Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: Rd 08 vs Brisbane

Well .. bugger!

My voice is stuffed, some shocking calls tonight.

Lever mark on the goal line for it to be brought back for a score review hurt us. We had players out the other side and Brisbane got to set up for the kick with it coming back for the review ..

Some easy missed goals, some poor decisions late. That being said, we took it right up to Brisbane. Viney just goes hard all day. Oliver cleaned up his game after the first half. Really think we have a player with Jackson. For his size he is special at ground level with a great leap and awesome athleticism.

Now for the drive back to Brisbane, we back on it 4 days time.

Surprised no one has brought up the Kozzy ‘dangerous tackle’ decision. Absolute garbage. Viney has been tackled tht way all night. Pathetic.

the Hannan kick, regardless of the stupidity of Fritsch that followed, was shocking too. Deep to a pocket. Even if Fritsch marks, what Is the chance he kicks it? A long central kick would have been better. There are those that will say, but at least it would have been a throw in..so what..the game was there to be won, you need to ask questions of the opposition in those final minutes if you wanna win games.

Agree with you on most of it, but will hold on the trade till the end of the season. Can’t do basic kicks or handballs and is slow. Terrible game.

There’s; no point being dual sided if you cant hit the side of a barn with either. Spends more energy running on and off the ground than anything else. Would much prefer to see Jordon or Sparrow brought in to the mix than continue to see his fumbles and turnovers.

Agree with all that Rab. Massively frustrated with getting the rough end of the pineapple especially during the last almost climaxic 90 seconds. Thwarted again by lesser mortals sadly and our own keep shooting themselves in the foot. Rather than putting scoreboard pressure on. Filthy on  the 50 metre penalty against Fritter. Brisvegas boys were doing the exactly same and had umpiring immunity.

Trac made a mighty effort to break through the Brisbane line to give us that opportunity and I feel if we'd just been able to corral them into their own half in that final minute of play we may well have had one more bite of the cherry. Still, it was our really poor kicking in front of goal that cost us this one TC.

Spot on, he didn't need to honour that lead. And that lead would have created a hole in the fwd space.

I am officially off Brayshaw. Needs to be dropped and traded at years end.

Slow, fumbles and no intensity at all. An absolute training cone out there.

9 touches for the night. Has been awful all season. Missed a 3 metre handball at one stage. Lacks urgency and fumbles constantly. Surely we can bring someone else in who will have a red hot go...because he isn’t at the moment, he is just coasting along

Moments that stick out

Melksham possibly taking a two grabber 30m out, if it hit the deck what the [censored] was he suppose to do. Instantly tackled , umpire calls HTB.

McCluggage tackled and clearly drops the ball in fwd 50 during end of 1st quarter, no call.

Bennell open goal goes the other way and Cameron shows him how to do it at top pace from further out, big ooof.

The numerous Brisbane defensive short kicks that were deemed legal distance, in the first half.

Oscar Mc who fell victim to HTB against the grain (looked like he got a knuckle on it).. side note O mac going alright .

That diabolical goal umpire call that stopped Jones who was clear on the wing. Handbrake on all momentum.

Fritsch end of game. need to see it again but that was a very generous 50m.

Errrrrrrreggghjjjjjjjjhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It's this basic s4It that costs us

Fritsch marked the ball and, had it not been centimetres out, would have had a shot at goal.

On the other hand, if he bombs it to the 25 out to contest, they may have the numbers and run the ball out.  Or we mark it and goal.  Who knows.

But to suggest that decision somehow cost us the game is laughable.  Plenty of other errors cost us tonight.  This really wasn't one of them.

Bennell kicks a goal from 15 and we win. Jesus

And Pickett missed a sitter after burning a teammate in the goal square. Langdon also missed a sitter after chopping off a ball meant for Melksham not to mention Harmes and Weid missing sitters

They missed a few as well but Jesus those misses absolutely killed us

Gutted less with the loss however  the holding the ball rule has affected the game and bamboozled the supporters and the guessing of the umpiring decisions to that rule.

