyone pining for any other forwards that can't get a game.

Players careers aren't always linear and consistent, ask Tom McDonald.

25. Averaged 0 goals this year.

Being a former Melbourne player is irrelevant.

I don’t see much “pining”. It’s about an openness to the idea.

It’s actually not just about the romanticism and it’s fairly arrogant to dismiss it as such.

Also, it’s just wrong to think that him being a Melbourne player is irrelevant. It’s relevant on several fronts. Especially with the player in question.

There’s little doubt there’s the element of romanticism in Melbourne fans having him back. The bare bone stats, issues, and health question marks would leave most to say no.

But in his first year with Freo he was injured the whole time, this year he started injured again and now I think he’s probably struggling with more mental demons.

Talent is there, the question is whether it’ll ever emerge again.

You're right, except we ARE talking about Jesse Hogan - the kid who won Casey's B&F at 18yo, who won the AFL Rising Star, who kicked 4 goals on Rance in a game in 2016, etc We got a fair trade for him, and i don't know where he'd fit in now, but I'd love him back in r&b if the proce was right.

Ok, maybe it's no irrelevant then given we decided to trade him off. That should tell you something.

Haven't seen any other threads dedicated to an opposition player who can't get a game.

Make up your mind mate, it's it "not just about the romanticism" or is it "relevant on several fronts" that he's a former Demon?

Absolutely has a ton of talent and did some good things with us. No argument there whatsoever.

Situations aren't static though.

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
