Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Lions have a better chance than the Hawks, for 2 reasons

Jonathan Brown and home ground advantage

I wouldnt be so sure about that

A fully fit Jonathan Brown is a beautiful thing to behold.

WOW, what a surprise.

You all have the demons finishing so high....?

Other than a vehicle for the stimulation of discussion these predictors are a waste of time. The winners of most major tipping comps have a strike-rate around 68%. The average mug has a success-rate not much better than even money. The predictors are a measure of your ability to pick 8 winners. Gee, there are only 21 million million possible ladders to choose from.

Freaky, that ladder is pretty close to my own.

From memory, I went with

WC

Melbourne

Freo

Dogs

Adelaide

Sydney

St. Kilda

Richmond

the rest

I made comments including 'Kangaroos to finish lower than 16th if they lose Nathan Thompson for an extended period' and 'West Coast could drink themselves if not under, then at least down the table.'

I feel guilty about Nathan Thompson, and now I fear I must pity the unfortunate Kangaroos.

Really hoping my dire predicitions for Essendon, Brisbane and Collingwood all come true, though!!

Jeez, without Thompson and Harding for the year I fail to see how the Kangaroos can kick a winning score yet many of you have them winning 5 or 6 games. They will have to rely on Grant and Jones for the majority of the scoring, both of whom are midfielders or HFF at best and also two young rookies that like to crumb the packs but without Thompson there will be no packs to scavenge.

Their defence is already being built around Hansen who, is a massive talent but, is in his first year and cannot be expected to take the #1 forward week in week out. With their best ruckman having to play CHF and a ruck combo with a combined 23 senior games to their credit, I think they are a shoe in for the spoon and first crack at Judd in the PSD.

Interesting the differing opinions on the Lions. Very hard to predict where they will end up.

I must say, I am as shocked as the rest of you at the fact that I have Carlton in the 8 above teams such as Collingwood, Adelaide and Hawthorn....

But as I was going thru the fixture, it struck me that we could have a bloody ripper season on our hands! I believe Geelong will finally do what they have been promising their supporters for a long time, and finally stand up!

As for the dees, well a home final against last years premiers would be a nice way of testing our theory of improving each season!!!

You have the Dees in 4th meaning they would play Geelong!

Carlton in the 8? ...............................................

Although if we lose at the cattery, we would get a home semi against WB or Saints, and then it would be off to play Freo or Sydney in the Prelims.

Also Carlton in the 8?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