We will live to fight another day which is Thursday against Port. We will be right this time.

Watch Hannah's last kick to Fritter in the pocket. THREE Brisbane players easily within 5m of Hannan. Why no 50m for that????

Needed to go back further behind the mark and assess.  Had he done so he 'might' have gotten the 50 but unlikely from the umps who were against us for much of the evening.

Instead he lost his head and almost immediately played on to a player leading to probably the lowest % spot in the forward line.  Terrible decision making.

No poise forward of center all night other than Chunk and Melk.

He’s young and has time, but he’s definitely being overhyped. This was his output at underage level - looked flashy and exciting, but ultimately had low output. It’s why I wasn’t keen on him at such as high pick. He looks exactly the same at afl level, flashy but contributes little. Hopefully he learns to get to better crumbing positions, as he missed opportunities to crumb 3-4 goals due to flying when he shouldn’t have or being in the complete wrong position.

Jackson on the other hand is getting to the right spots and with more strength could become a weapon. Really pleased with his development so quickly for a tall guy.

Our mids got a touch up through quarters 2-3, but ruck the umpires cost us the match at the end. Absolutely corrupt [censored]. The club should stand up and demand a please explain.

Also, why does Clarry not get more free kicks? He’s held at nearly every stoppage but never gets a free kick when warranted.

Agree with this, they were holding him at most stoppages in the first half.

Didn't suggest it cost us the game, re-read the post!

But a very legitimate question as to why he'd hit a lead deep in the pocket...

Had he hit a target 15-20m closer to goal in the middle and it's a massively easier shot than a left footer from outside boundary line 45 out

Keep it simple ....

Did he look up and see them covering the middle, and therefore went wider to at least give us a chance?

It's a hindsight thing.  If he kicks the ball to around 20m out, we can pluck a mark, rove the pack etc... or they can mop it up and start the run going the other way.  We'll never know.

What we do is that he saw the option of Fritsch on the lead in the pocket.  Unless we see a camera angle we don't know what else was happening inside 50 so I think it's slightly harsh to criticise him for it.

Well, the Brions threw the kitchen sink at us. But the one thing MFC has over every other team ... the ONE THING ... is that we are the masters of frenetic chaos ball. So they tried to take us on at our own game. Credit where credit's due. They outdid us at that today.

Tried to rough up Gawn too. That's so 2019! But Max didn't have that much impact. So again, points to the Brions. They planned for this and it worked. What did our coaches plan for?

Brions are a well drilled team ... they have someone in position for every circumstance. In trouble? Kick wide, someone will be there.

It's understood that we have very little system. But taking that into consideration, ultimately, the difference between the teams? Ball handling. Ours just a bit off. Whether due to pressure, or we're simply not that skilled ... (I think I know which one to choose).

Sorry to say, Gus is now a liability. Is he a contributor? For every contribution, there are two [censored]ups. Either a fumble, a kick that's too high, a missed possession ... back to the twos, Gus.

Jackson kid ... knows where to go, what to do. With some experience, will be a weapon. Unless it's Goodwined out of him. Here's hoping.

Goddamn. The umps don't know what they're doing ... they are so lost ... "15" metre kicks ... incorrect disposal ... inexplicable decisions ... this is broken record stuff ... every week, every match. Is anyone in charge of the umpires department? AFL might like to consider putting someone in a role like that.

Seriously ... they are so bad, it should be a scandal ... every contest is a randomised outcome of free for, free against, or no decision, regardless of what actually takes place. In every match, not just MFC ones.

Congrats to the Brions, and if our coaches have any idea at all, they will learn from this and improve our side. I don't have much faith in them doing that.

Good summary. It was negative all the way through - and that is how I felt the game was progressing from early in the First Qtr. It was a good, partial fightback in the last qtr but the negatives (largely those above) had taken their toll or continued to rock and roll to our greater disadvantage. A clearer plan for the MFC was demonstrated by the 'Brions' - and to our advantage, in every line, we have better players.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
