Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Best game of Clarry’s career.

Welcome back Gus.

Jackson is going to be amazing.

Get the [censored] out of the team Langdon.

Edit: Forgot to mention May. We may not ‘win’ that trade as such but we are getting great value out of it this season. May is a gun and plays with passion. Love him!

And he's a real leader. The times he took Lockhart under his wing last night and looked out for him which was something special. We got exactly what we needed. A backline leader and gun full back.

Well it was not pretty but great to see a strong finish.

There were calls to drop young Jackson last week which were thankfully ignored.

This fella seems to have the goods. I loved his block to allow Sw to mark and goal in the last.

Sw is starting to become more consistent.

May worth his money.

Viney played a ripper as did Oliver.

Even Gus finally got going in the 2nd half and reminded us what he can do.

A special shout out to the umpires:

Bu@#$r off please. You were atrociuos.

That was a fantastic game of suburban footy. Could almost hear car horns after every goal.

The yippee guy was back for Melbourne in the last quarter. It was a nice counter to the booing of the rabid crows fans. Love his work.

I wish I knew who he was.  I'd send him a bottle of red for his efforts.

Who would have guessed that playing a midfielder (angus) in the midfield would actually allow him to play well!

People need to cool their jets on angus at least for the moment, he showed glimpses of his 2018 self tonight.

Clarry sensational and Lukey Jackson looks like the beginning of a star.

I'll be wearing the dees jumper on the zoom meeting tomorrow!

Go dees!

I understand this point but I think it's a little unfair to suggest he can play all his footy in the middle.

Who's minutes are you shaving to get him in there? Clarry, Trac or Viney?

It's a good point, but Tracc can play very well in the forward line and viney can go onto the wing.

Angus plays his best footy in the midfield and that last half (particularly the last quarter) shows that.

He's an asset to the team when he's in the middle and possibly shaving some minutes off others can actually be more beneficial if you've got two players contributing in seperate positions.

also, sparrow had a bit of time in the middle, didn't see anyone winging about him taking off others minutes while he was in there.

I usually don't mind King but he annoyed me with the post game comments:

1. He said Goodwin shouldn't have mentioned the lack of umpire protection for Max.  What BS!  Hardwick carries on about it (was it Cotchin?).  Ratten recently talked about protecting the ball carrier (can't recall who) and Carlton are all fussed about lack of protection for Cripps.  All are valid but King says nothing about those but tries to put the heat on us.  Rubbish comments.

On this it was good to hear Goodwin say the club had talked to the powers to be (I assume he means umpires) about lack of protection for Max.  Handled the right way, behind closed doors.  Because nothing is happening he took it to the press conf.  Very happy about that.

2. That the AFL need to make a statement about sling tackles and give ANB 3 or 4 weeks.  Yeah right.  Its always Melbourne when the AFL need to 'make a statement'.

I personally saw those comments as strategic and aimed at members/supporters.

A lot of what Goodwin has been saying and what young Ben Gibson has been producing, seems to be trying to change perceptions of Goodwin as a coach to try and buy him some breathing space.

In this case, his comments about the umpires create a bit of an us v them mentality.

Tomlinson back was fantastic. Clearly he hadn't played there much but hes a big body and can kick. His run was great as well. I'd love to see Goody persevere with him there. So much better than Oscar. And could play on tall or smalls

Notice we kicked in to him on the fat side  a couple of times where he was mismatched on a smaller opponent....

Yeah, Sparrow is an interesting one. He looks to me like a Viney clone and I'm not sure that's what we're after. That said, I've liked his game.

If you were to list our mids in order of rotation, I don't think I'd change much:

Clarry

Viney

Trac

Sparrow (no real potential to play elsewhere)

Brayshaw

You could leave Sparrow out of the side to provide more inside minutes for Gus and that probably makes sense to me.

My point is that it's not a no-brainer. You have to sacrifice something to get Gus in there. I think Trac is somewhat wasted forward of centre given his ability to extract the ball from stoppages and Viney/Clarry don't have other strings to their bows to facilitate the necessary minutes.

I think a rotation of Trac and Gus in the midfield with resting HFF would be fine, Trac can be dangerous in the Fwd line but cant play midfield full time imo. juggling 5 of them shouldnt be too hard.

Funny though the game turned when Gus was a genuine mid

Gees Jackson is exciting. Some of the things he did tonight - diving for a half volley and then fishing a handball out, jumping at marks, and then when he carried the ball forward and spotted up a lead in the fwd line. Seriously when's the last time you saw a ruckman do that in his 5th game of AFL! Amazing.

Been waiting a while to see Clarry burst 5 or 6 steps before offloading. Hopefully the start of things to come.

he was much better in the 2nd half when the Umps paid him a couple of frees for being held. Crouch didn't hold him after that funnily enough and he ran rampant

Oh my god how much did it look like it transformed his game instead of his dinky [censored] handpasses?

I hope he takes that in his stride and continues to do that, he has genuine pace his first 10m.

Unrelated to the win but very happy with how the Demonland server has held up post match the past 3 weeks. Changes made have been ?. Not missing a beat. Barely a lag under a heavy post match load.

Don't let the AFL umpires get anywhere near the server. We'll be screwed.

Going to enjoy the little things from the win. How refreshing to see us kick a goal from a forward stoppage. Max to Viney in the last quarter for a goal was sublime all round, something that happens all too often against us.

Possibly May’s best game for the club. He was angry after last week’s game and carried it on. At times it looked like he really wanted to put opponents on their backsides. Great to see.

Oliver might get us 3 first rounders after last night.:P

Encouraging signs by Gus in the second half, just not the disposals he amassed, but hitting in really hard at times.

Viney probably sitting in the top 3 for B&F at the moment.

Pleasing to see JackoWeed on the end of a few.

Interesting to hear the commentators go on and on about AVB’s push and how it needs to be stamped out of the game, but when the little guy from Adelaide charges and bumps May well after the ball goes out of bounds they celebrate it. Kinda sums up the commentary all night really. I think they wanted blood and were very disappointed Melbourne won.

Don't even get me started on this.

You had Derm become one of the biggest hypocrites in football about how this behaviour needs to be taken out of the game, while he was quite happy to belt blokes and stomp on their heads.  No one pulled him up on it, either.

The commentary box wanted the Crows to win pretty badly and I was pretty content to see our club stick it right up their clacker with the win!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
