Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought Preuss did well but I don't think we can carry him in the side along with Gawn. The only option would be to use hm in TMac's role but I fear that makes us too slow, particularly against the Dogs who are a smaller and faster side.

So, it sucks for Preuss, but if Gawn is ready then that's a direct swap. If Gawn's not 100%, we stay with Preuss.

Jones, vandenBerg, Tomlinson, Harmes and Sparrow present some options for changes. We could, for example, bring Rivers into Harmes' spot and put Harmes up into Jones/vandenBerg/Sparrow's spot.

Not sure Bennell or Hannan get back into the forward line given the elevated level of connection we had forward of centre today.

Harmes struggles and needs a break. Definitely not a half back  I’d prefer Rivers.

Jonesy did everything he could and will definitely stay in. Tackled. Chased. Hit targets.

Kozzzy looked dangerous but did a lot of fumbles and overran the footy on countless occasions.  I’d be tempted to rest him and bring in Bedford.

Obviously if Gawn is fit, he replaces Preuss.

Tommy mcd was average.  Slow plodder.  But stays in as a relief ruck.

Tomlinson was okay. Serviceable.

Lever did some real clangers with the footy (handball to Grundy and a pies goal was a  shocker ) but defensively was pretty good.

outs. Pickett.  Harmes.  Preuss.
In.  Bedford Rivers Gawn

Lockhart. May. Lever.
Salem. Tomlinson.  Hibberd
Langdon. Viney.  Brayshaw.
Melksham. Tmcd. Vandenburg
Bedford. Weideman. Fritsch.
Gawn. Petracca ️Oliver
Int. Sparrow Spargo Jones Rivers

Tmac was good today played his role well, Might be an idea to rest Gawny for 1 more week to be cherry ripe for Saints.

No change for mine unless there are niggles.

Gawn for tmac.

Preuss to play forward and relief ruck. Tmac has been better since his return, but has not taken a contested mark.

I thought Tom did enough to keep his spot, if anything seems to be closer to what he was. But you’re right on his marking, almost seems to be swatting at the ball rather than having strong arms ready for contact.

If there’s still doubt on Gawn then persist with Preuss, I still think our midfield need to improve at hunting the ball when our taps aren’t working to advantage.

For me I thought Fritch was one of our poorest players when the contest was on, he seems to be becoming a bit of a junk time specialist. I wouldn’t say no to dropping him for Hannan.

We could well be looking at no changes if Gawn still needs time.

Interesting call, and a fair bit to like about it. Preuss was better around the ground than I'd expected tonight, and might pip TMac for mobility atm.

I'm prepared to put Maxy back in the team but not as captain. Our rotating captains the last two weeks have got a perfect record. Frankly I want Max to have another week off. We need him fresh for the finals !!!!

Harmes is on thin ice. He probably did a lot of defensive stuff tonight that we didn't appreciate though. Some of his muck ups were tough to watch.

I think it should be no change given that we’re coming off a seven day break this time. This would allow for an extra week’s break for Max just to play it safe.

Trent Rivers was a bit stiff to miss out this week - if he went ok in the scratch match at Maroochydore then they could squeeze him in.

Preuss is stiff to miss out but it is Gawn we are talking about.

If Gawn is fit, how about we keep Preuss and drop McDonald? Could Preuss do worse up forward than ol concrete boots?
I just feel that dropping Preuss who had a good game after one solitary opportunity is just wrong.

Gawn for Preuss if he's 100%. Anything less stick with Preuss.

Harmes made plenty of mistakes but in general I thought he was better and could be close to settling at half back. Do you disrupt that now or do you keep backing it in to work?

There's 2 places we can use Harmes and then fill his half back spot with Rivers or even try Chandler:
1. I'm still less than convinced by Jones even if he played well, he just doesn't have the speed or change of direction to effectively pressure. Crisp left him for dead several times.
2. Sparrow's doing a job but found it tougher against a good midfield. Harmes could play forward/tagger and be set for Bailey Smith or JJ.

Food for thought but my expectation is they leave things the same.

Otherwise I'll continue my weekly concern about Tomlinson as a key defender. Just 1 intercept possession today. He's not winning the ball and he doesn't use it well enough to be a clear cut advantage there.

Make a tough match-up for the Dogs. Rest the big men forward and Fritta goes to the wing. Won't happen.

Bont and Daniel are the keys to the Dogs. Hold one or both and you're halfway to a win.

Naughton is threatening to regain some form too. That kid is good.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
