Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why does smith get "not a defender"? All he did today was defend Riewoldt. Lever is "not a defender", he just floats around pointing fingers.

Viney/Oliver/Melsham/Tomlinson/Langdon : Disposal issues

Brayshaw : needs game time ( the reson he goes missing is because he is sitting on bench !!)

Small Fwd Line : Not working because of point 1

Decision making : non existaent

Hibberd : I will eat my words -great effort game

TMac : See point 1 ----moved well

Hannan : was good breaks lines

Pickert/Lockart : Overwhelmed but promising

Weid/ OMac/ Jetta/ Jones : Missing the maturity

Umpires : Invent rule changes

Crowd noise : Advantage : Drowns out Taylor

Disadvantage : Sounds like American "comedy"

Harsh on Gawn.  He was excellent.  Equal leading tackler on the ground, huge number of hitouts to advantage, 22 disposals at 64% efficiency and 5 marks.  Even Jay Clark gave him a vote in the Herald Sun.  I reckon the man has set an impossibly high standard here!

He got those hit outs in the last quarter once Nankervis was injured. Gawn's form is an issue, his inability to kills balls on the goal line once again on show. Needs to be stronger in the contest.

Rubbish.  He had 19 disposals to 3/4 time and his 6 tackles were all recorded up until 3/4 time.  As I said, he has set an incredibly high standard and his form in two of the four games we've played has seen him in the top three on the ground.  He was certainly more than acceptable last week and only in round 1 would I say he was beaten by Naitanui.  He comprehensively beat Nankervis.

Nankervis got a goal and 3 score involvements in his 46% ground time. Gawn had a direct turnover inside defensive 50 and one score involvement from the whole game. We were losing clearances by about 5 when Nankervis went off. Nank had 11 pressure acts to gawn's 15 despite being on the ground half the amount of time. I expect and we require a lot more from our captain. Is having an ordinary season and wouldn't be in the top handful of Ruckman on his form this season.

Disagree.  Nankervis goal was a gimmee from a terrible umpiring decision against Petracca.  Nankervis got injured immediately before 3/4 time.  Chol and Nakervis shared ruck duties and Gawn played 90% on ground.  He beat both Chol and Nakervis convincingly and if you saw it any other way I doubt you were watching the same game as me.  Gawn was not the reason we played so poorly today. And as for the season.  We've played 4 games.  He was beaten in round 1, was second best on ground in round 2 according to the coaches (8 votes), beat the Geelong rucks last week and was clearly in the best 5 or 6 on the ground today.  Solid enough form for me.

Like when Chol streamed out of the center and hit Riewoldt lace out while Gawn was lying on the ground in the center? We must have been watching different games, I can't remember ever seeing a Melbourne player do that.

Gawn is doing ok, but Brody is now well ahead of him.

Except he Grundy couldn't beat Phillips on Friday night.  Grundy has played 1 good game this season - round 1 against the Bulldogs.  Todd Goldstein has actually been the form ruckman this season.

So you are saying Chol was a more influential player today than Gawn?  Righto!

Influential? Sure he had 4 score involvements and twice showed AFL standard skills to hit a leading forward inside 50. If the benchmark for Gawn is breaking even with someone like Chol or Nank we are wasting our money. He should be dominating these guys, taking big marks and kicking goals.

Are you Simon Goodwin? What influence did Gawn have on the game? Sure he helps us get it forward, but that doesn't win you games of football. Are you gonna celebrate that we won the inside 50s?

When did Gawn take a big mark or set up a goal? I'm not interested in a tall player with average skills getting 22 posessions, this is on of the reasons we can't connect with our forward line. If he can't get a quick handball of to a runner, we are restricted to a long kick down the line or a loopy 20 meter pass.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
