Posting Unsubstantiated Rumours on this Website is Strictly Forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Back from a weeks ban and just wanted to get two things off my chest.

1  -  Team selection was diabolical and it was obvious we would get flogged as soon as the teams were named.  Instead of dropping an extra inside mid  (Harmes or Brayshaw or both) we bought in Tom Sparrow, on top of Nathan Jones the week before.  Goodwin wont be happy until we have 22 inside mids out there.  And the Tom McDonald selection was pathetic.  He gave exactly what you'd expect, sweet [censored] all.

2 -  The amount of posters who were happy with the Brisbane loss....  just pathetic to witness.  56 years of failure and we are into Goodwins 5th season and supporters still think losses are ok.  We had the game for the taking and blew it as usual.

I thought Lever wasnt bad. Took 7 marks.

But that tackle count is very bad.

I thought Lever was good individually also, as was May on Dixon. But our system seems to depend on individual efforts rather than group cohesion.

As in, when one of our talls goes up, how are the others positioning themselves to best put direct pressure on opposition forwards?

Very good question.  Hinkley lay a trap and we fell for it!  We stopped Dixon but let others off the leash.

After the game he said he thought there would be two or three talls up against Dixon so his other talls were free to kick the goals and sure enough:  Georgiardis 3 and Westoff 2 .  He went on to say that if his talls kick 5-6 goals each week he doesn't care which player kicks them.

So Dixon was effectively a decoy -  But alas we didn't notice it or didn't adjust for it.

Brereton also drew attention to the flawed stoppage set up in the discussion on Fox today. Repeatedly getting gobbled up on the inside as players try to quick handball out of trouble. Doesn’t take a genius to see it either. Easy for the opposition to prepare for.

King was bewildered as to how a midfield of Gawn, Oliver, Petracca and Viney has not dominated clearance in any game this year.

The question is how easy is it to fix?

I watched it alone at home.  I yelled and slumped back in my chair, and yelled and slumped, and did it again and again and again.

At half time my TV took the initiative to go online to put in an order for a slipper guard to protect itself.

I turned the TV off at 3/4 time for the first time in......in fact I don't think I've EVER done that.  I ALWAYS watch till the end - until now.

In texting my beautiful partner during the game (we live apart), I was so [censored] off that it came through in my attitude and language and she's now [censored] at me.  Probably rightly so.

These are the learnings I took from the 'game'.

I don't need any more learnings like this.

You got banned... no i refuse to believe it... haha

You raise some valid points and i agree with them.

I will counter your argument with how do u rate Goodwin to Buckley and Hardwick first 3 - 5 years?

What do you think are limitations on performance?

Mahoney says our poor skills and execution were due to 1- conditions and 2- pressure.

Firstly the conditions were perfect. No dew. No wind. It was perfect.  Port didn’t have any trouble.

Pressure.  Sure Port applied A grade pressure but many of our MISTAKES were after a Mark or a Free Kick.  It wasn’t pressure.  It was LACK OF CONCENTRATION and LACK OF SKILL.

Mahoney said it was a one off.  Did he watch the Tigers game ?  That was also poor.

Our effort and attack on the footy is good.  Our skills and transferring the footy is very poor.  No excuses.

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun

The set up, is being put up, for an 11.45am post review training session.   32 in the full session. Rehab: Spargo (runners and singlet), Turner, BBB, and Verrall (looks to be a test).
