Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Does anyone recall the names of the 3 umpires that destroyed us last week?

I do. They are the exact same 3 umpires we have today. I don't think I've ever seen that before. So essentially AFL house was pleased with their efforts last week, so it's only going to be far, far worse this week.

We don't stand a chance in this game, and it's got nothing to do with our skills or effort, or even gameplan.

Wow. What a [censored] disgrace those maggots were.

Jones can play as a half forward but he is nearing the end.  Replacements aren't all that flash either so I'd still play him.  But he needs to lift.

T-Mac probably had to come in once Gawn was ruled out but Tom is horribly out of form.  It's not over for him though but again,  he needs to find his best form.

The ruck duties look like being shared instead of the Pruess option.  That's fair enough.

I'rm reasonably happy with the selected team (all things considered) but we've got 5 blokes who are ideally suited for the clearances and centre bounce downs.  That's 1 too many for my eyes thus my push for Viney to the forward line.

Way down the track Oliver could be a star at half back ... but he's a ball magnet on the ball right now.  Brayshaw feeds off him but for whatever reason,  we've gone away from that.

Excellent point Wyl ... you have to wonder why we'd ever set players for roles away from what they're best suited for.  I can understand such moves if they were entirely necessary but those types of moves are often unnecessary.

To be fair,  a few moves have benefitted the team such as T-Mac to the forward line but lets face it,  his role as a defender was questionable anyway.

Petracca on a forward flank?  Harmes on a back flank?  Brayshaw on a wing?  Would have better to rotate the 4 onballers whilst using Viney up forward.  So off to the bench for 1 of the aforementioned 4 and/or occasional stints for 1 of the 4 as a high half forward.

And you don't want your best players on the bench for extended periods of time such as what we've done with Brayshaw and (sometimes) Harmes.

For the record,  for team balance,  I would have played Viney as a forward pocket from 2018 onwards.  As valuable as he's often been when playing on the ball that decision ends up effecting team balance.

Do you actually believe those placings. They are only to put in the paper !!!

The Dees will need to be on their toes for this match, all match. The umpires will keep North in the game for at least three quarters, rest assured - so we have to lead the match, all match, by at least three goals. A few errant body slams in honour of a missing Max and a turbocharged Viney will be required to unsettle and confuse the North runners. Harmes, Tomlinson, Salem and Tracca are in for a testing and very big responsibility across the game, full of two-way involvement and initiative. We can take this game with creative initiative and hard work.

Same umps as last week God help us.

I'm commenting on what my eyes see and what has often happened.  Historically and what is likely to happen with regards to where our players play.

I haven't actually looked at the line up of the team that closely.  The ins & outs are noted though and how we've used our principle on-ballers up until now is plain to see.

What is unknown is how we will share the ruck duties ... they'd have a plan but what was that Mike Tyson quote?

The umpires I believe are in lockdown also so they probably just leave the same guys in the same state, save having to move them around.

I'd call it 'containing the catastrophe that they now represent' after the Crows v MFC game.

Steven May must be the skipper tonight... hes a gun in ripping form and our most physical player (alongside AVB) and flies the flag for his team mates.

I saw some calls earlier for  it to be Jones.     No, his time has passed and frankly hes looked disinterested  since coming back in.

After Tommy's last effort i'm wondering about his Bin...

3 effective disposals @ 43% (30% off AFL average), 2 Contested marks (1 inside 50), two 1%ers, 1 tackle in four quarters, 2 score involvements, 2 turnovers, 0 intercepts and 0 goals at 91% game time.

Will need to be a miraculous turnaround.

I reckon this is an ideal opportunity for Tom.  He won't win many taps but can win touches around the ground.  He has great stamina & can run off Goldie.

I thought he was improving when he got the poke in the eye and lets face it he was no worse than lots of others against Port.

Early on this year he was scratchy but he was having to play as the lone key fwd without Jackson or Weid so I am cutting him some slack but he really needs to perform today.

What a far-K-ennn joke. They should be sent to the bush.  They were completely biased and inconsistent.  They also saw Gawn being hit 60 metres off the ball and did nothing.

My hope is that the umps have copped a heap in the press about how they didnt look after max.  MAybe it tickles a little unconscious bias and we get the rub of the green tonight ??

Except that their incompetence, especially around Gawn, has been spoken about all over the footy internet. Hopefully they will atone for their sh1tful performance.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
