Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Frost was never going to follow team rules or the game plan with us. He danced to the beat of his own drum. How many times did he dash down the field, turn the ball over and then watch a rebound goal? How many times did he fail to apply his part in the zone? Remember May going off at him for doing his own thing?

Maybe Clarko has changed him. Dunno. My hawk supporting mates like his passion and flair, but not his disposal

Nope, he's still the same if not worse. Hasn't improved one bit. And to think I thought this would bite us back in the [censored].. after watching his past 3 games I've never been so wrong then I am now.

I disagree. Frosty is an athletic mobile lockdown defender. Playing under the mantra of play-on-at-all-costs doesn’t suit his skill set. However since we have dialled down the rpm’s  his disposal would not have hurt us as much.

He could quite easily take down 1st defender allowing May to do some major rebound damage or even switch up into the forward line as an elusive Plan B.

Letting him go at the expense of O Mac is yet another mammoth of a [censored] up.

Think of it this way, Clarky sees value in him - Goodwin does not. Who would you trust?

This is the same Clarko who blew first round picks to get O'Meara, first Round picks to get in Mitchell, traded first Round pick Ryan Burton and 2nd Round Pick for Frost.

Recent years suggest, desperation and not wishing to acknowledge the need to bottom out

Same Clarko that saw value in Jack Fitzpatrick and Ty Vickery?

Do you believe he'll get another? That's of more relevance

They've made some serious trading blunders in the last 3 years. Can't see Frost being a win for them

Hayden Young will win a brownlow one day. Mark my words. Jackson isn't really one of my major issues. I'm just infuriated by the continuous selection of midgets with high picks (spargo, pickett) and trading away first rounders (lever, may) as well as our inability to select anyone good with a rookie pick. I know rookies are lotteries but we seem to get alot of fililpovic type operators.

Stoked to hear this clown has been kicked off permanently.

On a more serious note, Jackson, Pickett and Rivers looking like they'll go on to be becoming solid players for the MFC.

What's more exciting is that we are yet to see, and no rush in playing Bailey Laurie and Jake Bowey who I think we'll both add considerable skill level to our team.

You'd hate seeing a comment like this after Kosi's start to the season.

Worth every draft pick over and over.

North are a cautionary tale for any club that refuse to face reality. Hawthorn not in as bad a position but as you point out, some of their recent trading has been woeful.

Funny reading back though the thread about Frost. I loved his big heart but his defending was a liability. Our defensive unit is so much better without him. I wonder how he'll go today against Geelong.

Did we turn the second rounder we got for him into Rivers? Huge win if we did.

Jason Taylor has a good eye for it, IMO.

He had a particular good year in 2019 - three young guys who are already entrenched in the best 22. No need to wait and see if they come good, they already are. Somewhat annoyingly, he was also very keen on Georgiadis that year and Butters in 2018.

Maybe the only questionable one he has on his resume is Weideman at 9 in 2015, but even that selection is getting pretty close to parity. No point picking Curnow if he never gets on the park.

clearly not picking the right players for us. Wasting draft picks. Why these guys are on our list bewilders me

Questionable selections

-pickett for a first rounder, quite possibly the number 1 pick

-passing on hayden young (great footskills off the hbf. Exactly what we need)

-recruiting lever and may with 3 first round picks

-getting two wingers who can't kick

-jordon with a second rounder

Taylor needs to go

Early days yet and rough to judge a player after only half a dozen games, but Hayden Young looks lost out there

Really? Injured now but played well against us and pretty much every game he’s played in. Young and Serong were the safe picks in that draft but sometimes you need to take risks.

He’s played well at Hawthorn. I’d still like to have him, he could take Nev’s role and give us a tall and super quick defensive group. We’ve been lucky at this stage Tomlinson is more suited to key back than I expected. Hopefully it lasts.

The super restrictive AFL rules on future picks meant we had to trade out a player to get a pick in to do the Kozzie deal. That and salary cap management that probably wasn’t ideal. Spending too much on certain players that could’ve been banked.

Jason Taylor’s not perfect - he seems to struggle to get depth talls and outside mids but he’s clearly very good. The new question is whether Tim Lamb can keep shaping the list. Need to resign some big names and then manage some tricky trade ins and outs to keep building.

You don't like Clarko do you ?

Actually O'Meara as an ex no 1 pick was worth the risk & jury is still out. Mitchell has won a Brownlow so thats a big win. Burton was traded for Wingard & so far that's about even & Frost who is playing regularly for a 2nd rounder is a good deal.

So those 4 trades are a win for Hawthorn I reckon.

So you pick 2 players that were recruited by a club & "failed" .  In isolation that doesn't actually prove anything unless you could demonstrate statistically that their recruiting success rate is any better or worse than other clubs.

In any case Fitzpatrick virtually cost nothing & Vickery had teased at Richmond & was worth a punt.

Hawthorn need some young talent, constant trading of their picks is seeing them slide further into the abyss. Good riddance from mine

Correct. That trio - Jackson, Pickett, Rivers - comprise the best bundle of pick-ups Melbourne has received since we got Viney, Spalding and Dean in one whack in 1987. (And they were 'adult' players when we got them.) Complementary skills and talents. As for Bowey, he'll be in the seniors soon enough.

I agree. All 3 look as though they could be A grade stars. Rivers a safe bet to be an A grader and he was taken with our later pick. We truly lucked out on trade night.

I don't think Jason Taylor would agree with you. I'm sure he'd be saying there was no luck involved just elite professional talent spotting and pick negotiating.

Rivers was always going to be the litmus test for me for that draft. I was in the get Young at pick 3 at all costs camp because we so needed his elite kicking. But the hope was that once we got Jackson, Rivers could produce a similar output to Young, then Jackson becomes a bonus compared to getting Young at pick 3. As it's turned out Rivers has delivered in spades arguably out performing Young. He went at 100% DE against GWS. In my book it's hard to argue against 100% all some on here no doubt would

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
