Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most Frustrating Team in the AFL

Absolutely... I really cannot remember a team which dominates most games they play in the key stats, i50s, clearance & contested ball.. yet cannot win consistently or put teams away.

I really do hang onto the hope that we are 1 step away from making it click but this frustration is really getting old. We need to make this work and fast, we already have an entire generation of fans embarrassed to support the dees as we have been dog [censored] for over a decade. There will be no supporters left if we need to rebuild again.

You are not alone G.

We are once again in finanical trouble, a bottom 3-4 finish could easily be the coup de grace in this finance restricted year of the virus. No MFC no AFL for me too. I will be disappointed but what the last year has taught me is it is only a game. There other way more important things in life. Just fly or crash I am really tired of being stuck in the middle.

We are.  Unfortunately that step is recruiting a couple of genuine key forwards and developing them while overhauling our gameplan and bringing in a proper forward line coach so that we actually have a workable forward structure and tactics to deliver the ball to them in a useful fashion.  It might take a while.

That all sounds perfect, really. And fantastic that it’s only a step away.

How on Earth do we expect to develop anyone with the absolute Chump we have in charge? I struggle to name a single player who has become consistently better since he took over the reigns.

Can you think of anyone other than maybe Petracca? Even then he has only been a flash in the pan who we HOPE has turned the corner.

Anyone else? I really cant think of anyone immediately who is a better player for having been coached by Goodwin.

He hasnt exactly turned them into spuds, but surely there should have been a noticeable improvement in the majority of the list in the last few years. Its easy to argue the opposite has happened.

Yes, im frustrated.

I'm so deflated from Sundays game, its become a broken record.

I'm really disappointed in Oliver, he does all the hard work and is genuinely a top5 talent in the entire league but time and time again handballs back inside the contest or if its outside the contest he turns to the outnumbered player. so much so i believe opposition clubs have the read on him an know exactly which way he like to turn and handball. Just does not impact the game enough or make the opposition pay with his disposals.

(can't even talk about the coaches/selection panel)?

Too many small/mid size average joes, a team of clones.

Size Kills

Speed kills

.....these two things we are without!

Never thoughtI would feel the same. Be quite happy to follow the jumper if they had /go to the Gold Coast. Attend a few games over winter and be rid of the old school tie, big end of town, brigade thinking.

I had a $10 five game multi, 4 legs in and in line to collect $257 if the Dees had won. The club would have got $150 of that.

Sick to the back teeth of the cr@p we dish up week in, week out. Have followed the club for more than 60 years and know I won't see another flag.

The only thing I'd miss if the club folded would be the camaraderie of my M9 mates who I only see at the games.

I'd happily chip in $1k if it meant we could replace Goodwin with Clarko or even Lyon.

Your not alone in thinking this way, the game is unwatchable now I just check the scores these days and have a quick look at the stats, same old story each week can’t be bothered with it

Oliver was meant to be the next Voss. He has stagnated in growth or has been found out... don’t know which but he is not top 5 by a long shot - would probably be lucky to be top 50.

Granted his inside game is phenomenal and ability to clear the inner contest is equally great. However he lacks vision beyond the contest and cannot make a play, break a line or kick intelligently. Don’t get me wrong, he is good - but not great.

Rookie mistake putting Melbourne in a multi! I never put us in, not for a win, a loss, not on the line nothing! About 8 or 9 years ago I had a 7 or 8 leg multi that's would've netted me over $600 for a $5 bet had the Pies beat us on Queens Birthday by over 44.5. We were down by 47 with seconds to go when Blease kicks this (for him) ridiculous goal from the boundary about 40 out. We lost by 41 and my multi was done. Never again!

Titus summed it up for me this week, as he often does:

"Wouldn’t it be nice if the players met us fans halfway and wore the jumper with the same commitment Melbourne members show year after excruciating year? Charities do have to show that donations are being put towards fixing the problem."

This is it. IMO We are on the edge of either breaking through and doing a Geelong of 2007, starting slowly and then just destroying a team to get the season going, or we just clunk along and eventually crash. Last year even with all of our injuries we were dominating matches in key stats but couldn't win. Even in round 2 against Geelong we were down by 28 points early in the 3rd, went forward like 20 times and couldn't score. Geelong went forward 5 times in the third quarter and scored 5 goals. Suddenly it's a 10 goal deficit. We then lose by 80 points. It was symbolic of the entire season. This year has been exactly the same. We win the ball everywhere but don't convert.

There will not be an in between imo. We will either start smoking teams, or we will finish bottom 4.

Whispy Watson just acknowledged on SEN that we are now the worst performing team since our prelim bow out.

Yeah, we got smashed in that game, but at least we made it.... to now the worst team of the comp in a single season plus change.

Let that sink in.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
