Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is this tongue in cheek?

I thought it was a vast improvement on his round 2 performance tbh, looked far more composed and played a much smarter game down back. Still a long way to go though.

It seems to be a lack of system or lack of confidence in a system

With Stewart down at quarter time TMac should have had  a field day.

Salem needs to play continuos football and TMac dropped.

Ti m e to play t h e youngsters all year.

Obviously front on contact isn’t a free if it is to a Melbourne player. Melksham in goal square and Tom MAC .

Totally, and cat defender in goalsquare in 2nd quarter obvious one hand handball, umps gave us frees but not where it matters, also each of their play on calls didn’t help us!!

Salem looks like a player that's been overloaded with instructions. Playing on instinct he goes quick and 9 out of 10 finds a good target. Lately he's taking far longer to make a decision, ignoring easy options, and doing the old long down the line trick

Or we have just over rated him? He is a very beige player.

A big call while you have him on your avatar ;)

I think he has the talent, something isn't right up top at the moment, and it's not just the terrible hair.

Avatar is not something I gave much thought to. He just coasts through games. Has no real impact or urgency. Has a neat kick but doesn’t really use it as a weapon. I just keep waiting for him to step up. I feel what you see now is the best we’ll get.

Sign the petition. Speaks for itself. We need action

Elgat, the person who started this petition is an absolute moron and the people that have signed it aren't much better. I have a real issue with people who have no experience selecting a senior coach trying to influence the club's decision making with this sort of action. If you don't have confidence in how our club is being run than run your own ticket, but for the people involved in this petition try and influence the club's decision making re changing coaches without any responsibility or accountability on their part makes me furious. We've got good people running our club and if they don't think Goody will bring us success then they will make a decision based on an informed understanding of his performance, not the emotional whims of a bunch of supporters and agitators.

Goodwin can't coach.

Our fwd 50 entries have been atrocious for 5 years. We got lucky in 2018 because we converted the "chaos ball". Still couldn't hit a target.

Our midfield is lazy.  Oliver and Viney hopeless today. Oliver refuses to man up when we don't have the ball and jogs when geelong are transitioning.

Dumb mistakes like manning a goal line, not moving the ball fast enough and 50m penalties for goals when goals were scarce.

Goodwin repeatedly makes the same mistakes and has no answers.

Geeling are a crap side but they had more poise than us at critical times. FFS they didn't even have a proper ruckman and were 1 key defender down all day.

The pre-game discussions were totally derisive about the Demons and laid out exactly how we would get beaten. Lo and behold that's how we got beaten.

You can cuddle your teddy bear and cry yourslef to sleep thinking  it will all magically fix itself but the club will disappear because no one cares other than people on here and a few others.

And I'm calling you out (the go to phrase for the right-on set) for being overly whiney and precious on a football forum.

I thought the team played well considering the instability they have had this season. Anytime you lose a game by less than a kick and have more shots than the other team suggests we had our chances. We know the system Goodwin has developed is quick and hard to stop. It is the coaches fault that we are one dimensional. Unfortunately we are stuck with Goodwin unless we don't make finals next year. We can't afford to get rid of him before that. We have to make playing accountable footy as part of the plan. Man up when the other team has possession. It looked good when we did it in the last 10 minutes but it did not look like part of the game plan. Our best footy is catch us if you can and the best defence for that is keeping's off.

There were positives today and everybody will be better for the run. Nobody played really badly today, it would be hard to find someone to drop. Mostly everyone did an OK job of being competitive and playing to their strengths with just the odd mistake. The cats are a quality, well coached and versatile team and we were competitive with them.

Vanders looked rusty, Hannan, Kozzi and Lockhart were ins that paid off. Tmac showed glimpses. Rivers, Fritch and Melk did not have their best game but still did some good things. I would consider swapping Salem and Tomlinson at times is the situation suits. Today their skills would been better suited to have Salem on a wing and Tomlinson down back. I don't care if this season is just used for practice for next year. If the virus is still around, the footy may not be any better but we will be more use to it. We have the advantage of being quick which really help in these shorten games.

The annoying thing about today is that Geelong have a very simple game plan that is extraordinarily predictable but it works ok for their slow old legs. That we looked surprised that they played that way and didn’t really have any method to counter it other than wait until they miskicked it for a turnover is very frustrating to say the least.

When I watch most other teams I see system and purpose. Run and carry. Possession football. Leading to space. Structure. Even the poorer teams who may not execute it properly. We have absolutely none of this in our game! Its like we are playing a completely different game. Goodwin has no tactical ability or gameday leadership.

Much better in the second half but still far too premature to be say he stuck it up any doubters.

A little frustrating with our forward 50 entries and failure to stick a tackle when it counted being the difference in the end I think. Without Jonesy and Nev in the 22 we now have a pretty young side. I thought Max, Hunty and Vines were our best today with Melky now being the most likely of our senior players to face being dropped.

With so few clean entries inside 50 I thought our forwards were outmuscled when forced into a contest. Lockhard got caught a couple of times being a little slow to dispose of the ball but that's only to be expected in someone playing their second or third game at this level. If we can cobble together enough wins to make finals I think we could take Geelong when it counts most. Disappointed today but not disheartened.

Watched the game, We lost it Geelong only had the higher score,   Same as our Carlton game, we had the higher score.

I do not think we have improved at all from 2019, perhaps a slower entry or more controlled entry into the F50.

What a waste of an afternoon.....

Enough wins? Geelong we're laying down with that chippy chippy excrement they displayed today, wow wee.

We are a mess and knowhere near the level required for finals football.

The word for that is "incompetent." And the club has the gumption to ask to donate. I mean, FFS, shouldn't that mean the players put in desperate, gut-busting efforts all over the ground from siren to siren?

On the money. Read my post of the donation thread.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
