Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder how much internal heat there is on Goodwin? What would it take for Pert to get into the football department? Richardson has made no difference to our results - maybe he doesn't have much to offer, or maybe SG doesn't listen...

Brown was talking about lack of on-field leadership. Yep.

A soft team when the heat's on. Same as it ever was.

Christ. I've heard Richo "describe" his role on at least three separate interviews and I remain unconvinced even he understands what it is.

Right now, this is not a united club.  There are fractures within the playing group. Demonland always censor me when I try to post about them. Anyone pick up on Jones’ body language? Anyone ever seen Jones and Viney high five? Did Viney rally the troops at any stage tonight? Were Gus and Hogan two peas in a pod, cut from the same cloth? Is Tom McDonald horribly out of shape and does he crack the sads when his precious brother is on the outer?

So, who is to blame? It’s the coach and Mahoney! They create the culture within a group. The Goodwin “I’m mates with everyone” approach is over. These blokes need a rocket and to sort their [censored] out and he ain’t the man to do it. Gawn is in a tough situation, because he is the big friendly giant who is a little like Goody, everyone’s mate.

the Steven May interview post match was what I want to hear and I hope he gives it to a few behind closed doors. A lot of people begrudge his captaincy at GC, because he clashed with players. Yeah, because they were [censored] weak and he told them so. He drove high standards and the kids up there were more interested in the party scene on Caval Avenue.

home truths need to be spoken this week.

It was interesting seeing Jones very obviously decide not to handball to Viney when he was free on the outside at one point tonight. It was very noticeable.

Where was the May interview? Channel 7? I had it on kayo and didn't see it

May did a good job on Dixon but I thought he was poor tonight as well. His disposal was shocking, so many turnovers and out on the full.

I missed it too, because I'd turned off the train wreck, but if someone could let me know what was said, it would be much appreciated.

On the Melbourne website. May had a weird game, did some good stuff and some shocking stuff, just saw the replay of Rozee goal where he makes a goal spoil on Dixon then let's the ball between his legs and then completely ignores the ball and focusses on Dixon allowed Rozee easy access.

Yep, thought that play was horrendous and is an example of when May panics. This is something that I've been pointing out for a few weeks now. He needs to get better under pressure.

Having now watched that video with him post match, I like seeing him [censored] off. We need our guys showing a little bit of profession pride. Let's hope it's on the bloody football field next time.

Only problem with that - it lets the players completely off the hook and we end up with the tail wagging the dog all over again. At this stage I'd rather ship off the likes of Brayshaw, TMac and Fritsch than sack the coach again.

No the players are responsible They are definitely not off the hook

AND

if they doing what the coach says  that is definite

Remember when May told off Frost? Plenty of commentary, but he just has high  standards and expects others to as well. That’s the leadership we need on the field. He wasn’t great tonight, but he cares

Surely the Lions game was burning in them over the last 4 days? It was burning in the supporters. I would've expected the players to be chomping at the bit to get back out there and make amends for Sunday's loss. Port only had an extra days break and had to travel. I think we're letting the players/coaches/club off the hook for another [censored] poor performance

I was so looking forward to this game - as you say, you’d think that the Brisbane game was going to be the launch pad for great things. Instead, we got that. Almost the exact opposite of what I thought would happen.

I spent the breaks watching Simpsons season 9 as I couldn't bear to listen to the commentary, but I've just seen the article and accompanying video in the Herald Sun that has Gary rightly giving the club at a whack at half time. It also has Jonathan Brown's comments about Round 1 2019 and that the players wanted to show something, instead Brown said we served up 'crap'. He's spot on and the blow torch needs to fire up. How could Melbourne players accept their vice captain last year being whacked repeatedly to the ground and roughed up without anyone flying the flag and then in the return game the following year, we don't come out amd hit them. We serve up arguably our worst performance since the 2018 prelim. It speaks to a worrying lack of leadership and that old soft under belly returning again. And I tell you what, there's no way a Clarkson side would let that happen.

Steven May.

At least someone gets it.

I though he said "beat a team that's on top of the ladder"

The point is they can execute basic fundamentals, they just have to do it every week not just when they feel like it

The good news its either 5-5 in two weeks time and in the hunt for a sneaky finals spot after a couple of wins against bottom two. (We have played and lost against 5 of the top 6 teams)

Or we lose one (or both!) and some wholesale coaching/personnel changes will start being made.

The bad news is we dont have the money or draft position for a quick turnaround.  Deck chairs. Titanic.

The team that played tonight doesn’t deserve to play finals.

It was an insipid performance, and it hasn’t been this embarrassing to call yourself a Demons supporter for a while.

No it absolutely doesnt. But the team that played the last 3 weeks did.  Thats the point. Its a weird season and clearly form can bounce wildly.  Every team has put in a stinker or two.

May's comments about players needing to concentrate was telling. The interview was great - gave more insight into what wasn't working than a dozen coach's press conferences.

I'm considering reporting you to the delusional police Leon for upsetting so many happy clappers tonight.  Truthful or not, Deesgracefull summary indeed!  Their leader will be crying in his beard and may need a good wad of this to ease his anxiety and anger, IF he doesn't have you on mute already..."Gandalf!?? ...Gandalf??  Ahhh there you are"...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
