Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He's messing up the balance in the back half with Smith,  and Hibbo who has just found the go button again.

We need some brains up front, and courage.  Because there aint none up there, between them.

OUT:

Rivers: has showed some good signs and I'm confident he'll be a player.  With some errors creeping in, needs to take a break and develop and freshen-up away from the spotlight.

Smith: He has his fans on here, but I'm not one of them.  Bringing in Oscar as a stopper should free up Lever.

vandenBerg: Huge fan of his, but he's not making a big enough impact.  Can hurt the opposition with his tackling, but doesn't hurt them with his possessions.

Hunt: Not a natural ball-finder and therefore needs a lot to go right for him to have a big impact.  Plays a similar style and role to Hannan but, as Hannan kicked 3, Hunt goes out.

Jamie Bennell is no longer at the club.  Harley may be good but there is only 1. I think it’s Melksham you want. Similar team to mine. I’ve kept Rivers I’m to give him one more week.

Pickett had the most tackles on the ground. His forward pressure is like gold for us.  Even though its early days hes going to tear a game open very soon.

Agree with Lockhart and especially Melksham whos a  shadow of his former self.

‘Thin ice’ was perhaps too dramatic, but while he’s a talent, he’s still very raw.  Will be a good player, but no rush at this stage.

I'd still play him.  Hunt, AVB and even Melksham deserve the flick before him.  At least you feel as though he puts the pressure on and is capable of doing something special.  The other three can't get near it.

Would love to here some of the reasons why people still have Tomlinson in the team.

Apart from the idea his familiarity with Giants stadium could come in useful. Might know where the change rooms are for half time.

He has to be one of the most awful recruits in recent history even for us. Can't catch an opponent. Takes an eternity to deliver the ball and his kicking efficiency has been as bad as any of our mids. Can't get off the ground to compete in the air. Hits the contest with Jack Watts level apprehension. 193cm of waddling waste.

For a muscle bound wingman, he's incredibly soft. I'd be putting in the time into Oskar Baker instead.

I would seriously try May at full forward and TMac at full back.

Maybe even try Lever up forward too and Weideman down back.

We need to try something drastic to break  ground hog day week after week.

I still think that even though he's away from the Victorian hub, the message that he's now the coach under the most pressure in the AFL will reach Goody and he will be forced to take action and make a stand on unacceptable efforts and brainfades.

So this is the week where Oliver and Melksham, two men that were integral in our rise up the ladder in 2018, will be made accountable and forced to watch on for a week. Jones and Brown take their spots. Tom Mac could also join them, but I suspect he will get another week.

Hunt and Rivers will also go with Bennell and ANB back in the side. Tomlinson will start down back allowing Harley the wing. Jetta is likely to replace Smith (leaving Lever as the third tall). Then it's whether Goody wants to infuriate us all by recalling Oscar  and Spargo as well. Ultimately pace will go out and smarter build up from the back will be what Goody will try and achieve.

Out: Oliver, Melksham, Hunt, Rivers and J.Smith

In: Jones, Brown, ANB, Bennell and Jetta

? First name on the board for the outs as far as I am concerned.  A wingmen with no leg speed and can't use the ball by foot.....wouldn't have thought we'd have needed to recruit outside our club for a player like that.

Yeah, I've just been reconsidering that now myself.  I had Tomlinson at CHB.

But I think I'd be better off with Brown back there in my team.

I still want Lever forward to general/instruct.  He's meant to be smart.   Well there's a challenge for him.  To make the forwardline function smarter.  A bit like Lewis's role

And i think Smith has a longer career in the back line than Lever.   Smith does have to learn it.   But his attributes I think can/will work, in the longer term.

Tomlinson has to be more physical and contest more bodily,  than what he's shown so far.   Weak effort.

Melksham and Hannan are quick and can mark but they are not 'clever' forwards. Hunt is quick but not clever. Bennell is clever and can distribute the ball well and Pickett shows those traits. VB adds toughnness.

We need another tall forward. I would bring in Jackson who can play forward as a target and ruck to get Gawn up forward at times.

I would bring in Bennell for Hunt and Jetta for Langhorne.

Geez wasn't that free against Petracca that resulted in a gimme goal either or a joke or a disgrace or both.

If we are not going to drop(or remove from the centre square) Oliver or Viney, then I think it's time we turn one into a negater/tagger.

My preference would be Viney, as his skill is on a similar level to DeBoer, so you can have him solely in the centre to stop the opposition best mid and have Oliver and whoever else hunting the ball.  It's not working having them both hunt, win and then use the ball.

Out                In

VDB.              Bennell.  Skill & speed replaces strength

Lockhardt.   Jetta.      Better player & disposal

Hunt.             Weideman.    Need another forward marking target

Not often teams win after making more than 3 changes!

Under the pump this week:

Melksham

Tomlinson
Lever
Hannan
Smith

TMac

Salem

Just getting started, looks promising for the future:
Rivers
Pickett

Positives vs Tigers:

Petracca

Hibberd (new lease of life)

We need some sort of stability from now on. Would like to see Jackson,Weid and Smith rotate between FF,CHF and HF,Brown to be a backup. Oliver,Benell and Kozzie in the F/Hf position. Centre Gawn,Petracca and Harmes.T.Mac CHB with occasional ruck duties.Brayshaw,Fitz,Lever CHB/Back flank and O'Mac FB. Interchange Hunt,Viney,Baker,Sparrow/May. Playing guys who we are likely to delist years end doesn't make sense.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
