Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My source tells me that Gawn, Viney and ANB are the outs. Three players will replace them, make of it what you will.

If AVB Has a fractured eye socket he wont play also!

IMO it will be...

OUT: ANB, vB (inj or dropped), Lockhart (soreness), Gawn, Viney

IN: Kozzy, Hannan, Jetta, TMac, Spargo

Preuss and Rivers chances tho. Not a fan, but think Spargo may come in for a forward/mid role, has been named in the squad a few times recently.

They took 29 players to Adelaide. Would Preuss even have been one of them ?

Goodwin named Preuss as an option to come in today, so he's either there already or can arrive before the game.

As i have been banging on about a season of inexplicable decisions by Goody.

To the list this week we can add playing max against the Crows (who surprise, surprise target him) and when we do not bringing Preuss to SA as option if required.

Surely Omac comes back in. Tomlinson and Jackosn split ruck duties 970% - 30%), and possibly forward duties

Certainly another option, but I'm not sure they'll want to swing Tomlinson forward after one week resetting him in the backline.

Yep. Teams win clearances off Gawn’s dominance regularly. I’m not fussed about that. I’m just worried about our love of clearing the defensive 50 thru Gawn. Without him we have no marking target down the line. So that’s a big worry for me.
Maybe play Jackson on the wing and then let him ruck.

Gawn's loss isn't the hit outs, although when the opponent is Goldstein the loss in the ruck contest may hurt.

It's everything else he does that somehow seems to get underrated by some on Demonland.

He is an elite runner and covers the ground as well as anyone on our list. He's an elite mark, he positions himself perfectly, and he takes hits when necessary in marking contests.

We don't have a replacement who can do 50% of what Gawn offers us, let alone 100%. But my vote is for Preuss so that we maintain our structure and balance as much as we can. Rather than moving Jackson or Tomlinson around or playing TMac when he's not in form or fit.

Gee you drop them off quick. Tmac is far from finished IMO.

At least some people wait to drop off players until they've shown they're in terrible form.

You, on the other hand, wrote Spargo off because of the number of centimetres listed next to his name.

Gawn can be replaced by Preuss Viney not that easily. I'd give Jordon his debut which will allow them to persist with Harmes down back.

Harmes is terrific, sure. Harmes is a good tagger. Harmes surprises with his height - capable of good spoils and contested marks. Harmes ain't no backman.

Harmes needs to go back to midfield and forward duties, creating opportunities and forward line 'gets'.

I'd really like to see either Hunt or Hannan back in the side for ANB and/or AVB.  I think they both have a bit to offer.  It's true that they can both be a bit hot and cold, but I think both of them were somewhat victims of playing a bad game on weeks we had loss.

The extra pace and footy smarts these guys would bring into our forward half would be very valuable.  They should both also have super fresh legs compared to a lot of blokes playing off 4 days which should also help.

I think there is a place for both Hunt and Langdon in our side.  Langdon's disposal in the forward half is pretty ordanary, where as I think that's where Hunt's disposal is best.

Asides from those two, the other I'd be considering bringing back into the forward line is Kosi.

And he is still not an AFL player as I said at the time  when you are his size you have to have very good skills. He does not and will never make it.

My point is that you, of all people, shouldn't be arguing that another poster has prematurely written a player off (which is what you did re: TMac).

Assuming Gawn Viney and ANB are the only outs I would go with Preuss. Rivers and Pickett. I suspect one of AVB or Bennell may also miss (guess not based on info) so would suspect Spargo (who is there) and Hannan the next ones up if the case. I hope they dont get too carried away and go LJ first ruck. Preuss can play less time and bash n crash and soften Goldy to make it easier for LJ who will get more exposure in there than he normally would with Max.

Tmac has proved he can play the game at a high level. The Weid never had until his games in 2020 , excuse me 2 games in 2018.

You didn't notice I was calling for his inclusion in round two and the following two?

TMac has proved he can compete in the Ruck, you don't  have to be Max's level just provide a good contest and let the midfield players do the rest.

And he was an adequate solution in 2017 and 2018 when Max was out. He also should have the engine to cover the ground and just compete.

Spargo is not an accumulator at this stage, but pretty much all his touches result in scores.

I think he'll make it if the club backs him and gives him a specific role as it did in 2018.

But, each to their own.

His size has nothing to do with it though.

They should give Tom McDonald a run on the wing. He’d be better than both Langdon and Tomlinson.
He might run into form maybe even kick a goal.

This is one of the single worst takes I've ever seen on Demonland, and that's saying something.

It is very difficult to even speculate on selection because not only are we unsure who is actually injured but we have no Casey form nor even training reports to go on to consider replacements.

However, if those are indeed the outs big red, then I reckon your suggested replacements are reasonable. Of course Pruess has no match fitness but I would prefer him to the totally out of form Tmac or putting extra pressure on Weed or Jackson.

I hope that is all the changes. As you say there maybe doubt over Vanders but I hope not. I wouldn't be resting Bennell unless there were good medical reasons - he needs to play himself into form.

Yep round 1.. 3 of his touches.... resulted in goals to West Coast! Certainly resulted in scores

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
