Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Broomhead revisited, Dunn not done: Collingwood's forgotten return

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/broomhead-revisited-collingwood-forward-in-frame-to-return-after-two-years-20200810-p55kax.html

Not sure he will make the cut (pardon the pun) to play his old side, but great to see Lyndon take the feild again after his career looked done and dusted.

He's sure does blend in well down at Collingwood these days, with a look like this!!

Good luck to him.  Alway liked Dunn, a real heart and soul type of player.

Take a couple of his front teeth out and Dunny would fit seamlessly into the Magpie cheer squad with a look like that.

I had a fair bit of trouble warming to Dunn as a player. The faux tough guy antics he put on in the front half of his career drove me nuts. He showed loyalty through a tough era at the MFC though, when plenty of his mates walked, and overall has gone on to have a solid career. Best of luck to him.

A dour player that stuck fat through some horrid years at the Demons.  While he never shot any lights out he was at least semi reliable and rarely got pantsed either from memory.

To think how much we all love a torp but kicking one out of the square probably sealed his fate under Roos et al.

Hope he does well and that's saying something given my adoration of all things black & white.

Dunn was “traded” at the end of 2016 after being ignored for the year.  Dunn and pick 51 to Pies for pick 47!  Delisted effectively.  He stuck with the Dees through the very lean years.  11 years. 165 games. Former vice captain.
Dees said they preferred young Frost and Oscar McDonald.  Perhaps in hindsight, we’d have kept Dunn.

He has had knee injury issues at Pies but otherwise played some pretty good footy. This year will be his last so good to see him finish on his terms.

Yes, seemed an odd trade at the time. My recollection is he was drafted  in close draft order to another forward, name just escapes me. Anyway the other bloke had the talent to be still playing but I thought was lazy.

Closing in on 200 AFL games. I hope he gets there.

I'm torn about whether I want Collingwood to play finals. If they don't, Dunn will finish his career on 196 games plus whatever else he plays this year with no finals. Dunn is currently equal 7th on the list of "most games, no finals" and could end up as high as 5th.

On balance, as we keep hearing the team is more important than the individual, I hope Collingwood doesn't play finals.

Like you, I never really liked Dunn when he was here.

Faux aggression, inconsistency, and a tendency to only play well in contract years.

He's taken swipes at the club since then: might indicate his true feelings towards us, but I don't rate that sort of behaviour all the same.

In response to those who suggest we made a mistake by trading him: you're wrong IMO. He was not fulfilling any sort of potential here. Plenty of players need a change of scenery to get the most out of themselves and Dunn was one of them.

Always think of his torps fondly

There was a ripper on the Anzac Day eve game vs Richmond in the rain (2015?), City End. Just about hit the centre circle. I wondered before that kick why he was intently checking the ball pressure. Worth getting wet to watch.

I saw Dunny at the footy in the Dees premium members sitting with the non playing Dees for close to 2 years whilst he was a Collingwood player.

I doubt he would have done that if there were any grudges.

I always felt he was a fairly limited player but has gone on to have a more than serviceable career

I wish him well.

His celebration after the Pies rolled us to keep us out of the finals race has always annoyed me.

While it's good to see him persist and make his way back to the senior side for the Pies, I'm not a fan of his at all anymore.  He lost it that day at the MCG.

Agreed, he needed a transfer to another club to re-start a career heading rapidly towards its sunset. He did well to attract the Filth, and to put in some good (and some ordinary) performances after the move. He was good at the MFC, quite reliable and a decent kick, and surely capable of giving and taking in the hard-liner department. Amusingly, he staged a fair bit looking for free kicks whilst at the same time, not realising that he was absolutely useless as a stager, seldom getting the umpires' nods. Another mirthful characteristic was his oft-attempted backhand slap to the groin of an opponent - these he usually got away with - the memory still smarts. ?

I did like the guy and he showed tremendous loyalty. It's a totally forgotten fact that it was Roos that turned Dunn and Howe into the great defenders that they are now.

Would normally not want anything good for Collingwood but gee I wouldn't mind seeing him get the 200.

Thanks, yes Bate had the talent to be a 200 gamer as well. I saw him play the laziest practice game at Casey I have ever seen. It was the same game where I was chatting to one of our trainer/water bottle guys. he worked for Richmond and said he had been asked to help out.

Yes very talented but lazy. Like Gysberts. Very disappointing. 2004 draft was poor.  Top 4-5 blokes were very good but then it is a bust for many.  Only about 7-8 guys ended up playing 150+ games. Dunn was probably one of the better selections.

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
