Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mick can have some outdated views, but a lot of the things he raises are the same as members on here have been asking over the last 18 months.

Correct, but not just last 18 months. We should be talking 56 years!

I like this kind of premature put down article, as it’s setting up the Cinderella story narrative for the rest of the year.
With our draw and remaining games we should make a charge up the ladder, and the media will get on board if we can.

On Mick’s thoughts on MFC he’s gone for click bait, stereotypes and shallow analysis instead of actually doing his homework in team and season, and so is culpable of the same lazy, weak play he’s projecting into to us. Which is ironic, I guess (if it was that interesting).

Makes me realise that if the current collection of half-wit ex-footy playing commentators worked half as hard on their media role and analysis as they did their footy careers, we might find their output more interesting, even insightful...

The only comment that was a real crack was the melbourne storm sweat on the gym floor, not ours.  That is a whack as you control how hard you work.

The rest is on repeat on every article about Melbourne for the past 20 years.  We are all frustrated that we can't address the ongoing issues at our club.

That's an old story as well 'drdrake'...it's a Brereton story from around Neeld's time I think or maybe early Roos.

You only needed to watch the preseason doco to understand how hard the boys are working.

All in all, it's an early call as the season isn't over or wasted yet...

I'm all for good, well researched criticism.

...but this isn't it.

I think we have addressed this though, Paul Roos went hard on our conditioning and you can see that in a number of players now.

The other points we havent addressed

I don’t understand the “what do they stand for comment” as well. Assume he is talking about on field, and tbh we probably have the most identifiable “brand” of footy in the comp (unfortunately, it’s just not a very good one)

Probably a poorly written article but the point of yet another wasted season is true.

So far we are probably the only playing group to do a 'lay down Sally' on the short break which proves that we would have no chance of achieving anything when the going gets tough at the pointy end.

We are a “meh” Club, to those outside, whether we survive or not, people don’t care.
That is basically what Malthouse is saying, there is only one way to change that perception

Mick is missing the spotlight again , it smacks in the face off  , crap I need to write something .

very poorly written , most of which is old news and all of us in hindsight .....

Fyfe at pick 20 ....   lets see how many clubs didn't have Scully at pick 1 that year.

maybe he should have done a article on his time at carlton , every team has a could've and would've drafted this and that player 10 years later.

What I've learned is that Malthouse maintains an archive of 'points to say' about other clubs, presumably coaches, players, and anyone he might ever bother to use for content for boosting his online presence.

He is, basically, a well-organised blogger.

Yes I agree.  We will never shut up anyone until we do the obvious.  We've dug the hole for ourselves and there is only one way out of it.

Yep. We have had major assistance over the years on many levels and still keep stuffing it up.

This along with Matthew Lloyd recently gives me the pip. The first three qtrs (admitedly we were poor at times ) against Crows Dermott the insufferable and his crew were just piling into Melbourne.

We have the makings of a good team. Goody is poor but trying and good teams work it out for themselves and eventually make the coach look good. Our worst issue is destabilisation from outside forces who have their own agendas

Have a crack at Hawthorn, who look [censored]. Dogs going nowhere, Collingwoods injuries and culture. But no, these weak b#stards want to take the easy route and pick on Melbourne. They can all f#ck  the f#ck off

He writes this after we have a 9 goal win?

Article has probably been sitting at the bottom of his sock drawer all season waiting for the week he had writers block.

Lever and May the same kind of player?? I lol'ed. The only similarity is that they are both defenders.

I am super critical of our lack of success, but this season is a long way from over.

Here's hoping he ends up with a face-full of egg.

We deserve almost every spray that heads our way. Not sure about the "What do you stand for" garbage though.

What does Collingwood stand for?

"What do you stand for", or "club X doesn't stand for anything" is secret AFL code for "club X doesn't win enough matches".

Every time a club is down and out, the media are on this meaningless tirade about what the losing club "stands for". When club X turns it around, the question mysteriously vanishes. Because it so happens that no-one in the world gives a rat's tossbag what any club "stands for". They just like kicking clubs that are down.

It's impossible to say what Collingwood stand for, or Hawthorn, or West Coast ... the question has no meaning. Their existence is all about winning flags. Same for the humble MFC.

Hear, hear. They've found themselves on easy street, paid to rabbit on about their favourite subject without any fear of contradiction and are almost universally lazy and indulgent.

(Exhibit 1: May & Lever similar players???)

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
