Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most meh 8 goal win I’ve ever felt. Shame it feels like that but that’s how it is.

Positives obviously Oliver and Viney. They didn’t have much to beat but they smashed them, not just beat them. This leads to Brayshaw, when Viney and Oliver are laying that sort of foundation he needs to have that 2nd half impact every time, not once a month.

I really like Jackson. Wondered about drafting him. I wonder no more.

That [censored] commentary team really didn’t help me enjoy the game either. Couch coach extraordinaire David King, we don’t give a [censored] what you would do, we care about what’s happening. Shut the [censored] up and go and coach your own team with your flawless strategy.
Dermott paid by the word Brereton needs to shut the [censored] up too. Lever gets out marked once by Fogerty and it’s because they “would’ve played on each other so many times in training.” Really Derm? Might want to check if they ever trained together at all.
And Eddie, thanks for the Collingwood history lesson.

So happy to hear Simon Goodwin stick up for Max. Has fired shots at the umpires for not looking after him behind play.

It is very obvious that he gets belted behind play and in marking contests and never gets rewarded with free kicks.

I tip my hat to Mr Goodwin for taking a stance on behalf of our skipper

Just now, Lord Nev said:

Yikes. Didn't even think about that.

Exactly. Should have rested him tonight. Not sure if that would have changed tonight’s result but he’s got two massive games coming up and one off less than 4 days break.

Steven May is a beast.

Clarry take a bow.

Weid presented well.

Action has just won himself a Nab Rising start Award.

Game was just about 4 points tonight play some players back into form, on to Sunday now where it will be our acid test.

100%. Goody should have learned about this kind of thing back in the Viney days. Can totally understand Max wanting to play after the week we've had but we've got to be a bit smarter and colder with the decisions in that way. Goody in his presser pretty much said it was a captain's call by Max (didn't use those words).

That result was a pass mark and we did what we needed to get it. We are still not playing the majority of the game how we want to play it and I hope we can get this with more games. The best moments of this game were when we showed confidence to break a line or even when Harley took it off Fritsch and binned it.

This was a fair result, one the we needed. Still plenty of issues to deal with, we look ridiculously stupid at times and our indiscretions have already cost us and will cost us further if they don't cut it out

So impressed with Jackson, we really have a player on our hands here. Clarry was electric and it was great to see him hang on to the ball a little longer before disposing. Viney worked his butt off as usual and I have to say without Stephen May tonight we could have been left with tomato sauce all over the carpet, thought he was brilliant.

Gus's game was as stinky as they come first half, I hate to say it but this is not the first time a move to the middle has yielded good results. Happy to stick with Sparrow for a few games he certainly goes.

Beat North Melbourne in 4 days, that is all. Lose and this one is worth about as much as a fried snowflake.

With all their changes and with one man down early, we were always going to be safe going into the last quarter, but there's one thing we got right in the last quarter in particular. We got the midfield set up right. Instead of having Viney run into Petracca every second stoppage, we had the right mix of Oliver, Gus and Petracca in the middle for most of the last quarter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Gus played a single minute in the midfield in the first half.

As soon as Viney went into stoppages in the final quarter, our set up was decidedly less effectively than having Oliver as the first ball stoppage winner.

Jack had a good first half, but his goal in the final quarter is what he'll need to do IMO. He needs to spend significant time forward, with occasional midfield bursts.

That was not Oliver's best game, but he was best afield by quite some stretch. It was against very ordinary opposition, but he can do that against the best too. Posters calling for him to play forward are totally misguided IMV. The most talented player we've had at the club in my 33 years. People expect the world from him, when he's already won 2 BnFs and AA rep at the age of 23. The guy is a star and elite most weeks.

The other guy I wanted to talk about is Jackson. Really excited by his nous. I liked the idea of throwing him into the ruck in the second quarter and it worked to throw out O'Brien's dominance of Gawn. He's also a smart player around stoppages, when the ball is on the deck and positionally in the forward half.

I really liked the interplay between Weideman and Jackson tonight and our forwardline looks immediately less congested without McDonald. I thought AVB and ANB's pressure was good tonight, because Bennell looks like he's trying to get through games and avoid contact, and Fritsch looks to avoid contact where possible too.

Against good sides we would have struggled tonight, but hopefully that last quarter restores a bit of the confidence we seemed to have built going into the Brisbane game.

Viney actually has good goal sense, amazing when you move players around to add other parts to their game.

Good to see Gawn ruck less time tonight which i thought that was a good piece of management.

Gus went from picking daisy to actually winning the pill which was good to see.

Bennell just not doing it for me at the minute, i just don't think he's going to recapture past glories even in though he's 27 y.o.

Sparrow some encouraging sign from the young lad.

Jackson's style probably compares close to NicNat in his agility and attack on the footy.

Gus should feel good about his game, if he can build from his solid 2nd half and regain form it might just be the difference that sees us play finals.

I like Sparrows compete.

The Weed/Jacko fwd combo with no TMAC remains undefeated.

Heart wasn't confident, but head said we would run away with it in the 4th quarter, GO DEES!

Shame we had to play the bottom team tonight, hard to take much out of it.

Great to pile on a few at the end, but the skills were a worry all game as per usual.  Horrible first half against what is basically a rabble.

None of the players we brought in improved us in any way really, however we didn't miss the fast food chain brothers at all.  Stephen May was a PRESENCE.  We're lucky to have him.

An under pressure bogey side in North Melbourne will be a huge step up for us.

Thought we controlled the second half, didn't transfer it onto the scoreboard in the 3rd but put the foot on the throat in the 3rd. Not forgetting how difficult it is coming off 4 day break and then you're 2 goals down at 3 quarter time and we kick the first of the last they dropped off a fair bit.

Clarrie measured and outstanding

Viney set the tone early

Jackson wow showing plenty and certainly came up against a very good defender tonight. Like the way he and Weid work together.

May and Lever very good

Brayshaw excellent 2nd half.

Still plenty of room for improvement, turnovers and transition issues from defensive half as were on display in the first half tonight will see you going in 5+ goals down at halftime against decent sides.

Also taking into account Crows have been good at home

Couldn't agree more.  Always great to watch us win a game of footy, and we don't often knock sides off by over 8 goals, but we knocked off one of the worst sides the comp has seen in some time, and that includes the early Gold Coast sides.

What this win will do is give us some confidence going forward.  Knock off the Roos and that might mean a little more.  As someone said earlier, the Pies after that will be the real test.

I hope it's confidence and not bathwater

Big second half from Angus was good to see...coincided with him attending more centre bounces and playing in the guts.  Was a critical adjustment in the second half.  Huge arm wrestle between the arcs in the 3rd quarter tired the Crows out and set up the 4th quarter procession.

The midfield mix looked so much more dynamic with Clayton bursting out of there. I'm glad we had to work hard for the four points, think we will take much more out of that than an absolute hammering.

I felt for most of the night that if we could get a 4 goal break on them we'd be fine but it would have been good to have done that a little earlier in the game. Tracca has found it a little hard to break tackles these last couple of weeks. I wonder if we can reinvent T-Mac in another role as he'll find it difficult to get back in the side as things look right now. Weid seems to have come into his own a little now that he is the senior tall in the forward line. Injuries aside you'd think Nev might struggle to get back into the 22 now.

A little sad to Max say he might not play next week. If he needs a break, give it to him though.

ANB will be suspended, but Lockhart should be ok.

Vanders is injured again? Max mentioned a broken arm of some sort? He looked proppy to me.

Good.  He's hopeless.   Never has been any good.  Never will be any good.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
