Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Our Midfield group has the worst disposal in the league.

Coachibg and structure aside, we wont win with this group of butchers.

The players are always rushed. They are always under so much pressure to perform, ironically, because our team consistently perform below expectations. Playing with discipline, and to a structure would certainly help. But when the players have been taught to play 'chaos football', a central pillar to that is pressure, and an unfortunate flow-on effect is lack of composure, poise, and discipline. We really need to shift our whole approach, starting with our game plan. We are in desperate need of pace around our midfield, but more importantly, pacey players who can use the football. What I would give for Brodie Smith or Josh Kelly. I'd sell the farm for Kelly. But unfortunately, due to amateur trading decisions, we kind of just have to make do with what we have now.

I dont care what they do now.

Fire goody. Fire the FD trade players who cares....

I have no idea what will make them take easy options and give their team mates a chance.

Most teams develop and improve decision making or skills or something. We continue to butcher the ball and waste the supportees time.

Look at this...

Viney with the ball kicking inside 50.

Left to right he has Hunt running to space, McDonald on his own with no one near him and Langdon on his own with no one near him.

Where does it go?

Long bomb to Fritsch in a 1v3

That not a problem with the forward structure.  It's just taking the wrong option when going inside 50.

Much as I like Viney, he is one of the worst offenders.

Urgh, I was screaming at my TV during this play. Seeing the image makes it worse.

Immensely frustrating.

If i have time and effort i was going to do the smae thing.

The decision making is unbelievable and had not imporved over 2 seasons.

Did 1 of our clearences go to a team mate?

Blame paul roos, these are the type of players he wanted contested players.

We loaded up on them  the issue we have is we will the footy but turn it over because we have poor disposl skills

Careless;  selfish,  and just pathetic,  are our Mids at this point.  Oliver I think has drunk too many bathtubs of his bathwater.

Get Max out of there;  and let our midfielders earn the ball the hard way,  Via skill and reading the opponents ruckwork.

Fine our midfields individually, for errors of disposal.  if they don't hit the chest of target they can cough it up.  $50.00 bucks per time.

Our player right in front of the umpire is prime target.    And what do they do.

Jack Viney - handball to someone under pressure, get it back and kick it straight to the opposition, it’s his go to.

This may sound dramatic but I would let him explore his Free Agency rights.  We would only get a 2nd round pick but importantly free up a huge chunk of salary cap which may help get us a KPF.

I know a lot of people will shout me down but step back.  If his name wasn't Viney would you not look to let him go elsewhere.

I've been very critical of Viney. He is a bull but is a liability around the ground.

The worst part is he is not alone. All of our mids can't seem to find space and make good decisions with disposal.

It's embarrassing. We win so much of the ball and just give it to the opposition.

I also can't understand why we can't keep the ball in our forward half. But it all starts in the middle.

I am going to highlight cases over this week. I am not going to pick on guys trying to play fast and making mistakes, but there were a lot of of examples in this game of poor decisions and kicks out numbered forwards instead of holding or running the ball.

I noticed a lot today that we were clear and would turn backwards and handball into trouble. Hadn’t noticed it as much in previous weeks. We had many times when we could’ve gained possession moved towards our goals and drawn a player for an easy handball over the top (making it 2v 1), but instead did a half turn and handballed backwards (giving the tigers time to flood back and get their defence set up). Only times we looked good was when we got possession and just went (I felt like the coaches had instructed our players not to play on (except for fritsch)). With no tall forwards we need to play on more and run more as we can’t slow the ball down and kick long down the line to smalls.

At least we have the draft to look forward too... oh wait :p. Pickett does look good when he gets it!

100% agree.

There were times in the game where we took the game on but made mistakes and I can live with that.

It's the first examples I can't.

We laud Brayshaw on this site - he is another who gets the ball but butchers it constantly. I will get the clip but there was one instance he had time and space on the wing, rather then handballing to a running player to advantage he took on a kick to a 1 v 5 which rebounded for a goal.

It is likely even if he handballed we'd have still turned it over but as a midfield group they are always going for the long open the game up kick rather than taking easy options and helping us hold the ball.

We may not score but fudge me it will still has to be better then giving the ball to the opposition

We drafted the same players, again we went extremes, under Dean Bailey we went for runners, mobility his game plan was based around attack  then Neeld and Roos wanted defensive mindset contested football and now we are left with an group that can't play the game as required today because we can't keep the football.

If you turn the ball over like we do and enter the forward 50m arc like we do we just can't play the game style we want to play.

It is simple push forwards onto the ball and out number at the contest, issue is we are all around the ball once it gets out we are out numbered, once it hits our forward 50m arc it is 2 v 4 ball goes in straight back out with overlap runners our back 6 have no chance the ball comes in that quick.

Until we can keep the football we need to keep our forwards forward at least give us a chance to keep the footy forward

He traps himself on his left side and from there can only see the long options and maybe Hunt - but can't get the ball to Hunt with the man on the mark and defender in the way. McDonald and Langdon may as well not exist.

We have this refusal to go back over the mark and look up and hit targets. Constantly playing on yet rarely ever getting a chance to see the field in front of us.

Everything is so rushed because we are desperate to get the ball forward quickly not trusting our forwards.

Even Harmes has turned out to be a more important player!

Yes, Yes, and the 4 years of drafting and recruiting decisions has everything to do with Paul Roos and nothing to do with our current staff. Give me a spell.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
